  1. It does save initials? Well, everytime it asks for my name it's set to AAA. So I'm guessing instead of asking it just enters them for you? Well, that's convenient. BTW, I have turned auto on all of the games now. So I should be good. I love this game. Rolling Thunder is pretty fun. I never played it ever as a kid, but as I mentioned it was one that pretty much bored itself into my head all those hours I stood in arcades at campgrounds and roller rinks. The sound effects of the gun and dying and the tune it played followed by the evil laugh. When I turned on this game on my PSP it brought back a rush of nostalgic memories. Here's to seeing a sequel with the left out gems like RT2 and 3 and a few of those games they put in the 50th anniversary game. Also, here's hoping Midway's PSP treasures doesn't suck. I got my eye on a few of those goodies as well.
  2. Déja vu. I feel I've read that same exact reply somewhere else before.
  3. Now that I've played with it a bit.. Games I love: Ms. Pac-Man Dig Dug Dig Dug II Xevious** (Wish there was an Arrangement) Rolling Thunder* New Rally X (Played this one first on Ridge Racer) New Rally X Arrangement* Galaga Arrangement* Dig Dug Arrangement* Pac-Man Arrangement** Games I enjoy: Dragon Buster* Galaga King & Balloon* Pac-Man Rally X* Games I don't "get": Mappy Tower of Druaga* (I'll have to read the instructions for this one.) Grobda* Motos* Bosconian* *Games I played for the first time anywhere **Games I played for the first time except for a console port (NES for Xevious, GBA for Pac-Man Arrangement, which was the older version.) I gotta tell ya, I love the Arrangements. Especially the updated Pac-Man one. It seems to be a lot better than the older Arrangement which was just 2D with new graphics and effects. Did that version have boss battles? I rarely got far enough. Rolling Thunder instantly became one of those games I'd like to own if I had the chance. I actually own the Tengen version cartridge only but I don't think I could get it to work on my NES. I'll try again later, but I did have it but A) Never played it and B) didn't realize it was that game I remember from my childhood. That evil laugh will stick in my head until eternity. I like the inclusion of the "Self Tests". Makes it seem more like a real arcade. I would LOVE to see a sequel later on for the PSP of the same quality with 20 more Namco favorites that includes the other two Rolling Thunder games and a few more updated Arrangements. Oh, and yes, the Pole Position games. Damn would those be a good addition. So I keep my fingers crossed this game does good enough to warrant a sequel. Now that Namco has pretty much showed up all the other companies out there by actually getting it right for once, how long before we see a newer updated and non-sucky Midway compilation (Or 2 or 3), a new Atari compilation (That doesn't suck ass like the DS version. Dammit, I want a Tempest worthy of the PSP. Think of how much better a Vector game would look rotated and shown on the PSP's screen vertically!) or a new SEGA COMPILATION! Yes! Games like Out Run and Phantasy Zone and Flicky perfectly ported for the PSP. Damn. OH! Taito! Yeah, a compilation with all the Bubble Bobbles, Space Invaders, etc. Oh, and a Capcom collection,Konami.. (Damn would I give anything for a collection with all the arcade TMNT games. And don't you dare forget about Pop 'n' Twinbee/Bells and Whistles and the Parodious series'. I'd KILL for a Pop 'n' Twinbee.) This is the first PSP game since Lumines that would make me buy a PSP if I didn't already have one. This coupled with Lumines and Ridge Racer makes my PSP a great purchase. If there are more quality titles like this coming, I'll be happy. It gets 4.5 stars out of 5 only because it doesn't save your initials in memory to save you time later. Seems like that would have been an easy thing to do, but probably just an oversight. So it's more like 4.8 stars out of 5. Still, it's almost perfect IMHO. BTW, what two minor changes were made to Ms. Pac-Man? Edit: I just noticed there's a Midway Arcade Treasures already planned. I hope it doesn't suck as a lot of the games would kick ass if done perfectly.
