  1. I am looking at Obscure. I really want it. It got a low score on GS, but I really want it. Anyone have it? I am very new to the Survival Horror genre having only played Resident Evil on the PSX for a few minutes, seen Resident Evil on the 64 played and played a little Fear whatever or whatever it was. But I am very interested in this one. So question is, which version should I get? Xbox or PS2? I was leaning at PS2 (Which is weird because Xbox is usually my first choice) only because it seems like the better candidate for the game. But of course the Xbox version has better sound that I can't even use anyway. Anyone have it and which one do they have? How is it? I'm also waiting for RE4 to drop in price on the Cube so I can grab it. Seems to still be $40.
  2. Is it okay to bump this? I just finished Ico. [spoilerS!] Finally. I bought it almost a year ago and at the time only made it about 1/5 through (Or so. I got to the graveyard first time where all the enemies come to get you and you have to push down the two switches at once to open the door.) and gave up because I figured the enemies were too much. I shelved it for months! Finally the other night I took it back down (While taking a rest from Shadows of the Colossus.) and ended up playing all damn night. Impressions? Goddamn beautiful. The ending sequence was amazing. The music. The castle crumbling to the ground and sinking into the ocean was very amazingly done. I don't know if it was a video or real time but they know exactly how to crumble a castle. After the horrible job Nintendo did on Ocarina of Time with their amazing melting castle, this was a breathtaking sight. I really must have that song. Anyone know of anyplace to download the credits song from Ico? It was beautiful. Tomorrow night I'll probably be posting "I beat Shadow of the Colossus!". I'm on the final boss right now. Will play it after work today.
  3. In Prime 1, I'm stuck right on the final boss. Well, not stuck, but I died once and well, after all the work I went through to get to him, I decided, fuck that, too much work. So I started on MP2 where I am now stuck on the three headed worms. Damn. Guess I'm never finish either.
  4. I really really want one. But I am really really trying NOT to get one. For one thing, price. I really do NOT want to pay $400 (Core system? No damn way. Gotta go all out!) before Christmas then $60 for each game. $60 is fucking ludicrous. And I don't mean that jackhole "crapper" guy the kids are talking about these days. I mean the adjective. Another thing, price. I could wait, COULD wait until next year for the inevitable PS3 competition price drop. By then more good games would be out and I could get PD0 for cheaper. But I have a sinking feeling, like I have gotten with the last 4 consoles and handhelds I've bought that I will cave in. I did it with the PSTwo. I did it with the DS. I did it with the PSP and I did it with the Famicom Micro. So my plan is to make sure I can't afford it for a long time... but it's gonna be so damn hard. Lately I've dropped the game collecting habit and picked up a worse one. Buy any very expensive thing I can afford. I have more high technology in this one 10'x10' room than the whole street has in their houses. The only thing I can do is wait and spend my money on the Mario Kart DS bundle, Dragon Quest 8, Animal Crossing, everything I can get my hands on to keep from buying the 360.
  5. Wait... that was Whoopi Goldberg? I had no idea! By your powers combined, I am CAPTAIN PLANET!
  6. What's with the DP bashing? Seriously.
  7. Yes, but I'm referring to how every time the power goes out or you have to unplug it, it has to be setup again! It's a fricking computer and they didn't even include a $4 CR2032 battery.
  8. I enjoy most any Mario game I play. If I were a Basketball fan, I'd own NBA whatever it's called. If I was really into Golf or Baseball or Soccer, well, you get the idea. Since I don't like those sports, I just play his normal games. I'm very curious about DDR though. I want to get it, I have never played DDR ever ever ever, have only seen it in "action" on South Park, never in person, so I don't know a thing about it except that you step on the right square at the right time. Of course, I fear if and when I do get it, it'll suffer the same fate as Donkey Konga. I'll buy it. Play it once or twice. Not really get into it. Put it on a shelf for show. Another $50-$60 spent on a conversation piece. (Which is why I'm waiting for DK2 and JB to go on clearance now.) Also, there's the fear of looking like a jackass, even if no one is watching. LOL And I agree. Mario RPG, Paper Mario and the Mario & Luigi games are kick ass RPG's. Aside from Dragon Warrior and Earthbound, the only RPG I can actually play without getting so bored or losing interest. *cough*finalfantasy*cough* (Can't wait for DQ8 and M&L2!) Here's hoping and praying for a Paper Mario 3 for the Revolution. And Smash Bros, man, what fun. Mario characters in a fighting game. No one could ever have seen that coming 10 years ago. Sunshine was hard at times, but still fun and not so hard that I had to give up before beating it. It's hard to get 100%, but it's still laid out you can still beat the boss without having to beat the really hard parts. (Who the hell designed those bonus levels??) I'm still hoping to see Mario 128 on the Revolution very soon after its release. I'm hankering for a new platformer.
