Now you *really* sound like my 15 year old... :)

I guess you know that throwing something automatically voids the warranty? Unless it's something like a particular Chromebook model designed for elementary schools, it's not meant to hold up to abuse, and if it does you're just lucky.

    If u say so.

  3. looking through some of these responses of how juvenile they are of an attack against me instead of looking at the problem at hand the controllers poorly made it should not break on one throw it doesn't matter that I was wrong and throwing it it doesn't matter the action I took it doesn't matter. All that matters is that I'm informing people that are younger hit in here and people are just don't know any better that things today or junk that's all the purpose of this post was but instead everybody has to make it about Rudy the greatest console gamer of all time the console player of the century that's not what it was about but you guys decide to make it about me as usual. Once again I will not correct the grammar

TBH Hyperkin has made made some real junk, my son whom takes great care in almost anything he does or touches had a hyperkin charger that didn't fair very well. I've had one of their controllers during game play (and it wasn't frenzied game play) fail. I wasn't too pleased with a few of their docking solutions either. It's not an isolated incident. Let's face it, it's some pretty piss poor parts in these things. I think a number of laptops had gotten more rugged a few years back though...

I'd have to agree on one point, most of the parts come from one place for the broad spectrum of today's wonderment.  Rebuilding certain devices using what is supposed to be a 1 for 1 rated part often turns out not to be the case. They use a different testing and rating method than they did back then, the new parts don't take inrush currents into account, nor do they take torsional stress or any other axis into a given rating either, it only needs to meet one axis and it's a pass. This would never have flown in any industrial country of the past, not just the U.S.

Exactly I have the c x 78 from best electronics and that thing will never break granite I don't throw it and I haven't thrown it yet but I promise you when I throw it you'll never break I will guarantee that because there's nothing to it you open it up it has two circuit boards it has the wires and it has the rubber pieces like a normal controller and this is what the analog to. Sorry for the long run on sentence but I'm not going to correct it

  5. that's just the thing the controller was not thrown against the wall, the controller was thrown onto the floor about a foot down from me if that it's ridiculous. I'll never stop throwing things or breaking things, it's an Italian thing and it's a man thing sometimes it's fun. I take really good care of my stuff, I clean and rebuild my stuff every single f****** year. I did not expect a controller, I used one time because I threw it on the floor for it to break, nobody ever should that's that's the bottom line.

So just because one thing you used breaks, everything from the past few years is bad and older stuff is better?

That's not very open-minded my friend.

It's been an ongoing thing it's not one or two. I have open my mind to buying a lot and new school stuff and it's all junk we just don't make things like we used to and that's because we don't make enough things here in America. Or we use garbage parts

  7. Yup the only point of this post was to inform people that new school is junk, and old school don't break.  This was not about people pretending they never throw controllers or I'm blaming the manufacturer. Thank you for the undivided attention as usual making it all about me. Lol

  8. I been buying the new school stuff as of late, and I really felt good about my recent purchase, of the Hyperkin Ranger 2600/7800 Controller. It plays like a charm and prob the best responses I have ever had BUT, like many classic game players we get angry or frustrated and throw a controller down. I have never broken a controller and I have smashed these things. It took one throw down of this and it broke, despite it being my fault, it should NOT break on throw down.

Sadly things today are just junk

    FAQ'S

Q Are the photos from the author, his actual game play?

A Yes they are in fact actual screen shots of the author's game play.

Q Is the Knife real and is that Ketchup, BBQ Sauce or blood?

A The Knife and Blood are in fact real, a person who enjoyed cutting themselves, bled to the blade.

Q Did the author use google or search engines for this book?

A No, there was little to no information, on the facts of these games on the internet.

Q What does the book have, that I cannot find on the internet?

A Actual game play and calculated timing of what is possible on both games, along with accurate historical information, both about the games and their origin.

Q Why are photo's in the book B&W?

A While we wanted to do this guide in full color, in order to keep costs down, we published it in B&W. Thus giving it that retro look, since many serious Atari players play these games in B&W to avoid eyestrain. If we did the guide in color it would be in the ballpark of 25.00 or more.

Q Why does the book have two blank pages?

A We decided that the book should have a first blank page, for the reader/gamer to use for notes, mapping etc. The second page in the back was created for autographs from other players and actors that relate to the game's and the movies.

Q Why are the pages double sided?

A That is how Amazon keeps costs down, we as a whole disagreed with that but, it's their choice and not ours.

Q The book says first and only unofficial and unauthorized, why is this?

A This is in fact the first and only guide to these two titles in strategic guide history. The reason for the terms of unofficial and unauthorized, was only to avoid legal issues in the future.

Q I don't play video games so why would I buy this book?

A 95% of our customers have never played Atari or even heard of these two games, they bought them for the love and fanfare of Leatherface and Micheal Myers, from the Halloween and Texas Chainsaw Massacre movies.

Q Is this guide avail in other languages?

A Yes our guide is worldwide and in multiple formats and languages.

  10. I Woud love to see it

    great box art btw

I already wrote in the "Atari 2600 Homebrew" FB group... and I also write it here, right now.

It's almost 30 years I hope that someone will come out with the idea of making a 2600 porting of the arcade coin-op version of "Pitfall II - The Lost Caverns" (Sega, 1985).

Since I cannot hack a game nor programming one from scratch, I made (but it's since 10 years...) some mockups of the game, a full-map, closely related to Crane's original, artworks (one of them it's the boxart), and many, many other things...

    attachicon.gifPitfallII_Arcade_BOX(Activision).jpg

I already played on the SG-1000/ColecoVision version (emulated): it is a good attempt to re-create the arcade game but...
HEH !!! ... I really can't play on it because it has almost no elements of the gameplay of the Sega coin-operated game !

Believe me, since I think I know almost every aspect, even the "hidden" ones, of this game ! And it's since the 1985, when I used to play it in a local arcade, in which I owned the top-score (my best is around 2 million points... not so far from the World Record, and, of course, I got several 1.9 million point games recorded, and officially confirmed, with WolfMame).

[CLIP = best score on Retrogaming History Arcade Competition 2013. Not my best but enough... ]

And here it is the "Underground map" of the arcade game.
I made it by editing and putting together hundreds of Mame screenshots... [PIC]

    attachicon.gifPitfall II - The Lost Caverns (coin-op) - map levels 02-03-04.jpg

Just to show you how "big" is the arcade game...

    Now, the full-map development of Crane's Pitfall II is 29 horizontal levels/platforms x 8 "columns" , for a total of 232 "locations".

The arcade game's "lost caverns" underground section develops for 28 platforms x 8 "columns", and it also has a first section which is 2 levels x 32 screens, but apart from this last the two games' developments are pretty "near" !

Then, if someone would want to "hack" the original Pitfall II he can surely maintain the development of the game area !
He should give up only one of the levels of the ''underground section"(I have already made a" full map "and, knowing the game, I realized what platform can easily removed) and as many as 24 horizontal screens of the "first section", but it is a sacrifice that I believe can be done !

[ PIC(left) = original map of Pitfall II for the C=64. It differs from the VCS' version only for graphic details... ALL the rest is the same ! ]

[ PIC(right) = VCS' "Pitfall II - Arcade" mockup map, taken from the original map and filled/completed with almost all the elements of the arcade version ]

    ... what do you think'bout it ?