  4. I think I may be able to get more into an RPG like FF VII if it were on a portable. I've realized that aside from the original DW, I can't get into RPG's because I feel like I'm wasting a lot of time. So if I could do it on the PSP while watching TV at the same time, I'd be wasting less time..? Seems weird, but it's true. So, bring it on, Squenix, just port it to the PSP and people will buy it. It would literally sell the system.
  5. I think a remake of FF VII on the PS3 would be unnecessary. If you want to play it so much, buy a PS1 version. Won't the PS3 play it anyway? All you'd get out of it is flashier graphics. Now, if they want to put a version on the PSP that didn't have to be a complete overhaul, that would be fine and hell, I'd probably buy it.
  6. The price may be steep, but holy hell is it fun! It's the most fun I've had on a compilation. I'm not sure but I think it may have something to do with it being portable. If this had come on the Cube/PS2/Xbox, I wouldn't have enjoyed it. I think it's because I can play it portably it's more fun. I love it. Most of the games I never even heard of. I'm working through them but so far it's the best compilation I've played. Makes me wish I hadn't wasted my money on Ape Escape (Anyone wanna buy an Ape Escape for $20? ) The arrangements make it totally worth it. I just played through the entire Pac-Man Arrangement. I never get past the first boss on the GBA version. But this one I set to Easy and played my way. Got a 115,000+ high score. (Before I lost all my lives the first time in world 3.) I'm going through Galaga Arrangement now and it's very fun. It makes me wish my heart out for a PSP port of IKARUGA! Now THAT would be worth $50! (I wish they'd added an Xevious Arrangement.) I also played the Rally-X Arrangement. I love the 3D city. It's so cool. I love it. Haven't tried Dig Dug Arrangement yet. And for the normal games I've played Ms. Pac-Man, (Totally worth it. Ms. Pac-Man kicks Pac-Man's ass.) Xevious, Galaga and Rolling Thunder*. *Rolling Thunder brought back many many memories of camping trips. Every campground had this game in its arcade. And even though I would never play it, (Never appealed to me at the time) I totally remember the "Attract" mode. The shooting sound effects, the evil laugh when the boss comes on screen when you die. It struck a memory and dug it from my deepest brain depths. All in all, I am not disappointed one bit. Which surprises me because I was afraid it would. I almost didn't open it. 4.5 stars out of a possible 5.
  7. No way. Add me to the BC list. Getting a 360 would let me dump the hunk of brick I already have into my brothers room and save me a lot of space. Hell, the Revolutions ability to play older games is enough to make me put my older N systems in the closet. (To be pulled out occasionally when a game they don't have pecks at my craving brain.) Including the Cube. So BC is a big deal this generation. I'm glad to see everyone's on the ball here this time. So when I do get a 360, it will have to have the hard drive and wireless stuff. Question is, will they continue selling it as a whole later down the road or change the lineup a bit?
  8. I too wouldn't mind SFA if it were $20. I am sorely disappointed they had to keep the damn foot missions in the game. A terrible trait that came from the awful Adventures. It's like SMB2 all over again except instead of fun traits like Shy Guys and Pokey's we get a space shooter that makes you walk. BOOO. I'd have preferred a remake of Star Fox 64. Why? No damn foot missions! Plus it had a kick-ass train level. They could do some cool effects with the special "train destruction" ending. BOOM!
  9. Horizontal. Especially the smaller one. I think the stand for the small one is a stupid ass idea. It's not built to be a stand up. Standing up is supposed to save room, but all it does is take up even more room because, DUH, you have to open the lid! So it STILL takes up more space. At least the bigger model has the tray. That saves room. So I voted Horizontal.
