  1. I always find it funny when people are so obssessed and determined trying to get their latest version of Windows to act / behave like a previous version. You know if you actually adapted to those annoying new changes YOU MAY just find after a while that you actually like the new features and changes and find it hard to go back to the old ways! I know I did! OK now let all the excuses, whining and comments about why I am wrong begin....NOW!

@atarian63 as someone who follows these things yeah, whatever. All I know is on my experience Vista was a memory and resource hog while Windows 7 seems to be everything that was promised with Vista and more. Win7 may "be" Vista but even with all the updates, fixes and patches Vista still sucks in comparison. I have used both extensively so I speak from experience.

I generally run Windows XP in "Windows Classic" mode with the classic Start Menu, but beyond that, I agree with your point about making a new OS look like an old OS. I also agree that Windows 7 is not "the same thing" as Windows Vista. There's some code reuse, but that's true with all versions of Windows. In my experience, 7 is the OS that Vista should have been. Makes me glad I skipped Vista.

Or you can run Linux and configure your desktop to work exactly the way you want it, instead of accepting a "one size fits all" solution.
