  1. Jeez. I mean, people with money like that to blow... where are they going to display that? In between the Monet and the Renoir in the den?
  2. Monday-Tuesday Bump. Still lots left! Some stuff was removed from pending, so those who might have passed on a few items because of that might want to take another quick (uh, heh, yeah) look and see if something they might have wanted has become available again. Whatever's not sold by the end of the week will get eBayed. You don't want sskatari2600 to get it, do you?
  3. Just install an outdoor AC outlet before you do. You may be needing it for a while.
  4. Feh! Post lengths in this new version of the forum are even shorter, so here's what's cut off: PAL Atari 2600 Games Activision - River Raid II (Australian clamshell box, cart, warranty card) - [ $6.00 ] Activision - Hot Action Pak - (3-in-1 + 1 Multicart; missing River Raid cart) - Ghostbusters/Tennis/Plaque Attack (Australian clamshell box and 1 cart only) - [ $7.00 ] Activision - Rad Action Pak - (3-in-1 + 1 Multicart) - Kung Fu Master/Frostbite/Freeway on one cart, plus Chopper Command (Australian clamshell box and 2 carts only0 - [ $10.00 ] Activision - Sports Action Pak - (4-in-1 Multicart) Enduro/Ice Hockey/Fishing Derby/Dragster (Australian clamshell box and cart only) - [ $10.00 ] CBS - Roc 'n Rope (CIB) - [ $8.00 ] Activision - Kung Fu Master (CIB) - [ $6.00 ] Parker Bros. - Action Force (Beveled gatefold box and cart only) - [ $6.00 ] Salu - Acid Drop (CIB) - [ $10.00 ] Salu - Ghostbusters II (CIB) - [ $15.00 ] Telegames - Kung Fu Superkicks (CIB) - [ $8.00 ] Ubi Soft - Pick 'n Pile (CIB) - [ $5.00 ] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Holy mother of God. I just wrote a book. I think I’ve typed so much the last 24 hours that evolution has kicked in and is presently growing me four new fingers. So, yeah. No more typing. Fingers numb. Go buy. Thank you. Also still have some manuals and some hardware available.
  5. Incidentally, for those who have PMed be with their preliminary wants, check the list again against the price lists and see what you really want and what you'd like to leave behind then PM me again with your final list of wants. That'll make things easier.
  6. *ding* Time's up! I've pondered. I've considered. I've decided and gave warning. This is it. The vast majority of my three years of collecting all listed here all nice and neat. Over 700 items all told. Dirt common to unbelievably rare. Loose and boxed. Minty to Slightly Icky. Country and western. Well, what more can I say really? I'm not ditching the place or cutting out the Atari stuff altogether. I've kept my core favourites, homebrews, etc. And one day, maybe even later this year, I might just start rebuilding. Who knows -- depends on how the mood takes me. I had tons of fun building it once, I'm sure I'll have tons of fun rebuilding it again! That is half the fun after all -- the hunt. The score. The jealous PMs intoning epithets at my crummy luck when I brag about how cheaply I got it. So first, let's cover the bases here. Things are a bit different this time so please do read so things are clear as an election campaign. [1] All prices are in US funds. [2] I'm in Canada. Shipping abroad may take a little longer than you are accustomed to. Please be patient. [3] I would prefer to ship only within the US and Canada, but will consider shipping outside North America -- be warned that shipping costs may be high on larger orders. PM me with your location and desired item(s) if you would like a shipping quote. [4] Payment by PayPal only, please, except Canadians, who can also pay by Interac E-Mail Money Transfer if they prefer. Trades may also be considered. [5] There are a lot of games here. A lot of games. The time and space it would take to take pictures of absolutely everything inside and out would be a career for the next several weeks. As such, most of the pictures I've taken are pretty cursory shots. Plase consider what you see as a general idea of what's there and a bit of what condition it's in. If you are concerned about the condition of something, please PM me and I'll see if I can get you specific shots of whatever it is you're after. Otherwise, assume that all loose games are somewhere around average. Being that this is my personal collect I've tried to collect the nicest label possible so most of the stuff here is probably in better-than-average condition. For boxed games, many are nice, some are average, some are ripped, crushed or bent. Again, if it is a concern, PM me and I'll do what I can to clear up any questions. [6] Numbers in curly braces indicate the quantity available; if there is no number in curly braces, there's only one. [7] First come, first served, in order to be fair. This will be cross-posted on two other forums. [8] If I don't answer your PMs right away it's because I've been flooded with a mess of them and I need to sort out who sent what when and what they wanted. I will get back to you with a list of what is available from your list of requests. [9] Because this is such a huge honkin' sale and will likely have a commensurate number of people buying things from me, it may take a little longer to process everything -- find suitable boxes or envelopes, package everything up, take it over to the post office and ship it. Please be patient -- I will pack and ship as I am able and would generally prefer to take them over in decently-sized batches to make things more convenient. [10] I strongly prefer shipping within the continental USA and Canada! This is nothing against you fine folks out yon further way (Ooh! Pretentious erudition!) but I would not like to take