Steve Tucker of Atarimax MIA?
OldSchoolRetroGamer replied to hloberg's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Posts don't get deleted as that will mess with the structure of the forum too much, think about all the people that contribute to threads, why should their comments just disappear. They simply remain for reference. THOUGH YOU MAY have it LOCKED if you request an admin to do so....maybe? Don't worry, in a couple weeks or a month or 3 months a brand new thread with the same Steve Tucker concerns is sure to surface again, it is somewhat of a tradition here. -

Please remember that "Ataribox" is not EVEN the current "Atari" http://www.wired.co.uk/article/atari-box-console-2017-specs "The Atari that’s making the Ataribox has almost nothing to do with the company whose name it goes by. The three Atari companies, which all filed for bankruptcy in January 2013, re-emerged one year later under the stewardship of French financial consultant Frédéric Chesnais. As of March 2014, Atari had ten employees. Atari Interactive, the company making this console, is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Atari, SA. a French holding company headquartered in Paris, which also owns Atari, Inc."

XBox One X came out today, thoughts?
OldSchoolRetroGamer replied to djour's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Just keep it man, I have no doubt at some point newer titles that really push the newer model will absolutely chug or even not be compatible (despite Microsoft claims ) on older models, it is more future proof. -

Video Game Review Show Tips
OldSchoolRetroGamer replied to mhmrules's topic in Gaming Publications and Websites
Just do not make your reviews overly LONG, whether game or movie reviews I always cringe and do not click if I see anything going over 15 minutes. YOU DO NEED A REVIEW THAT GOES ON AS LONG AS WHAT YOU ARE REVIEWING lol. A brief over view , some points and wrap it up. People have limited viewing time and you mix this with a over saturation of channels and videos to choose from mixed with the shortened attention span of the modern viewer. A nice Intro is cool but make it catchy and to the point and nothing over like 20 sec or so trust me. Other than that, be yourself (we do not need ANOTHER AVGN or overly cynical or Heavy Metal loud or coked up personality type) , if you think you are funny MAKE SURE YOU ARE before constantly trying to insert humor, enjoy whatever you do (these things come through believe me) you do NOT need the best equipment or production skills but some preparation along with research and EFFORT go a long way, good lighting and clear videos will beat overly long self centered videos any time. DO NOT impose your taste in music, you will capture a minority niche fan base perhaps but personally I cannot tell you how many times I clicked off a video because of overly loud continuous music throughout the video drowning out the narration. Just my 2 cents. YES! Not a particular title but personally I LOVE reviews done on lesser known or unusual titles. I do NOT need to see anymore videos about how E.T. SUCKS or Mario 3 is the greatest. Seek out titles that might be less discussed gems or hell even bad games, at least something new over hearing the same things over and over again. -

For sale, a somehow non working US 32x system
OldSchoolRetroGamer replied to Gamer888's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Check THIS video around the 6min 15sec mark to compare how the ribbons should look. Googling terms like SEGA 32X RIBBON REPAIR - will give you many results to look into. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0yo8fMEr3yo -

OldSchoolRetroGamer replied to Gamer888's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Likely because the 32x merely passes regular genesis carts through, only the 32x games actually would require the special chips. Still odd they are not working at all though. -

I've seen her on TV as long as I remember... Oh yeah, she was in a couple games for the Atari ST and a pinball game on the Lynx. =)

Not sure where to drop this / ataribox
OldSchoolRetroGamer replied to dneedham's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Ah that old chestnut. Time was even I thought being "open" might be something that would benefit a gaming console. However, the failures of the Infinium Phantom console (Linux based Vaporware) and other proposed open systems to even the many that were released only to eventually fail ( GCW Zero, Pandora, GP2X, Ouya etc ) indicates the idea of open source gaming platforms is more appealing than the actual result. Like it or not launching a successful gaming console requires deep pockets and big companies, the idea of open source actually gaining anymore than a niche footing in the market has been a proven failure over and over. -

Spartan: Ataribox meets Dreamcast 2
OldSchoolRetroGamer replied to godslabrat's topic in Modern Console Discussion
More "proposals" and signatures blah blah blah, what these clowns do not seem to get is SEGA have no interest, IF they do want to re-enter the market I am sure they have their own way of doing so. https://spartanconsole.com/ From the site - Is the Spartan and Sonic 4K endorsed by Sega? No. The Spartan is not endorsed by Sega. This project serves to build a working prototype to propose to Sega. In turn, entice them to come back to the console hardware market with a current gen console. Sonic 4K is a fan made tech demo. It will not be sold for commercial purposes. HERE WE GO AGAIN IN OTHER WORDS ONCE AGAIN SOME RABID FANS THINK SEGA IS GOING TO GIVE A CRAP, ENOUGH ALREADY, This will serve only to ONCE AGAIN stir up all the Sega fanboys and get hopes up only to result in another failed attempt. "Project Dream", Dreamcast II etc, etc, etc, rinse and repeat. AND BEFORE anyone starts with the "Oh but anything is possible! Stop being "negative"! " No, no. there is nothing of substance or anything based in reality here, we keep seeing this, over and over and over for years now, all the "WANTING" and "WISHING" and "DREAMING" are NOT going to do a damn thing to bring a worth while Sega console to market. It is not being "negative" or having a glass half empty viewpoint it is common sense and being rooted in reality. I LOVE SEGA , I have had about every console and handheld and still have several including Sega CDX, SMS, 3 Dreamcasts etc which I will always love and enjoy. But every time there is a Fan based project, proposal, online petition, rendered images and a lot of vague double talk and saying things like "We are hoping to entice Sega back into the console market" the end result is ALWAYS the same and if you been following and paying any type of attention you damn well know it, every two bit online gaming related article and blogger spin it into some positive great new Sega hope, fans get stirred into a frenzy to the point of getting mad or defensive if you so much as question the validity of it, there is a lot of talk and hype and noise and then.....either excuses or it completely disappears or to reemerge in another form or fashion in 3 month, 6 months, or a year, LATHER RINSE AND REPEAT It has to be said and it is OK, I am quite use to the misinformed and defensive fan backlash proclaiming me quite wrongly to be a HATER or not Party Spoiler or the most ludicrous accusation that I merely hate SEGA (my collection / history would say different ) because in the end it is always the same result, I see no reason to expect anything different THIS TIME or THE NEXT TEN TIMES If anything I am a Sega Fan who does not let my love or nostalgia guide me or blind me to what common sense and repeated history has taught me, you do not have to like it but you should at least try to accept it and deal with it. Just wanting this madness to stop. -
Spartan: Ataribox meets Dreamcast 2
OldSchoolRetroGamer replied to godslabrat's topic in Modern Console Discussion
You nailed it, Sega Spartan? More like Sega Fartin am I right? ENOUGH ALREADY. No amount of petitions or signatures by Sega Fans is going to make the current Sega take notice or give a shit, they are too busy lending their license and IP's to cheap Chinese handheld and clone manufacturers for quick cashing in on Sega fans nostalgia.
