"VCS will ship soon" - Perhaps if you are willing to believe them, of course more excuses and delays could pop up, not exactly unheard of from Team Atari is it? ON THE OFF CHANCE backers actually start receiving them, I suspect the only change in narrative will be the CONFIRMATIONS that this was not worth the money. Seriously, besides changing from what was initially promised, adding "features" nobody asked for I guarantee if this thing didn't have the "ATARI" branding attached or the shell to attract Atari fans it would have been completely ignored and over looked like all the other "retro" crap consoles pouring out of china these last few years, but a certain niche of collectors bought into the hype because "ATARI". I HAVE ALWAYS wanted it to actually ship and reach backers hands and look forward to THEM making videos and doing reviews etc, if it satisfies and makes those people happy, though I suspect they will claim it does even if it doesn't because they need to justify their choice 😜 so be it. Until backer's actually receive it though I refuse to believe a damn thing that has been claimed or "demonstrated" as it's all been done under controlled environments or people that have a stake in selling it.

This is the part you haven't explained clearly. If it boots to whatever Linux-based OS Fauxtari is using for their UI, how is it running Windows natively?
Having just now reluctantly browsed their site it appears you have "Atari Mode" to boot from it's own Linux based environment OR "PC MODE" means booting the unit off an externally detected USB device with Windows or whatever OS you want installed. So limited to the transfer speed of the usb port and external device, not truly running natively (running Windows off an external device has never really been a good idea) and so even though it not emulation it wont be booting Windows off it's internal storage and still hindered by the specs of the machine. So as I stated earlier, it will run only older and the least demanding Windows games. Sounds like one would need to purchase Windows, an external device (whatever size wanted for storage and these amazing Windows games 😅) all to run them in the worse way not to mention the additional costs for all of it, all of this just subtracting from any perceived value of this being a worthwhile all in one do all machine.

Using PCSX2 and ePSXe emulators I been having a blast the last few nights playing some new to me and old favorites EA racing titles.
Been playing Nascar Rumble - Playstation & the sequel Rumble Racing - Playstation 2 and remembering what a blast it was playing these back in the day. Really just adrenaline rush racing with power ups like Mario Kart, the "NASCAR" licensing didn't really add anything to the point they dropped it in the PS2 follow up. Just spent a few hours playing both, forgot what a blast they are to play. 😛😎 Not the prettiest games and not often brought up even in retro gaming circles so thought I would mention and recommend them to anyone who may have over looked them. PICS FOR REFERENCE .
I played a couple hours of Road Rash 3D - PS1. Ah man, it all came back like it was just the other day, all the locations, getting my as handed to me the last minute before the finish line etc. Good times. 😆😎

I mean come on, it runs PC games and software, so it already has a better library than the jaguar and most atari hardware systems in general.
It remains to be seen at the end of the day just how well it runs PC games and with those specs it wont be a worthwhile experience with anything but the oldest and least demanding PC games. Also, as for your suggestions on what already makes it "BETTER" than the Jaguar, well, that wont actually be true until the AtariVCS is actually in the hands of the people who backed it and pre-ordered etc, until then it is just all talk and hype and yet to be fulfilled promises that have seen nothing but excuses and delays so, not really sure why you'd expect more like minded people like yourself until this actually materializes? The Jaguar for all it's faults and all it lacked had the special feature of actually being in the hands of customers that purchased it so that in itself sets it miles ahead of the mythical AtariVCS in most of our minds. 😛😉

Yes can confirm it is an overblown issue that would affect a very specific small percentage of people (if indeed any) but you will see all types of reports and articles blowing things out of proportion to grab a bit of that attention the new consoles are enjoying right now. Until you start seeing reports of major returns or failures there is literally nothing to worry about.

My understanding is PS5 comes with a game that gives you a good taste of what the new controller can do with haptic feedback.
Astros playroom -
Astro's Playroom is a 3D platformer in which the player controls Astro Bot using the DualSense controller. ... The haptic feedback of the controller is used to provide realistic tactile vibrations from actions such as walking on different types of material, walking through rainfall and into wind. -

LOL, you don't watch those shows or channels?
I watched them all when they originally ran 😛 Even when I DID it was not something I would care to see in a Status update. Not exactly info that is hard to look up for yourself if interested.

Someone also made a really cool Unity 3D demo of the first area of the hospital from the first game too, just search Silent Hill Unity and it should pop up on YouTube if you just want to see it. He also made a section of the town, but the link he provided is dead. It looks like he ripped the textures too, so it's not just fan art.
Cool I will definitely look into it. I even had the PC ports of some of these Silent Hill games but honestly, I prefer just emulating the PS2 versions which imho look really nice running in higher resolution anyway.

Ran buttery smooth on my machine (Ryzen 1500x / 16gb / GTX 1060 6gb) but it is definitely overkill. All the specs are in the link I posted but specifically this link to the GETTING STARTED page will give you all the requirements including minimum and recommended. https://pcsx2.net/getting-started.html
Because I am nice I grabbed this screenshot of info for you as well. 😛 Click for larger image.