any more chances with foriegn mail carriers and customs departments manhandling and potentially losing stuff. I don't mind for small orders but if you're outside North America and you want more than, say, $50 worth of stuff, I will only ship by a trackable method. This is unbelievably expensive I'm afraid (blame Canada -- Post, that is) so if you really want a whole bunch of stuff be prepared for sticker shock on the shipping price. Small orders (like a few carts) actually isn't that bad; it's the big heavy orders that start demanding limbs, vital organs and unborn progeny as payment. [11] Canada Post has raised their prices! As of January 15th Canada Post's rates have gone up. Not by much mind you, but given that their rates tend to be exorbitant to begin with their rate hikes are always a reason to work harder at finding a way to resurrect Guy Fawkes. [12] Prices are moderately negotiable within reason, but please -- no lowballing or threadcrapping. If something seems unreasonably priced then please make an offer. [13] Please only PM if you are serious about buying! No offense to the speculators, but as I expect a high volume of response across at least two different forums, I'd really like to deal only with those who are pretty sure they actually want stuff. If you want stuff put aside for a few days while you wait for payday or something then no problem, just let me know. If I don't hear from you about whether you actually want the stuff or make payment arrangements within 3 days I will remove the hold and make them available again. Sit back. Get comfortable. Real comfortable. Bring some chips, dip and a cold beer. Make it three. Don't make any plans. You and me, we're going to be here a spell. Ready? Excellent. Now. Who wants some Wang? 7. Yeah, he already PMed me about that and a couple of others. Thanks for the heads up though. no 7800 Rampage unfortunately -- but I have a 2600 Rampage that will work on a 7800!
  8. Just taking a break for a bit. I've got my small collection of favourites that I won't sell set aside, so I'm not getting out of it entirely -- and I certainly wouldn't pass up a good deal if I happened across one. And I still want to get some homebrews.
  9. I was waiting for that one. No, sorry, no minty CIB Malagai. It's in the shop 'cos my dog ate it.
  10. You backing out on McDonald's? Dude, now who's the tease?
  11. For anyone who's read this thread, you'll know I've been considering purging the majority of my collection. Well, I've considered it and I'm going to go ahead with it. I've set aside my core favourite selection of 50 or so games. The rest of it is going up for sale. Right here. Tomorrow. I've spent the last two and a half hours taking pictures of everything (and these are just quick setup shoots -- few good detail shots; there's just not enough time or space to do that), I've got to spend about an hour resizing, fixing my bad overexposures, stitching, etc., then another few hours writing up the list. Fun. So I'm writing this to give everyone a little warning before I post in case there are those who would like to prepare their wallets, bank accounts, credit cards or loan sharks for it. I would like to make one thing clear however: I am very strongly preferring North American shipments. If someone from outside North America really wants one or more carts in the list that costs more than, say, $50, I will only ship by a trackable method -- and that's going to be shockingly expensive to the point of being prohibitive to any but those who are salivating at the mouth for the stuff. I don't do this out of any prejudice, but rather I am not taking any more chances on foriegn mail carriers and customs agencies mucking about with and possibly even losing things. Okay. Now that that's out of the way, I'll leave you to your devices.
  12. Growing up? No, no, it's just the inverval between childhoods. See, that's sort of what surprised me a little. Perhaps it was the excitement and anticipation of being able to get a few things I've been dying to get over the last while, and perhaps it's the relief that I can sort of hold off on any serious Atari collecting for a while (which, being that the vast majority of it is through eBay accounts for a lot of saved frustration ). PRobably a combination of both. All the same I don't think I will miss the items themselves too terribly. They are all replaceable, and at some point I'm sure I will get back into it and indeed replace them. I mean Atari fits just fine in my life; as I said I plan to keep a core collection of good stuff -- this is not a complete purging, just a significant rolling back with an eye to putting the money to better use at the moment. I am not financially hard up; if anything I'm pretty stable if quite average. Collecting doesn't really get in the way of my lifestyle except insofar as I would tend to collect instead of buying other things I also wanted, if not quite as much. It's not even that I have any sort of significant shift in my priorities; I'm quite sure the priorities are more or less the same, it's just that I think what I would get more enjoyment out of at this particular point in time is those things I've put off to buy Atari stuff for. It's just one of those things I need to get out of my system. A sort of materialistic catharsis if you prefer. I'm sure that once I've at least gone through that part I'll probably be ready at some point afterwards to perhaps rebuild the collection. I'll likely be a little more picky about what I buy though; as much as I am habitually a collector, I am emotionally a gamer, and I think that's what I sort of have to try and focus on when that time comes.
