  1. I went to the Go-Kart/Fun Center near my house last night with some friends. They've been overhauling their arcade section since new owners took over, so they've been getting a lot of new stuff lately. Today I saw Sega Flash Beats. Has anyone else played this? It was a really fun game. Almost like a fancy Pong, but with lights in tubes for the balls and heavy music back beats. Aparently it's been out for quite a couple of years now, but this is the first time I've sen one.

Basic concept is that there's 5 tubes with red lights in them that are the "balls". They bounce back and forth as you hit the corresponding button on your end which causes a green light to push the ball. Definitely a lot of fun to play. Plus the voices/instructions were in Japanese so that's always fun, haha.

They also had an F355 Challenge 2: International Course Edition machine, which was another new one for me. I've played the regular F355 plenty of times, but I've never seen one of these. Does anyone know if these used to link up with Dreamcast VMU's over in Japan? After you finished racing it would show a pictue of a Dreamcast and VMU with arrows pointing towards a whole bunch of Japanese text. I didn't see any ports or anything. There was a section where you might get a print out sheet from or maybe a card though. You can see it in the picture.

  2. You might have to check flea markets, garage sales, thrift stores, etc. Seems like the ones on eBay are overpriced or they include extra stuff you wouldn't need. There's only 2 on CtCW and they're not regular 4-switchers either.

What project are you working on?

  3. You can pick up the Dreamcast version cheap. The XBox and PS2 versions were limited releases.

I would prefer the Dreamcast version actually. Looking at eBay, the last few are ending in the $35-$60 range. I'm surprised to see there's some ending on the lower end. Used to be you couldn't find it for under $40.

Hey, you can always download the Dreamcast version! :ahoy:

    True. ARRRRR!!

  4. The date and time are from the internal battery being dead. You can try to leave the DC on for a few hours to see if it'll hold a recharge. Otherwise you'll have to buy a replacement.

You might be able to find a replacement board on eBay. There's a few sellers on there that part out Dreamcasts.

  5. I've always had Recreation. I originally picked it thinking I'd get paired up with like minded gamers on XBL, but that's not the case.

Not sure why MS doesn't use it. Seems like they should have just gotten rid of it with the new experience upgrade.

  6. I have a model 2. It's definitely one of my favorite systems. A lot of good memories playing Genesis! I also have a 32x. I've been looking for a Sega CD in good condition.

    My favorites would be:

ToeJam & Earl Panic on Funkotron

All the Sonic games. Though I think 2 is my fav. w/ followed by Sonic & Knuckles. 3-D Blast wasn't so hot though...

    Shining Force

    Streets of Rage 2

    Vectorman

    Road Rash 2

    Golden Axe

And although they weren't Genesis exclusive I always enjoyed:

    Super Tecmo Bowl

    Super Street Fighter 2

    Earthworm Jim

    Boogerman

    Maximum Carnage

  7. I had a similar accident happen when I first got my 360. My dog had bumped the TV stand and knocked the 360 over. It put a huge gouge my copy of Gears of War. I took mine to Game Crazy. They charged something like $3 to buff it out on their machine. Worked great. You can still see where it was slightly, but it plays fine.

Funny thing is the store clerk knew exactly what happened when I brought it in. His word of advice, "always keep your 360 on it's side." I have never stood it up since. :P

  8. Most damning of all, since the new dash it takes several MINUTES before I can select my Live Arcade games. As in, I don't even get the option to view the list while it populates. This keeps me from playing my games, and is VERY BAD.

I hear ya on that one. Everyone says it's supposed to be faster, but I swear mine is slower. Takes forever to load lists, arcade, etc and makes me miss the old dashboard.

I can't stand the avatars either. Call me picky but I HATE how they all stand with their hips out to the side. Makes them look like those Bratz dolls. I dress mine as ridiculous as possible so it looks nothing like me.

  9. I've had a lot of the same experiences that 2600Lives has had. Sometimes you have a great match, other times you get an "Akuma jerk". It's definitely hit or miss.

I really wish there was a way to be able to see a players ranking before accepting/entering a match with them (unless I've missed it somewhere?). I would just avoid the high ranked players like the plague. :P

The game is still awesome though and I've had some awesome Street Fighter nights with some friends of mine. We play the old "you lose, you pass the controller" style. Makes for a lot of fun.