😎😍Well, that is just awesome, a while ago I read in a Silent Hill Facebook Group post someone asked about replaying Silent Hill 2, I have only played it originally on the PS2, someone mentioned to be sure to play the version that has the Maria sub scenario “Born From a Wish” and amazingly I never have! 😮 I loaded it up from the extended PS2 edition in PCSX2 emulator, looks and plays great, never thought I would be playing and experiencing anything Silent Hill 2 related that was new to me. LOVING THIS! The best part is in emulation I can far higher resolutions than the PS2 could ever run natively, works perfectly with my wireless Xbox 360 gamepad (like movement, drawing firing weapon, run, look etc were instantly configured!) and unlike some older PC ports of some PS2 games there is no issues with compatibility or requirements with newer versions of Windows.

I have no question before watching but it is nice, if I am understanding this correctly, to see them finally deliver on the promise of true backwards compatibility. To be clear, it is not necessarily important to me, I am not even necessarily convinced it is a good idea if it holds back a system in any way though that does not seem to be the case with the Xbox Series X being the current most powerful system, but past consoles promises of backwards compatibility always seemed half ass or just a means to get one to re-download or buy the titles all over again. If this truly is a case of just inserting the original media you already own and having it play that is cool.

Thanks for sharing, not that I would have backed it anyways since as I already mentioned I already had reservations with it being another kickstarter. These seem to be very reasonable red flags brought up in the article and at the very least anyone considering backing it should have a read to help decide for themselves. Everything always sounds like rainbows and roses during the funding process but we have experienced many times what can happen after a successful campaign.

Definitely some cool possibilities especially since an official N64 mini is likely to never happen. I AM concerned about yet another retro inspired console being on KICKSTARTER though.

Honestly, imho put it towards a new machine. I do not say this lightly as besides my modern desktop I have a modern laptop and about 6 older laptops of various configurations. I would not spend $75 CND (I live in BC
) on that laptop personally, upgrading to 6 or even 8 total gb will increase speed only slightly and allow to open some more browser tabs sooner but otherwise really not much difference. IF you insist sticking with this machine get the 8GB total so that both memory modules are equal speed etc, this may allow for Dual channel mode, this just makes more efficient use of the memory but again this is no miracle fix for the speed just makes more sense if you are upgrading anyways.

Firstly, a huge and long time ATARI fan here like many of you and still owner of several original Atari consoles and computer and accessories 😉 I lived and love the history of Atari OBVIOUSLY and it saddens me that Atari will never be even a fraction of what it once was even in the different stages (Atari / Warner / Tramiel) back in the day. But at the same time many people seem blindly loyal to that name and logo to the point the will even today, grab up anything officially labeled "ATARI" even though most of it is overpriced junk conning Atari fan consumers and gambling on their nostalgia. This is why even though Atari managed to market and complete a fund raising goal for the new upcoming AtariVCS, early on called the AtariBox but fans and backers keep defending them even though the console they were promised has changed, has been delayed several times with promised shipping dates over and over being pushed back, any engagement has been very controlled and curated with comments often getting removed or people being banned in forums or groups where they represented themselves whenever challenged or backed into a corner where they could not provide a "real" answer, hype marketing talk or skirting around the questions or giving non-answer answers seems to be their specialty. And yet the funny (sad? pathetic?) thing is backers or fans that STILL insist on defending them for really NO OTHER REASON than that blind nostalgia for a long dead company that keeps making promises but actually delivering on very little. Oh and to be clear, I AM NOT SAYING NOR DO I BELIEVE that the backers will never receive what they paid for, in fact at least at this point I still believe they will all receive something....eventually....maybe? 😜 but even that will be far from anything worth what they paid outside of collector purposes or that "official" Atari name and logo being worth a LOT (and admittedly it clearly is to some) I truly believe even the most hard core defender of the AtariVCS and the people behind it would have a totally different view and opinion of what's on offer and for the amount it cost as well as the project developers behaviors to date if it were all being handled by some small unknown start up that were not incorporating the ATARI brand name.
And once again, because I know some get triggered by such heresy defaulting to the usual claim I am a "Hater / NO FUN / troll / pessimist etc" this is not the case at all, I WOULD HAVE LOVED Atari to rise like a Phoenix from the ashes and again I am a long time Atari collector who has played and enjoyed Atari through history during all the ups and downs, I even loved and completed Raider of the Lost Ark and E.T. for 2600 backing the day 😎 But with I grow tired seeing the beloved Atari name whored out constantly on garbage product merely to capitalize on the once great brand.
Honestly, did not expect much but this video actually contains some good points and well stated views regarding "ATARI" today as well as the AtariVCS etc. Sure it is just regurgitating what many of us already know but before you dismiss it have a watch, some people could use this wake up call about modern ATARI especially the blind faithful who think anything modern day ATARI still has something worthwhile to offer.
