  1. Oh, is THAT where they are all hanging out? It figures. 😛
  2. 😀 If you are having issues with the way you've been treated thus far go ahead, create a new account, you will LOVE what happens next.......😆 and so will we come to think of it......
  3. Having just now reluctantly browsed their site it appears you have "Atari Mode" to boot from it's own Linux based environment OR "PC MODE" means booting the unit off an externally detected USB device with Windows or whatever OS you want installed. So limited to the transfer speed of the usb port and external device, not truly running natively (running Windows off an external device has never really been a good idea) and so even though it not emulation it wont be booting Windows off it's internal storage and still hindered by the specs of the machine. So as I stated earlier, it will run only older and the least demanding Windows games. Sounds like one would need to purchase Windows, an external device (whatever size wanted for storage and these amazing Windows games 😅) all to run them in the worse way not to mention the additional costs for all of it, all of this just subtracting from any perceived value of this being a worthwhile all in one do all machine.
  4. Using PCSX2 and ePSXe emulators I been having a blast the last few nights playing some new to me and old favorites EA racing titles. Been playing Nascar Rumble - Playstation & the sequel Rumble Racing - Playstation 2 and remembering what a blast it was playing these back in the day. Really just adrenaline rush racing with power ups like Mario Kart, the "NASCAR" licensing didn't really add anything to the point they dropped it in the PS2 follow up. Just spent a few hours playing both, forgot what a blast they are to play. 😛😎 Not the prettiest games and not often brought up even in retro gaming circles so thought I would mention and recommend them to anyone who may have over looked them. PICS FOR REFERENCE . I played a couple hours of Road Rash 3D - PS1. Ah man, it all came back like it was just the other day, all the locations, getting my as handed to me the last minute before the finish line etc. Good times. 😆😎
  5. It remains to be seen at the end of the day just how well it runs PC games and with those specs it wont be a worthwhile experience with anything but the oldest and least demanding PC games. Also, as for your suggestions on what already makes it "BETTER" than the Jaguar, well, that wont actually be true until the AtariVCS is actually in the hands of the people who backed it and pre-ordered etc, until then it is just all talk and hype and yet to be fulfilled promises that have seen nothing but excuses and delays so, not really sure why you'd expect more like minded people like yourself until this actually materializes? The Jaguar for all it's faults and all it lacked had the special feature of actually being in the hands of customers that purchased it so that in itself sets it miles ahead of the mythical AtariVCS in most of our minds. 😛😉
  6. Yes can confirm it is an overblown issue that would affect a very specific small percentage of people (if indeed any) but you will see all types of reports and articles blowing things out of proportion to grab a bit of that attention the new consoles are enjoying right now. Until you start seeing reports of major returns or failures there is literally nothing to worry about.
  7. My understanding is PS5 comes with a game that gives you a good taste of what the new controller can do with haptic feedback. Astros playroom - Astro's Playroom is a 3D platformer in which the player controls Astro Bot using the DualSense controller. ... The haptic feedback of the controller is used to provide realistic tactile vibrations from actions such as walking on different types of material, walking through rainfall and into wind.
  8. Yeah why not? I'll add Ubuntu Budgie alongside Win 10 on this old repurposed Sony Vaio Laptop 😜. At least it looks really nice and should be at least a little smoother on this Core2Duo / 4gb machine. 😎

  9. I watched them all when they originally ran 😛 Even when I DID it was not something I would care to see in a Status update. Not exactly info that is hard to look up for yourself if interested.
  10. Cool I will definitely look into it. I even had the PC ports of some of these Silent Hill games but honestly, I prefer just emulating the PS2 versions which imho look really nice running in higher resolution anyway.
  11. Ran buttery smooth on my machine (Ryzen 1500x / 16gb / GTX 1060 6gb) but it is definitely overkill. All the specs are in the link I posted but specifically this link to the GETTING STARTED page will give you all the requirements including minimum and recommended. https://pcsx2.net/getting-started.html Because I am nice I grabbed this screenshot of info for you as well. 😛 Click for larger image.
