  1. I've had an 800XE for a couple of years now - the 1200XL was my holy grail until I finally got one. The 800XE works just great with a US power supply and I got a multi-standard flat panel TV/monitor from 220 Electronics (currently our main TV as our CRT/VCR unit died).
  2. Has there been enough interest to make this a possibility?
  3. If it just comes back to the other suggestion of pumping in some money to back Syzygy and its retro projects, I'm in for that. Maybe some day instead of the old "Atari - Syzygy Engineered" it'll say "Syzygy - Atari Engineered"...or something like that. Curt - get better! Marty - are you keeping a list of fanbois waving money?
  4. Gah! Now I want a 5200. The wife will kill me.
  5. I have a copy. Haven't read it cover to cover, but I posted on Facebook that I wouldn't pay extra to get it shipped had I known. I would have waited for it to show up in bookshops on this side of the Atlantic.
  6. Are you saying you've mapped the pointer so that it works with a touchscreen under Android?
  7. Many years ago for kicks I ran the Lynx's Fidelity Chess Challenge against a couple of Chess programs, including the Atari cartridge, and it stomped over every single one of them.
  8. Thanks! And my XF551 manual made it in the mail, so hopefully I won't have to bug you guys if something else comes up!
  9. Click on "More Reply Options" then add the attachment.
  10. I see at least four unreleased Lynx games on Matt's list. I'm not holding my breath or anything, but even finding the music cues/sound effects so we could hear what might have been... Well, I can dream, right?! Thank you, AGAIN, Scott (and Happy New Year)! I'm going to have to find those cartridges tonight and try the eggs.
  11. Stupid question - why is "Into the Eagle's Nest" on eBay right now for a completely insane price? I didn't think it was that rare? I have a Firebird, but half of the plastic cover is missing (the back)! Go figure.
  12. I have a translator on cartridge, but I've never seen a passthrough. Who sold them? Pics?
  13. In the past, I have seen a lot of people come on here needing to rant, and usually with good reason. Today, I want to give a rave out to Bruce. I ordered a power supply and SIO cable late last week via eBay. Paid right away with PayPal, as I always do, and didn't really think/worry about it, I figured it would be here sometime after New Year's. HA! I don't know how the stars were aligned, but Bruce sent it on the 29th and I had it on 12/31/12. My jaw is still on the floor. Thank you Bruce - if you read this! Thanks everyone who has been here in the last year (and longer!) on AtariAge and been able to help me in one way or another. I hope we all have a great 2013!
  14. And while I'm on the subject, can anyone recommend a good, inexpensive digital ammeter? Preferably not the clamp style.
  15. No, and I'm actually not even sure the drive is in the Drive One position - I found someone with a user's manual on eBay just today and snapped it up. I did just get out my good old RadioShack pocket multimeter and it's showing an AC voltage of about 10.5-10.6. Is that about right for that model?
  16. I just did some searching through other threads, but did not really find anything related to what I'm looking at. I got a used XF551 recently, got a power adapter (C017945) and 3 foot SIO cable separately, and I decided to try it all out today. When I flick the power switch, the light in front comes on green for just a moment, then goes out again. Same when I shut it off. I put a known blank disk in, turned it on, the light came on, the disk was spun a bit, but then the light went right out and the spinning stopped. Same when switched back off. As many of you know, I will be the first to admit I'm not a genius when it comes to soldering, but am I at least in the right ballpark suspecting it might be a problem at the switch itself? Of course, granted, I just unboxed the power supply without actually testing it, so I should probably do that too. Thoughts?
  17. I got a shipping notice yesterday from Steve. I'll probably get it after Christmas, but who cares?
  18. Picked mine up yesterday from the Post Office. It's true, and I rarely say this about tech, but it IS a beautiful little device! I didn't really realize how "little" until I had it in my hands. Hooked it up to a 130 XE right away - fantastic! Thanks so much for this!
  19. With all due respect to my friends in the UK, one of my favorite "What The?!" stories is the Doctor Who story that had been cleared for viewing in 1977, later slapped with an adult rating for VHS release (but I think they cut the offending scenes), and then that was relaxed for DVD release. Why? Someone wielding nunchaku briefly in the first episode. Personally, I'm against censorship (I've stood against video game bans here in Illinois) and pro-parent/user choice. Course, by the time my girl's old enough to get into gaming, we'll probably have holodecks, and she'll be able to get around anything she wants to get at content. Banning River Raid really DOES seem silly to me - but I've never gotten into gory games, not even for the 'shock your parents' value. Just not my cup of tea. And it looks like the consoles are all trying to keep AO rated anything off of their systems, so why is the Mature rating so special?
  20. Just bought from Bryan - wonder if it's the same XF551 mentioned above? Anyway, the price was right, the shipping/packing was expertly done, and I'm a happy new '551 owner.
  21. Going out in the order they were placed, good to know! Thanks Curt! I had the exact same question myself.
  22. I would take you up on that for my office secret santa, but I don't think my recipient is a retro gaming mama in any way shape or form. I've been thinking, for her, flavored coffee samples, but I have to make sure she's not one of the office tea drinkers.
  23. I made a stop after work. DG had three Genesis consoles, 1 Flashback 4, and no Genesis portables.
  24. <fakerant>I hate you all! The only thing I've managed lately wasn't eBay, it was a flippin Play n Trade, and I only NOW got my first Atari 400/800 Imagic carts (had several of the 2600 ones, but they're long gone). *HUFF PUFF* *RANT RAVE* Ok, I'm done. </fakerant> Still, it pales in comparison, nice finds you guys! Seriously, hats off!
