  1. No room atm for a Full Sized Aracde Machine so I been searching around. I came upon www.backinthedayarcades.com and I was looking at the Classic Tabletop Multi-Arcade Unit (http://www.backinthedayarcades.com/Classic_Multi-Arcades.html - unit is about midway down the page) they have for $799. Table Top unit with 64 Classic Games that you get to choose the Beezel and side art, Joystick and Button Colors etc. I ASS/U/ME that this has to be a MAME Cabinet but they don't list the specs of the system that is/would be powering it. Sent an email yesterday asking them and they haven't gotten back to me yet. Is it worth it or just a rip-off?

    Regards,

    Kenny

  2. When I purchased the C-64 when it first came out I never bought 1 piece of software for it. Between the local Commodore User Group and friends almost everything I had was from the EagleSoft Cracking Group seems like. I did buy a Fastload Cartridge for it but that was only so I could mod it to have the reset switch. But as far as all the other Disk and Cart Software that was available everything I had at the time was all pirated copies.

  3. Fyi

Help About still reports version 1.3d2

at least for me it does.

damn... I've made that mistake before.

Also a bug just discovered by raz0red which would mess up the controls in-between different games.

    Fixed these:

    ProSystem_13e.zip

    ProSystem_1.3e_Src__2009_06_06_.zip

Anyone else unable to get this version to work under 64bit Windows 7 Ultimate? It runs but whenever I boot up a rom I get nothing but a black screen. I have tried running it under different compatability modes from XP to Vista and even giving it Admin priv. But still get nothing when I load a rom.

    Thanks!

EDIT: Finally got it going when I get the compatability mode to Windows NT go figure. Sorry for the bump this caused :P

  4. Karateka is the worst game. I used to play it on the C64 but can't remember the controls were so bad as on the 7800.

Hat Trick at least gives you some fun in two player mode.

The PAL mission is possible and other good games are Ikari Warriors, Comando and classics like Ms. Pac Man, Donkey Kong (incl. Jr.).

A game I really like and which might have been released by HES in Australia only is Super Skateboardin.

OK, the guy should not wear such kind of shorts and the repetative music sucks your brain but the it is the basic idea of the game I really love.

I'll second that, Karateka on the 7800 is pure garbage.

  5. Well bad as I hate to be the one to drag out a 7 month old topic. I kinda almost owe my wife an apology. I went back out to the storage building the other night to get some luggage out for my youngest daughter. Well a couple of the suitcase felt damn heavy so I opened them up. Well guess what? :ponder: Yep that's right. Bad part is now I can remember actually putting all that stuff in there

Open mouth, insert foot, echo internationally.

  6. I'm thinking about buying an r4 for my ds but I'm not quite sure about all the details, whether it's worth it or not or where I can get it for the best price. I would appreciate hearing from those of you who have one.

I bought one a couple months ago from www.rsds.com for my son and it works great. However with the DSi out now, I'd go with a AceKard2i as it works with both the DS & DSi. If you go R4 like I did you'll just have to but a new card when and if you ever upgrade to the newer DS.

  7. The R4 arrived today and it works and does all it claims to. It came in a Retail Box (if you can actually call it retail) which contained the card, a nice keychain case, and a micro-sd card reader. The only gripe my son had about it so far is on the back of the box it says it comes with a cd version of the user manual. Well it didn't contain a cd version of the user manual, nor software, so we had to goto www.r4ds.com (not the site it was purchased from) and download the software and a electronic version of the manual.

  8. Thanks for the input and suggestions, He insisted on a R4 and not any of the other suggestions, so I ordered him a R4DS Ultra (they had like 3 different R4's) from www.r4dsusa.com the Ultra uses mini sd's upto 16 gig. I will let everyone know if anyone is interested on how it works.

    Thanks Again.

  9. I know DisneyQuest had one down here in Orlando last I was there. I'll be going there again soon, so I should check the third floor again.

Back about 3 or 4 years ago they had either 4 or 5 Lunar Lander working (all on free play) cabinets at the Space and Rocket Museum (Space Camp) in Huntsville, Ala. Dunno if this is true now or not.

We retired it in 2003 (to the state of Alabama for the auction process to get rid of it) due to a monitor that kept malfunctioning. In it's place are kiosks that run windows pc simulators and maybe that's what you are thinking of? We have Asteroids (not the arcade game), Land the Shuttle (in a cockpit mock-up), etc.

Yea that might have been it as I had all the kids with me and wasn't paying alot of attention to them at the time.

