Instantly when I read that I recalled a few. Keep in mind I grew up a only child in a single parent family. That said, my MOTHER though not really into videogames, she DID enjoy and even got really good at a few back in the day. Colecovision. - Mr. Do! and Ken Uston BlackJack/Poker. The Black Jack and Poker was pretty much a given but she also took to Mr. Do! to the point that we were pretty competitive. We both got to the point we could roll the score and so it was more about how many times you could roll the score, so for example if I rolled the score 3 times, I would come home and she would have beaten that and I would immediately go and beat that, over and over. At some point we pretty much just had to agree that we were both pretty amazing at Mr. Do! lol. Some time later after getting the Nintendo 8 bit system there was the usual family Duck Hunt competitions. After those systems though she pretty much lost interest.

There is always someone hating on some aspect of gaming, some era, for attention or other reason. I remember having to continuously "defend" my choice of platform back in my AMIGA computing days, took me a long time to realize there are people that will just never "Get it" especially if they did not experience it first hand and really even if they did in the end, like taste in music, movies, art everyone has their own taste and expectations and often nostalgia or memories attached to it, so these days I just try my best (I DO NOT CLAIM TO ALWAYS BE SUCCESSFUL AND I CAN BE JUST AS GUILTY, YES I AM WELL AWARE NO NEED TO POINT OUT EXAMPLES ) but I do TRY to just let people like what they like and ignore those who don't. I have only issues when someone goes as far to "HATE" on something, at least something harmless as ones choose platform of entertainment. To me HATE is a strong word that should be reserved for very specific things. If you do not enjoy or like a period of gaming, pre-NES or hell pre-PS2 I have no problem with that, but to say you actually "hate it", I mean, what is that even about? Did it touch you in your naughty spots? Did a 2600 fall on your head as a child? If not why the hate? It is like people who do console smashing videos, I do not believe they actually hate it, but it is done for attention and reaction which is why all they deserve is to be ignored, ignore them, like what you like and game one and screw the haters. You will go frigging insane worrying what others like and enjoy, trying to change their minds or see your way, it simply is draining and not worth it, I promise you.

Dedicated for sure, unless for extreme budget or space reasons always better to use a dedicated player. I also think the extra wear and tear is not worth it on a console.

That case pictured in the image is the model I have except mine has the MAGNAVOX label. I like it, I even have the Mpeg cart plugged in under the left side panel. Honestly, even though this is a joke / parody I would love one, mostly because most original CD-i consoles are a ticking time bomb internally the timekeeper module are ready to fail, the batteries end up needing to be replaced unfortunately it is not a simple fix or mod, you literally have to cut away at the timekeeper module to remove the old battery, a flaw in the design, once the battery fails unlike other consoles it does not just lose the date keeping but can cause boot failure as well. Again, if this were to become a real thing as highly unlikely I would be all over it but I would want two models, one with the BEST 20 titles and one with the WORST 20 titles for laughs. Of course one that could be hacked to add titles would be the best option.

For those that did not watch it (you really should, that is why I embedded and not just link) judging by some comments, seems some are under the impression this is real? TO BE CLEAR it is a total joke / parody, made clear in the video about how ridiculous it would be to have such a tiny screen and device. Sorry, I really didn't think it would be required but going on comments it seems some assumed this was legit. I assumed the joke was self explanatory. It's 60% more mini than the Micro !!!! ​IT'S NINTENDO SO YOU WILL BUY IT ! Then again, considering some of those cheapo import knockoffs on places like AliExspress this really would not be too far off....
