  1. Not that I'm trying to lay down a rule or anything, but I have found that calling them SIO2PC/Serial and SIO2PC/USB sometimes helps. Now if only someone could get a card like http://www.brielcomputers.com/wordpress/?cat=14 working with SIO on one end and a flash drive on the other
  2. I've been looking to add a CX-24 to my collection. I'm not going to post pics because nearly everything's been photographed, but I've got the Atari XE light gun, the Sega phaser modified for Atari 8-bit, the Atari and Koala branded tablets, the Atari Light pen, the numeric keypad, a couple of CX-40s, the Sears Arcade controller, a pair of CX-50s, the Track & Field controller, and the CX-80 version of the trak-ball.
  3. Back to the storage unit to fish all of my disks back out.... Does anyone care about original cassette labels? I've got 6 boxes full upstairs.
  4. I like them both, but the Lynx I was the one I fell in love with in 1989, and still the one I play the most.
  5. I'd be able to do a 50% deposit on that by the end of the week if it'll help....
  6. candle, as always thank you for your patience with those of us less savvy and who haven't really done their homework about reading through past posts and threads.
  7. So am I reading correctly that despite the name, there are versions that are XL compatible? What if you've tried some of the "Easy XL Video Mods" already in the same unit?
  8. Is someone going to have to print a run of "1400XL" labels?
  9. Just did a BIN on five more packs of Talk & Teach cassettes that I didn't have already.
  10. Barnyard Blaster cart and manual. Gotta go get my modded Sega light gun out of storage now
  11. I've had workstations crash with bugs like that, created huge logs that filled up all free space. Ugly stuff. Good catch Albert!
  12. The original link is working again, just FYI.
  13. Is anybody still making cards or extensions to use multiple cartridges in an XL or XE machine?
  14. Ok so a little over a year ago, having yet to unearth my old 825/850 (which I still haven't done), I thought I'd order an 820 from Best. No problem. Came in a box within a box, but the printer had come loose of the original foam holding it in place, and had shattered. I _should_ have pushed the Postal Service for a refund due to the insurance, but didn't. I thought, oh hey, just broken plastic in a few places, I can fix this! HA! It IS working, more or less. The problem is that since the posts at the front of the machine for holding the ink ribbon broke off and I've never been able to realign them, when printing, it never advances the ribbon. It just uses the same bit over and over and over. So I packed it away a few months ago. I saw another one on eBay recently, at a decent price, and thought I'd try again. It's been a while since I bought it, but I just opened it up this afternoon, and guess what? The left side post for holding the ink ribbon had broken off, and it had fallen into the works. So I get out the superglue, get it all back together, power it up, try the advance button, and it made a HORRIBLE rattle. I gave it a couple more tries to see if I could figure out where it was stuck. Turned out that the notched belt in the front right side for the entire paper advancement mechanism had come loose. I managed to get it back on, turned it back on, and it seemed to be working! So I put the paper roll back in it, put the cover back on, turned it on, got a red light, pushed the yellow button.... ...and NOTHING. Turned it off. Turned it back on. Nada. Took the cover back off. Still no go. The only thing I noticed is that there's a definite double-click when you power it off, so I wonder if something went out/got fried during my first repair attempts. Yes, I checked the fuses in the back, they were actually fine, believe it or not. So I'm at a loss. Any troubleshooting suggestions from other 820 owners? Any parts I should try? Or does someone else want a pair of 820s to try to make a single working one out of?
  15. That's probably our fault for automatically assuming Atari between two Atari users I was never a real Commodore fan, but I do appreciate the work that people are pumping into keeping the vintage 8bits and Amigas alive, just as much as the Atari community on here (and other sites) for the various systems!
  16. So sadly, due to a single-car accident late this afternoon, I'm not going to be exhibiting after all. I'm fine, but due to my defensive instincts to avoid hitting another car, my car is not in good shape. I'll still stop by for a while though. pulpfan, I have exactly one of each kind of 1010, or I'd bring ya one. Someone was trying to sell some Atari peripherals on Rockford Craigslist recently (a DeKalb seller). As I recall it included another 1010, but I dunno if it's still listed.
  17. By chance do you have part numbers or something to search on for the adapter and ST extensions? Are they eBay only or does someone stock them regularly?
  18. Any contact information? How about I'm a doofus for forgetting the store info in the first post. No Strings Attached 248 E Lincoln Hwy DeKalb, IL 60115
  19. So wandering around trying to find an old desk phone (rotary or push button - I'm wanting one to set up with an acoustic modem, but I digress), I found that this shop in DeKalb has quite a stack of 5200 carts CIB, three or four Intellivision carts for the voice module, a handful of 2600 carts CIB, lots of loose 2600 carts from Atari, Imagic, Mattel...and one copy of Pac-Man for the 8 bit Atari. Feh. But if anyone else wants to go in and score a haul, everything was marked $2 each.
  20. Bah.....256K....why waste your time? cause its easier to find any ICD MIO, and then upgrade it to 1Meg if you want, then to specifically find a 256k one... sloopy. I think an ICD MI/O CIB would be a 'nice to have' item, but not at the price it's already got to. Then it becomes one of those "The wife'll kill me..." items. she would kill for $70? dude... send her over here, i will pay her $100 to visit my ex :'D when i got my first ICD MIO, i got it in a CL ad, 70 miles away, and the trans in my car blew half way there... i limped it to my parents house (about 14 miles), who lived half way there, then borrowed my mum car to drive the other 25 miles there, filled the trunk and back seat of my mum car... went back to my parents house, put all the stuff in my car to the point where the only open space was the drivers seat. My sister-in-law had her AAA take my car, and me, back in NJ... there was sooo much stuff, i STILL have a monitor and a boxed 1027 in my car now, and this was last october... sloopy. Jersey might be a bit too far. Nah we've had to become real budget watchers since the baby came in May. That's why I've hardly added anything to my Atari collection (or any of our other collections - she's a BIG Wizard of Oz collector) in the last 12 months.

  22. As stated, my 1450 board is spoken for, but if there is another run in the future, I'd be interested in one - IF someone else will do the soldering. I'll pay for the board and all the parts. I think I've had enough burns on my two hands in the past year.