  10. Hmm, since this thread is asking for some ROMs. Would anyone happen to know where to defendr2.zip. I've tried looking for that one and I keep getting the NES version.

I'd go with the retroroms site he mentioned, I've looked through cd and dvd and etc..... and I can't find it, nor any of my mame roms, god I hope I haven't lost it, or my wife disposed of them like my 7800 and stuff :) cause it'd suck having to re-download that collection, esp since I'm stuck with dial-up.

Lemmie look through some of my backup cd's, I'm almost positive I have it.

  13. Yikes. Now that's a horror story. A 7800 with a bunch of carts and accessories weighs enough to know its not an empty box.

The 7800, controllers and the hook-ups were the only ones in the Wii box, which I can almost buy she thought it was empty. All the games however were in a larger cardboard box and heavy, I can't buy she thought it was empty, but the Wii box I almost can.

I did replace one of my carts this afternoon, I live in a much Atari Deprived area and had to get all my stuff by ordering online. I stopped at a Garage Sale, looked like all they had was a bunch of glassware and clothes, but in the bottome of a box of shoes, I found a Berzerk cart. Cost me $.50 but it was one of the 2600 carts that I lost along with about 150 others (2600 & 7800 together with some doubles pac-man etc.)

  14. Well it had been awhile, and I thought I'd dig out my good ol' 7800 and do some serious playing. Went out to the storage building, tore it apart, and Wait a Sec...WTF!!

Went back in the house and asked my wife where the WII box (7800 and all hook ups was in it) and the cardboard box with all the games in it was. She said..."Well I was cleaning out the building, picked up the Wii box and it felt empty, so I threw it away, as far as the games she don't know."

BULLSHIT...I don't buy it, so anyway with my system and games gone of which I had invested close to $450 bucks (had alot of 2600 games also with it) and being layed off of work since Oct. 3rd looks Like I'm screwed now until I get back to work.

How the hell do you through shit like that out, and believe me when you picked up the box the Wii came in, you could tell it wasn't empty!.

    Oh well.....

Quick Edit....Now that I think of it, it wasn't a total loss, Karateka got thrown out with it, so it wasn't a total loss :)

  15. Just picked up Fable II last night. Haven't got to play it much, but damn this game is pretty! :D

That's the one I want!! I simply loved Fable on the XBOX. Just Finished Lost Planet, Good game, really surprised me. And being atm the only 360 games we have are Halo 3 (way big disapoinment, to short) and Lost Planet, Gotta get something else, being told to go with either Bio Shock or Gears of War.

  16. The UK gets C64 Virtual Console games regularly.

    www.vc-reviews.com

Good to know I think, I'm gonna have him look into it, he has tons of virtual console games, I dunno how as we don't have broadband (can't get it where I live unless you go with Wildblue or HughesNet both of which are to expensive for my tastes) so he has no internet connection for his Wii or the Xbox 360.

  17. My Son tells me C-64 games are comming to the Wii. Since Google seems to be either down or having serious problems at the moment, I bring the ? to you guys as my son knows I live for the classics I wouldn't put it past him just telling me this.

    Thanks

    Kenny

  18. I just finished cleaning up a Vader that I rescued from the trash. Now I'd like to introduce my kids to a little old school gaming. Does anyone have suggestions for some games that are pretty easy to play for a 5 year old? I was thinking Fishing Derby, Breakout, and Video Pinball as some possibilities.

Freeway is another one that a 5yr old can figure out quickly, also whats the name of that one frog game...Frogs & Flies or something along that line might be Intellivision, but I'm thinking there is a 2600 version of it also.

  19. Seems she favors the Activision/Imagic stuff over anthing else, finding her playing alot of Fishing Derby also now...Dunno why on that one, I was never a big fan of it.

    Kenny

Probably because you don't like it. :P

I like shooters as well and he's right about the 7800, food fight is one of my very favs. There's also Galaga, purr, and all of PacManPlus's games - PacMan collection, space invaders etc - they are fricking amazing!

ps - There's also beef drop, b*nk, space duel, and asteroids deluxe for the 7800 that IMO whup @$$. :)

Should have said that earlier, it is on a 7800 that she is playing them on. I agree with Beef Drop and most of the others, esp PacmanPlus' games, need to buy the carts though, only have them on rom.

Okay I take that back, might be she just likes the shooters. She's been playing Phoenix and Galaxian alot here the last couple days too. Looks like I'm going to have to buy another Atari so I can play now. Emulation just isn't the same.
