Atarieviewer - Reviews of 8-bit games
OldSchoolRetroGamer replied to MisterKerr's topic in Gaming Publications and Websites
Please do more video reviews, I like your style and nothing beats seeing the games in play. -
OK, too cool! MY friend Daniel Bienvenu aka newcoleco who I narrated the video for his Colecovision project has followed up my leed on making a Shout Out video to thank his subscribers. THIS IS REALLY COOL BECAUSE the video is showing an actual Colecovision ROM he created that plays a currently popular song I think you will recognize and displays the names of his subscribers, of course I am one of them. On top of that though he includes a download link to the ROM. This can be loaded into a Colecovision emulator or if your lucky like me to have a Colecovision 128 in 1 USB cartridge I can transfer the rom to it and load it onto my actual Colecovsion. SIMPLE TRANSLATION: my user name MAXIMUMRD displayed on a real Colecovision! THAT IS COOL! THANKS DANIEL! FYI : I AM MENTIONED AT 2:12 and 4:43 in the video!

Intellivision system with 20 boxed games
OldSchoolRetroGamer replied to Spud's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Nice! I have an INTV II but there is something to be said for the original model! Good luck too you. -
Totally agree but online backup is marketed by companies selling services based on fear to customers who do not know better. To bad for the uninformed consumer.

Great post! It is nice some of the lesser known consoles can give someone those feelings and memories. I felt like I was the luckiest kid in the world the Christmas I opened a Colecovision and about 10 of the best games and I think that is way today it reigns as my personal favorite classic system! I like the underdog systems too. Thanks for sharing...........

OK, you might be surprised but I just got finished using Pro System emulator for 7800 ROMS and was really impressed, I certainly am not new to emualtion but other than the 2600 Pro System is the only other Atari emulator I have used. Soooooo I would really like to play some 5200 roms, what is the best emulator for this? I prefer if possible something as goos a Pro System, something that defintely will use my PC controller, it was a blast using a XBOX 360 PC gamepad to play old 7800 games, hell why bother with virtual console LOL!

Awesomest looking game systems ever
OldSchoolRetroGamer replied to Gabriel's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Wow! That IS beautiful! I think might paint my SEARS VIDEO ARCADE II White with gold trim.......... -
Despite appearances the people who use such devices are the minority, trust me Nintendo makes tons of $$$$$. Sure being able to play copied games cuts into some profit (not as much as they would claim I am sure) but piracy has been around since the beginning in one form or another. The big companies will go on trying to defeat it and will continue to fail...........

Idea for a new subforum
OldSchoolRetroGamer replied to Warriorisabouttodie's topic in Modern Console Discussion
But......aren't there enough OTHER forum sites for this sort of thing? I mean really............ Sites like this are few and far between......why infect them with talk of "other" playforms? Sure there are those that think "well what can subforums hurt?....but really can't you get your fix elsewhere? -
Action Max Lightgun System VHS to DVD?
OldSchoolRetroGamer replied to Shawn's topic in Classic Console Discussion
What a great idea! In fact ANY type of gaming that originated on tape could easily be converted to DVD and likely hold the entire collections on fewer DVD's with no wear! Hopefully somebody takes on the project! -
What do you want in a Famiclone?
OldSchoolRetroGamer replied to StoneAgeGamer's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Well built, full compatibility, good cannection and output options at a price that is more attractive then hunting down a real original system on ebay, it's not rocket science really. Is it possible or likely? I don't know............ -
Thanks for your replies and input guys. I wont try the drop (though I thought about it lol!) I will try pushing down on all the chips and see if that helps, though I am thinking even without the bombs error message the display is still very distorted. Anyway thanks to STGuy1040 I have an 1040STf on the way which although missing a couple keys (can I use the 520 keys in their place?) DOES work, I don't have a monitor for it YET as it doesn't have RF out but as long as it works I will probably stick with the 1040, then I will decide what to do with the 520ST if I can't get it working. I will let you guys know, maybe if some of you more technically inclined fellows are interested I could sell or trade it to you and hopefully you can get it working WITH the memory upgrade, I wish I was more savy with this type of thing but I just don't have the time to learn nowadays. Ah well, at some point I just want to end up will a complete functional ST system, it's mostly just to have for my collection and make videos for my Youtube channel and Facebook group.....................

It is a sad day, after receiving the PSU for the 520ST (Thanks walter_J64bit!), I think in fact the computer is broke........... While the PSU seems fine, it powers on the 520, unfortunately it seems the 520 is broken. It displays RF to TV all distorted, and I see a graphic on the screen that appears in my mind at least to look like a row of "bombs" you know the cartoon type that looks like a big black bomb with a fuse on top, does this indicate something or am I seeing things? Sometimes this is joined by the graphic of a BUMBLEBEE? Weird I know..... Yes it's disappointing to say the least........... Too bad as I am the one who posted pics showing what several of you assumed was a homemade ram upgrade, perhaps it had gone wrong? Well, that is last time I buy a computer that is "untested" with missing PSU, I got it for just the cost of shipping, I guess you get what you pay for........DOH! Here are images if it helps?

Nice review, I subscribed too!

I still am waiting to receive my PSU so I don't even know if it's actually functioning but anyways I opened my recently acquired 520STm and after removing the shielding I noticed under the keyboard to the bottom-right a strip of cardboard, slowly lifting it reveals some type of chips on the board which are wired in a fashion to more chips attached to the underside of the cardboard, this doesn't look professional or factory made to me, is this normal? The machine in question: Cover off, the cardboard is just by the keyboard connector: The unproffesional looking peice of cardboard: The chips onboard soldered to the ones underneath the cardboard: Lastly hopefully a clearer and better shot: So....is this normal? A known mod or something other? Thanks......