  10. Eventually I'm sure I'll have all three. But the one I know I will be getting based on franchises alone is the Revolution. It's a given. I like the games Nintendo makes. So I voted for good old Rev. Ditto Lord Helmet. Nothing on the PS3 or 360 interest me. Not even Halo 3 would convince me to get an Xbox (If I didn't have one already), Not even a Jak IV or something. Hell, the only thing that would even make me slightly consider a PS3 is a Katamari game. But would I really pay $300-400 for a game whose graphic style really isn't worth the enormous processing power? Nah. So I'd wait. Or pray for a PS2 port. Not even Lumines 2! (If only it existed. And when it does, please be on PSP.) Maybe a remake of Banjo Kazooie and Tooie in the style of Conker would make me consider a 360. Not even PD0 is enough to convince me. (I mean there isn't even a remake of the original on the collectors edition.) Maybe Serious Sam 2 would be enough, but I see that game's coming for the Xbox 1. So tough luck, MS. So Revolution it is. PS3 and Xbox 2 down the road when the prices drop.
  11. I am glad to hear it's a great port. I'm getting it for Ms. Pac-Man, Rally X, Xevious and Galaga (Or Galaxian. Not sure which one I like better) alone. The rest of the games are a bonus. I just wish it was $30 instead.
  12. I bought the original SMB off Lik-Sang from Japan a few weeks before the US releases were announced. It was totally worth the $30. The packaging kicks ass. I also have the US versions of the following: SMB Legend of Zelda Metroid (It got me into the game. Just give me the infinite energy/weapnos code and I am happy.) Castlevania (Another game I would normally never play.) Dr. Mario (Since I lost my GB version, and well, this one's full screen and color, it was worth it.) Ice Climber Donkey Kong (Still wish for the cement level though.) Xevious I am on my way to collecting them all. It'll be the one complete anything that I'll ever get. Though I keep wishing and hoping for at least another series. Japan got a Series 3 that consists of a lot of obscure Japanese only games. Would have liked to at least see Star Tropics, Dragon Warrior, Kickle Cubicle and Fire 'n' Ice get the Classic treatment before they put it to rest. Oh well, at least we have the promise of Revolution downloadable games. After I collect all the US ones. I may try for the Japanese ones. Well, at least the Japanese only games. Like Kid Icarus and Pop 'n' Twinbee.
  13. But much harder. So hard it turned me off. Glad I got Lumines first. Totally worth it.
  14. Edit: Nevermind. Got it. It's cool. But needs work. The browser I mean.
  15. I'm still getting multiple emails. I am really hating that. It happens at Konfabulator's forums too because they use (A much nicer looking themed version) iPB as well.
  16. War's cutscenes are really well done. I love the "Saving Private Ryan" type cinematics.
  17. A remake of both games in one would be killer. They're not Nintendo property so I can't see a reason not to other than maybe they want to move onto other things... like Grabbed by the Ghoulies 2... *shudder* C'mon, Rare. Other than Perfect Dark Zero, what else do you have your teams working on, seriously?
  18. That's an awesome video. I didn't realize how horrible the original looks in comparison. At the time, I actually thought it was a pretty good looking game... and that was only a few years ago. I'd KILL to see Rare to the same treatment to Banjo-Kazooie, and even less likely, Donkey Kong 64.
  19. Tomorrow. Except at my store. It may be others. But go and check as our store started it early. Call 'em and see if they have the game and have them hold it for your for a few minutes and rush over. Even if it's not on sale yet, you can adjust the price tomorrow. Providing your store is inhabited by friendly employees. I've heard many retail horror stories..
  20. You can't really tell though without a larger selection of shots. Every version has a lot of the same levels. It's the slight differences in the arrangement and selection that make it different.
  21. I hope you're joking. You don't even understand what I typed!? The installer I was talking about. Not what it runs! The installer for the Firmware.
  22. Yeah, but they don't mention any way to actually do it. Just that they can and have. But what about US!? And for the love of God, do NOT make it Windows only or I will open a can of whoop-ass.
  23. I bought my copy from my store a year ago. It was the last one we had and the last one we've ever had. So if yours actually has a copy, you're lucky. But it's on the list. I just hope all the lists are the same and the people working at your store are wise to the sale.