  9. [it's inevitable] Well, it's a Sony product. Maybe he's buying a new one and already has games? [Now that's out of the way..] That's what I would say. Maybe his other PSP broke. Either it was its time or maybe he dropped it. Who knows? Shouldn't judge until you have all the details. So hunt him down and grill him until he cracks.
  10. If you feel embarrased to be playing a Mario game, you're a little too insecure if you ask me. I'm sorry, but I don't let other people tell me what games I can and can't play. It's like people who are in their 30's and play with Lego's. Or hell, people in their 30's that play VIDEO GAMES! Play what you like. Hell, if you want to play Hello Kitty, I'm not going to judge you. If you can find enough fun in a children's game to enjoy it, go ahead. [Goes back to playing Ico.]
  11. No, it's damn stupid design if you ask me. STUPID, SONY. Idiots. Microsoft got it right. Now if only the Xbox had a damn BATTERY SO THE CLOCK DIDN'T HAVE TO BE RESET!
  12. I haven't enjoyed a Bond game since GoldenEye. Rare pulled it off magnificently. I was sad wen EA became the big Bond company. Why oh why couldn't Rare have kept it? Especially now that MS holds their leash, MS could easily have bought up the license. So what if the subsequent Bond games would be Xbox only? At least they wouldn't be as bad. Now that that's out of the way, first things first, which version will be the one to get? I of course would want to go for the Cube version. Followed by the Xbox version. Followed by the PS2 version. But I fear that this game would suffer the same curse as Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 (The LAST GOOD NEED FOR SPEED GAME! FUCK YOU, UNDERGROUND!) which ended up sucking so much on the Xbox and Cube because EA stupidly had another part of the company do the ports. Bastards. So my question is will this game have that same fate? In other words, which console version to get? That said, GoldenEye is still my favorite Bond movie and game of all time.
  13. PSTwo's don't have switches. So I just leave it. Don't see any problems.
  14. Aha! I shalt bump thee topic from thy grave. Did anyone else end up actually getting this game? It is AMAZING! The Colossi are HUGE! Hugely bigly huge! Enormously bigely utterly huge! They're big if you get what I'm saying. I'm on Boss 8. It's the first to give me actual trouble. So fortunately it does have some difficulty. Of course after the last boss, the easy as pie electric eel, this seems like a huge step up. The bosses difficulties are weirdly arranged. It's like they should have let you use trial and error to figure out which ones to go after or accidentally put them in the wrong order. But no big deal. It's not like an RPG where you can get to a boss and find out you can't do anything because you're not leveled up. You start the game with the same power and energy as you'll have at the last boss so there's no silly leveling to do. It's all experience. I must say so far I'm very happy. It's a beautiful game, huge environment, gigantic bosses that you get to take down yourself instead of having to lob a bunch of grenades at it, ram it with a tank or find a button to push so you can knock a building on top of it. It's all you and him. Mano e mano. I'm surprised Pdorr3 didn't resurrect this topic or create a new one for this game. This 7th boss is really getting to me. Time to rest.
  15. The chain may be coming later. Remember it requires your friend to confirm in the email. So I wouldn't be surprised. Still, try it out. If you ever liked Dragon Warrior/Quest at any point, you'll probably love this one. Apparently the revamped graphics engine, outside changing from night to day to night and ability to move the camera are new features. Awesome stuff. I hope there's a DQ9. Dragon Quest I'll buy. Final Fantasy, meh. If you don't have the demo, definitely get a hold of it and try it out. Either at GameStop or EB or where I got mine, Kmart. (I mean, Dragon Quest isn't even a game we usually carry and I was surprised the other day to not only find a DQ demo holder but also We Love Katamari in the game cases! We never even got the first!) I wouldn't be surprised if Target and Wal-Mart have them too.