  12. Ugh, that video thumbnail is discouraging me from watching......................betting this will be the face of any backer that actually receives this garbage 🙄
  13. 😎😍Well, that is just awesome, a while ago I read in a Silent Hill Facebook Group post someone asked about replaying Silent Hill 2, I have only played it originally on the PS2, someone mentioned to be sure to play the version that has the Maria sub scenario “Born From a Wish” and amazingly I never have! 😮 I loaded it up from the extended PS2 edition in PCSX2 emulator, looks and plays great, never thought I would be playing and experiencing anything Silent Hill 2 related that was new to me. LOVING THIS! The best part is in emulation I can far higher resolutions than the PS2 could ever run natively, works perfectly with my wireless Xbox 360 gamepad (like movement, drawing firing weapon, run, look etc were instantly configured!) and unlike some older PC ports of some PS2 games there is no issues with compatibility or requirements with newer versions of Windows.
  14. 😎😛Was just heading to bed when I looked over on my shelf and noticed my Dreamcast with the weird custom lid and modem cover looks even weirder in the dim blue light emanating from the Christmas star decoration hanging in our living room.   125938226_10159309808658109_3966443440084726422_n.jpg?_nc_cat=101&cb=846ca55b-311e05c7&ccb=2&_nc_sid=8bfeb9&_nc_ohc=upxugV70Zj8AX8Neub_&_nc_ht=scontent.fyyc3-1.fna&oh=30687d5c2c11ee4a54d805acacb21179&oe=5FD95D14

  15. Available and didn't require a crowdfunding, already more impressive to me than the upcoming AtariVCS imho 😜😆
  16. Easy, just start a Youtube channel, gain thousands of subscribers and then you too may qualify for "free stuff"
  17. I have no question before watching but it is nice, if I am understanding this correctly, to see them finally deliver on the promise of true backwards compatibility. To be clear, it is not necessarily important to me, I am not even necessarily convinced it is a good idea if it holds back a system in any way though that does not seem to be the case with the Xbox Series X being the current most powerful system, but past consoles promises of backwards compatibility always seemed half ass or just a means to get one to re-download or buy the titles all over again. If this truly is a case of just inserting the original media you already own and having it play that is cool.
  18. Thanks for sharing, not that I would have backed it anyways since as I already mentioned I already had reservations with it being another kickstarter. These seem to be very reasonable red flags brought up in the article and at the very least anyone considering backing it should have a read to help decide for themselves. Everything always sounds like rainbows and roses during the funding process but we have experienced many times what can happen after a successful campaign.
  19. Definitely some cool possibilities especially since an official N64 mini is likely to never happen. I AM concerned about yet another retro inspired console being on KICKSTARTER though.
  20. Honestly, imho put it towards a new machine. I do not say this lightly as besides my modern desktop I have a modern laptop and about 6 older laptops of various configurations. I would not spend $75 CND (I live in BC ) on that laptop personally, upgrading to 6 or even 8 total gb will increase speed only slightly and allow to open some more browser tabs sooner but otherwise really not much difference. IF you insist sticking with this machine get the 8GB total so that both memory modules are equal speed etc, this may allow for Dual channel mode, this just makes more efficient use of the memory but again this is no miracle fix for the speed just makes more sense if you are upgrading anyways.
  21. It is funny how often I forget to fire up MAME to compare the arcade version of home ports, soooo many great arcade classics at our disposal in MAME. It is always interesting to see how different the original arcade version is since those were typically designed to challenge you to keep trying while consuming your coins and so home versions though maybe not always comparable graphically sometimes made up for it with additional features. I will definitely check out the link you mentioned. All these arcade games at my disposal, literally thousands so no matter how many times I fire it up even after all these years there is always something new to check out or great classics to re-experience. Puzzle, side scrolling shooters, racing, fighting, obscure Japanese and even clone and knock off games, though I COULD do without all the Mahjong titles I don't need. 😎
