the official Channel F thread!

Yup, sold one for $189 when the $480 one was out - didn't believe it, but I sold another one for $198 - didn't quite believe that either, so now #3 - we'll see. There's an "offer" option as well. Maybe I'll be able to pay the bills this month after all. -

Yes, if it's a shallow cylinder with a lid, seems to be one of few ways to break these carts. It's just glued on there so it's not surprising that that happens. Later versions have square covers with a pin in each corner, the don't have that problem. While on the subject, apart from two 40 pin PSU IC:s on the really early ones they also tried tranparent silicone (? or some rubbery stuff), there's another size of square cover and late in the production a dark rubbery substance. That seems common on #22 and #19 - and it seems to have been a bad method. Atari2600land already linked to my site so I won't do that again. When inspiration hits me I'll rescan all of them and make pdf:s... I think I need to buy more space for that though. -

Nice! So you're only using the "BIOS" characters? -

When I had a single button apart I noticed the spring was worn, I rolled out the ends a bit and problem was solved. -

Nice, maybe there's actually some modern replacement, perhaps a Cherry switch or similar will fit? -

I understood later that the green is background and there are light grey C:s, he could have added one more pixel for clarity. -

The above YouTube-link worked on the phone, with Chrome on my computer, it doesn't - but it can be found on the link. -

BTW. QQ2019 demo, 256 Bytes http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=82729 Makes you wonder what other little things that could be made, in 256 Bytes... -

Not familiar with the term "hoppy", but I know him better than you. Multi-Carts are great for playing, a single cart in the shelf (or in the machine) would not be much of a collection. -

I've got a working, complete, #19. It's one of few I have found broken (not being vandalized) so I stole the shell and ditched the labels... back in the 90's, saved the PCB. I've been in contact with a guy that does wire bonding but it's a waste if the chip is damaged anyway - and what collector wants one with no labels? (even if good reproduction labels could be made) We want the real thing, right, or I'd have no problems pushing out reproductions. -

If you can afford it... why not. The only other option (unless trading with collectors) is to wait for one to pop up again. -

Nicely done. it's common to have vertical lines if RAM is broke, so lucky you for being able to swap those... or something else is broken that will break the RAM... -

That's right, you can hide the trail... that would be a possible explanation. -

Here's my Atari-mod (S-video, stereo sound), original antenna cable is spooled up inside the case. -

Looks good, clear as a day but with some color artifacts. I prefer using a connector on a cable and let it hang a couple of inches from where the antenna cable was - so mod can be reversed if needed. If you want to be able to control the volume it needs audio out as well... -
FS: Fairchild System (Channel F) Multi-Cart, pre-order now.
e5frog replied to e5frog's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
All orders have been shipped, have two finished cart to ship right away if anyone's interested. So... in a couple of weeks it's been 10 years of selling Multi-Carts in this thread, if the community needs another batch we'll reach 200 pcs -

@tnt23 The color signal on s-video is not 1Vp-p, it's 0.3Vp-p IIRC. When running a C64 on LCA it has 1Vp-p on Chroma, that's what the C= monitor wants. So when using s-video signal has to be lowered or you'll get various artifacts. So did you mean 1Vp-p from VES or is that signal level on the connector? @frenchmarky That's an odd one, problems with VRAM usually shows as vertical lines. Probably something before that. As you've had socket problems, perhaps it's time to swap sockets. -

@tnt23 Looking good, show us your hookup / schematic. Does s-video get rid of the checkered flicker along the side of the graphics? -

You could have a short somewhere overloading the voltage regulator or perhaps there's poor thermal contact which causes overheat. The socketed chips are prone to oxidation, there's silver in them, they turn black - at least on the upper part of the pins. There's another guy with the same kind of problem. He has swapped regulators and electrolytic caps but no luck so far. I had a problem like that in a European version, turns out a tantal capacitor was shorted, they're egg shaped, blue, green or beige usually... Perhaps there's one under the RF box. Regarding your other problem, there's an adapter you can get that fits directly between the TV and the antenna cable (eBay) so you don't need a switch box. Swapping the cable may also help. Installing a composite mod will give you the best image of course. But, no idea as long as it's not working properly. -

Just to be sure, I tested all my 23 Spitfire (loose PCB:s and cartridges of the different brands in my collection). Same result, no printing of text - even so I haven't been able to memorize the entire sequence.