  16. I take it this is the game? http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?category=...oducts_id=6619&
  17. Anyone have the demo? I got mine at Kmart. I also have one coming in the mail. I got it the other day and finally got around to playing it. Freaking sweet! The graphics are amazing! And the gameplay is exactly what I hoped for in a Dragon Warrior game. No stupid timed battles or Final Fantasy-ism's. Just good old DW gameplay. It comes out on November 22nd. I can hardly wait. I think something else comes out that day too. But I don't think it's important. Some X-thing or something. Whatever. I'm not a big RPG guy, but my first experience with RPG's was back when the original game came out. Since then the only other RPG's I've ever gotten into are Mario RPG's and EarthBound. Nothing else holds my attention for long. When my Game Boy micro Famicom arrives, I'm going to Game Stop to pick up some games I didn't know came out (Serious Sam II and DOOM 3 Resurrection) as well as show off my micro. While I'm there, I'm totally pre-ordering the game. Which means I'll have too many demos. D'OH! Now, the only other thing that would make me happy is if Enix released a totally redone Dragon Warrior remake in the same style as this game. I would cry, then die happy... after I beat it of course. (Tip: Keep the names the same this time. No DracoLord. No Loto. Give me Dragonlord and Erdrick, PLEASE!) I Dragon Warrior.
  18. I wouldn't be surprised if they do. And yes, I would totally buy it this time too. I missed out back when the SP was out. I regret it, but I would totally buy a retro micro. If only for Mario's birthday. And you know what? It would totally look like an NES controller. Damn cool. And the best thing they could do is release it with two extra Mario related face plates. I saw some cool ones with Mario on them at the Japanese HAPPY! MARIO 20 site. One of those and an exclusive new one with Mario relations would do it.
  19. I ordered one. I didn't pay $99 for it, though. I paid $129. Yep, you guessed it. I bought the Famicom micro. Damn, what a cool looking device. I wish I had ordered it a few weeks ago so I could have it right now. It's in transit via DHL so hopefully it'll appear by the middle of next week. I can't wait! I'm giving my imported Famicom Mini Super Mario Bros a semi-permanent home in its slot. (I already have the US version as well, so why not put the extra one to use in a worthy home. It'll make a great conversation piece when I pull it out of my pocket and show people.) I love the whole "HAPPY! MARIO 20" thing. The micro has the Mario emblem on the back as does the box the micro comes in on the front. If you haven't seen the pictures at 1UP or Gamers Age Forums of the box, damn, not as cool outside as the GBA SP Famicom box was (With the World 1-1 graphics), but still cool. Outside is just a picture of the system. Inside though is another story. Bowser's dungeon graphics with a "Thank You For Selecting The Famicom Micro" written in the familiar 8-bit white letters and Mario and the princess standing below. http://fowler.1up.com/do/blogEntry?bId=562...cUserId=5435232 So awesome! I can hardly contain my excitement for this thing. I wouldn't have spent $100 on a plain micro, but for a special edition as cool as this, I would have spent $150. (I just wish Lik-Sang still had some Famicom SP's in stock. I'd buy one of those too now to complete the set.) I was hoping to import it with Mario Bros 2 Japanese (Lost Levels) bt everyone's out of stock. Dammit, I waited too long. Oh well. I can't wait!
  20. Well, you're the administrator. Edit the title to say "SPOILERS!" Of course, you're not going to read this. So why am I even trying? The world is HUGE! That is all.
  21. I only got about 750m. I did see the King crash down to Earth though. Only his legs, but if he's that big, do you really pick him up? He's HUGE! Everlasting Love is an awesome song. As is "A Song for the King of Kings". Every day. Every night.. um.. something something something. Great song. Oh, and Sunbaked Savanah. The one with the animals singing. Baby Universe is very good. Angel Rain makes me feel French. Oh, and "The Royal Academy of Katamari". One Chip March has a great beat.
  22. Oh.. My..God... This game is Freakin' awesome! I just beat it. The final "level" has you making a 500m Katamari, the world really is huge. So when you finis all the levels, you have to try to roll all the planets and stars and roll up the Sun. Man, the credits, the cutscene after them, awesome. Then you get to do a few more things. First is the same as the old game, the Royal Memorial lets you view all the kick-ass cutscenes, plus a couple bonuses. I already have the first bonus unlocked, it's the original group of scenes from the old game in Japanese all at once. Pretty neat. I don't know the second yet. Also, all the music as well. It really makes you realize the soundtrack is nowhere as bad as people think. There are a lot of really great songs on here. Besides that you get to.. well.. remember at the end of the first? When you rolled up all the countries on Earth during the credits? Well, imagine that + the movie Armageddon. You'll see what I mean.. if you're lucky. Man, sweet! Well, back to rolling. BTW, anyone know how to get Eternals this time? I really REALLY hope they're in here and really REALLY well done.
