  1. Got me thinking about them after watching this new awesome video by MVG.

GP2X Wiz - The Handheld Retro Emulation Beast from 2009

    Description -

The GP2X Wiz is an early ARM based gaming handheld device that released in 2009 by Game Park Holdings. While it was not a success, the Wiz was very popular with emulation enthusiasts due to its open platform and many popular emulators were ported to run on the device. With the impressive specifications of the GP2X Wiz meant it could run many systems at good levels of performance. And it came complete with an AMOLED Touch screen. In today's episode we take a deep dive into the GP2x Wiz and see why it was considered an emulation beast as far back as 2009. Please Enjoy!

Today it would seem we are spoiled for choice by handheld emulation devices by the likes of ANBERNIC, MIYOO, POWKIDDY etc, and though I don't have any of the modern options back when things like the GP2X debuted I was actively working and collecting and was really into them. After this recent video on the GP2X WIZ I pulled these out of my collection. The Open Pandora, GPH CAANOO, the Dingoo of course my GP2X WIZ. These were the open source handheld Pioneers that paved the way for and held options that we have today. 😎👍

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Good one Rob!!

I'll tell ya this brother man, If they make a Garfield game for the Neo-Geo to sell to the public, I'll buy you the game for you to have in the collection for the Neo Geo CD to play. If I recall, I believe you mentioned that you had the unit.

But either way, I'm a man of my words and would do that for you. :)

Well don't bother, even IF it should happen, a couple of years ago I had about half my collection stolen from our storage unit and sadly that included one barely used NEO GEO CDZ 🤷‍♂️I was devastated and so disheartened I gave up collecting, we do not have the room and I've learned the hard way not to put anything more in our storage locker that I am not willing to lose 😝 Oh, I live happily with the remainder of my collection and focus on that now and honestly, I was not too upset about losing some items (looking at you Phillips CD-i) but some depressed me for some time, the Neo Geo CDZ, Modded Sega Saturn, like new Sega Genesis Model 1, 3DO FZ-10, 2 ColecoVisions (my dear wife replaced one so I could use all my accessories) etc, etc.

Boy Cindy would love to hear that comment if she just stopped by AtariAge on the forums we can maybe influence her to relive her high school days and get a 2600 (or preferably a 5200) and then send it out to Jesse Hardesty and the good folks over Ivory Tower for a UAV mod like they did with my 7800 (and my 5200 this coming month once I get some money saved up), Cindy and I both grew up on Atari back in 1983, the same year I got my first 5200 and since I’m still playing mine maybe Cindy can get back into the mold.

i now see steam deck as a choice. is it using the same amd chip as the vcs?

The Steam Deck definitely has a more powerful APU. Designed to run more demanding games than the AtariVCS hands down.

  5. Does anyone here own a STEAMDECK? I don't sadly but I am still fascinated by it and this recent video gets into another great use for it, EMULATION!

    VIDEO DESCRIPTION -

Atari Jaguar emulation and Atari Jaguar CD emulation took huge strides in 2023 with BigPEmu, the best Atari Jaguar emulator...and today you can play Atari Jaguar games on Steam Deck with EmuDeck 2.2 and BigPEmu! SO let me show you how to get it set up!

When enough of you keep asking me for the SAME THING I try to listen...so here we go; Steam Deck coverage! But of course this is a retro gaming channel so it's not like we are going to talk about modern PC Gaming on the Steam Deck...we are going to talk about the new updates to EmuDeck as we now have EmuDeck 2.2 with Sega Model 3 emulation via the Supermodel Emulator, Sega Model 2 emulation with Model 2 emulator, More Dreamcast and NAOMI emulation with the Flycast emulator and Atari Jaguar emulation with BigPEmu!

Yes, I have had a look on the thread, just don't want to go through every single page for the last 6 years or so. lol

Not a lot of activity on the thread at the moment, so thought I would create another.

Regardless there is no point in creating a new thread when an existing thread exists. As I think you're starting to find out. If you want to talk about N64 simply start a new subject in the current existing thread, it doesn't matter that there is already 6 years of content in that thread as new posts will be bumped to the top and anyone interested in the subject can choose whether they add to it or not. Attempting to take away or compete with the existing thread is pointless and just adds to the problem. Imagine if everyone who had a particular subject of interest just created a brand new thread when a current one already exists, pointless.

Hello all , nice to be here.

As per my username, my first computer was an Atari 130XE.   All my friends had C64s or CPC 464 or 6128s or spectrums.

I am not going to go into the 'which machine was better' argument as such as the ZX for example was much worse.

I remember going along with my friends to the game shop and there were NO Atari games for me to buy. There were the same Atari 2600 quality like games on the shelf for years. I can't remember exactly but I think there were No games past 1986 ..or I don't remember any.

So given the Atari's capabilities, whatever those were, they were not insignificant, why did all the other platforms share game launches but Atari was not invited to the party?

What made Atari such an undesirable machine to make games on ?

I really, really want to know, seeing how I am scarred for life by this...

"I am not going to go into the 'which machine was better' argument"

Then why comment HERE? That is the point of THIS THREAD, so continuing a conversation about the questions you have asked would derail this topic.

You should have asked your questions in a new separate thread.....................
