Cool. I was wondering what he was going to use that core for, the thread about it kind of died out. If it's FPGA it's still based on software being programmed into it. Don't really know what would qualify as "hardware emulation". If I had a single write SD card with an emulator on it, would it be hardware emulation?

Shipped the last one in the batch. It's possible I can make a few now and then as I have a bunch of boards left and some of the other main parts.

Should be great for the collection and if you have a Multi-Cart and don't need to play the real ones. Hardcore collectors use resin... Would have been fun to fake a Democart 2 and put it in a resin block...

You mean the one advertised as untested but somehow deemed "non-working" for $76? Key word being non-working... or else it would probably have been a lot more expensive.

I could perhaps de-label the Luxor 15 box, no charge, postage will be enough.

I've got spare #15 cart but only Luxor box (sticker on US version) and instructions. You just hold on and a complete one will probably show up.

Now that you got those two cheap, you have more money to put on a #15 - but that should be possible to find at a good price as well... some time.

Luxor, Barco and Emerson used the original case. Barco has very different fonts on their badges so one can assume they made their own: Image of a machine sold last year with 7 boxed cartridges for €73,63 at a Belgium auction. Apart from SABA, Nordmende, ITT and Luxor also had their own design on the second version units, Adman used the Channel F II case. The SABA VideoPlay has the original controllers and pretty much the same board as the first Luxor version. SABA VideoPlay 2 has the second version of the circuitry on a full size board, much like some US machines that has the old case but the smaller PSU (and may or may not have an internal speaker). The SABA VideoPlay 2 has almost exactly the same case as their first version (lid latch differs) and it has a small extra PCB to modulate the sound into the RF output channel, there's a spot for the speaker just like on the previous motherboard but none is mounted. Controllers are unfortunately the same as on the ITT Telematch, with a different knob. The Nordmende is pretty cool, it has plain version 2 controllers with a silver sticker on top (matching the console but that often doesn't cover the original sticker). You mean the red connectors, inside the housing? Why not solder the wires directly, it's not like you need to unplug them a whole lot...

Cool, polishing the pins of the original CPU wasn't enough? Really nice that there's affordable CPUs to purchase.

Regarding flat ribbon cable and connectors. It's not impossible to find both, it's difficult to find 11 position ones perhaps but if you're experienced enough to consider modifying the console then I guess you're not afraid of some slight modding of connectors and/or flat ribbon cable. If the Football cart stops at $81 - it's not that bad for a complete set. It's nice having a loose cart, while waiting for a complete to pop up. I wish you good luck.

Maybe there is another type of connector that can be used... Last option IMHO is to solder a ribbon cable, a floppy or IDE cable, use every second wire and you'll get a pretty good fit.

Glue or tape them to the plastic, then you need to be careful when inserting. Only 40 years and already there's troubles.

I have considered offering instruction reprints - for place holder in the collection or for usage with the original in the photo album (or wherever other people keep them). But... it's perhaps not worth the effort.

I'm going to need to buy more parts so, yes, it will help development. First on the hobby-agenda is to finish atari2600land's trimerous-cartridge, still some left to do on KHoL. Unfortunately it's not first priority, work and food (well all living costs) is. As I mentioned, I have an offer option, if you want a Pac-Man cart and can't afford the suggested price. I have been selling them for around $95-120 before - but as they seem to be sold for double the money as soon as offered on eBay I thought - why not? Someone mentioned it would be clever to always have one on eBay with a reasonable price so nobody will attempt to sell one for a shit-load of money... but I guess if it's an early version the game may differ somewhat (as the game was still developed further after carts started to be sold) that one might be worth a little extra, if it's known that it's different. Next on the Fairchild hobby agenda is trying to work more on the reprogrammable cartridge. Simplest method is probably to use RAM, battery backup, some µP like PIC or Atmega with enough I/O and I guess a bus switch as well, to be able to disconnect the memory interface when needed and a Prolific type of device so you can send data over USB and still only have to receive data over serial interface - so it doesn't need USB stuff in the µP as well. Don't seem to get there though - in the last 6-7 years or so, maybe next year when the wife is done studying - and I don't get sick (again), it's mainly a question of money, you need some to buy parts, some trial and error then a prototype etc. I have two Pac-Man carts left, one box has a beauty mark on the back, I'll probably put it down for $666 and call it a Cindy Crawford cartridge. Reason for this is that I have two more boxes left from the 2016 batch and it's an investment to get a new set printed - that I may never sell so unless there's a sudden demand for a bunch of Pac-Man carts I guess the Pac-Man making days are over. I have been tempted on correcting some details but that will end up on the Multi-Cart in that case.