  13. Oh, it's not that I'm frustrated at all the deep pockets, and though I regard the career resellers (defined as those who buy and sell solely for profit, not for love of the hobby) as bottom-feeders they don't factor into my possible decision. The fact is I feel like I just might want to do this. It's not even that it doesn't fit in my life right now -- I am hard pressed to think of a situation not involving the desperate need for money where it wouldn't. It's really just that while I love playing some of the games, a lot of the fun of collecting has gone out of it. Aside from a few new (and most excellent) homebrews, I've obtained maybe two or three new games that I didn't already have in as many months, and it's still slowing. While I would love to strive for those few handfuls of carts that I'm missing to complete various sets just so say that I did, the thrills would be few and fleeting and likely at great sacrifice to my wallet. When the same thrills I got winning a lot of 20 commons for $5 costs me $100 for a single cart it starts getting a little stale, and while I'd have no trouble paying that $100 for a single cart and feeling no regret, I sometimes wish it was another lot of 20 for $5. I know my wallet does. In any event, my collecting has often been at the expense of other things in my life put off for what at the time was the greater desire. Now the coin has flipped and what I have put off has begun to nag. Couple it with the waning enjoyment of the scarce few scores I still make in the hunt and it becomes a little clearer: I sell of what I have and it ends up being its own long-term win-win. I get to pull all that long-suffering back-burner stuff to the fore by selling off most of my collection, and then later I get to rebuild my collection and have the thrill of the hunt all over again. What's that old saw? It's not the destination, it's the journey.
  14. I'm sure most people probably come to a point where they take stock and realize that things are a bit stale and, perhaps only right at that moment, there are other things that have edged up on the priority list. Combine the two and you start thinking, "Hey, y'know, I could maybe sell this stuff and clear out some of those suddenly higher priority stuff, and maybe get back to it later on." Well, I'm sorta standing on the brink of that. Life creeps in, there are things you start looking at and realizing that there are things you've been wanting/needing to get over the course of the last year or two and you've continuously put them off because other things -- Atari collecting, say -- have gotten in the way of that. Not that I don't enjoy collecting Atari of course, but I've reached a point where what I need to fulfill certain goals is either prohibitively expensive and/or extremely hard to get, and scores are few and far between and I'm not in that position to really afford those remaining few things. And I like the thrill of the chase. The rush of the win. The feel of getting good deals or fun games. I miss it. So here's what I'm thinking of doing. I'll keep a small, core set of the games I really like, plus the stuff I know I'll probably never get again or just don't want to part with (the homebrews/repros for example) and sell off the rest. Given an approximate remainder of the stuff after I've set aside my favourites, we'd be talking about 700-800 carts, of which about 130+ would be either boxed, complete-boxed or sealed, plus some nice rares and stuff. I've attached my current list-o-stuff to this post as a zipped Excel spreadsheet. (Ignore the other Atari platforms in the additional sheets in here; they're irrelevant) Anyone care to spec out what everything would be worth, leaving out the homebrews, repros, and let's say a generous 50 commons-to-scarces? And who'd be interested if I went ahead and just sold it? Feel free to make offers on lots, singles, the whole ball of wax, whatever. I'll give it all due consideration before making my final choice. 15. I gotta have a word with Angel about posting things I want.
  16. If that's the case, then the VCD player must have been a cheap way to serve up self-looping ads, presumably some sort of McDonald's/Nintendo promo thing.
  17. I know it ain't real, but I think it deserves a page on When MAME Cabinets Go Bad.
  18. Looks like an officially licensed product. Kind of an odd duck though -- a 9" TV with a VCD player? That's just bizarre. Looks like it takes a standard keyed two-prong cord though -- the kind you see on small home electronics.
  19. I've seen that quite a lot. In fact I was shopping for an item a few weeks back and happened across a seller who had one at a pretty good price. A very good price, in fact. He had 100% of 30 feedbacks, but the too-good-to-be-true-ness of the auction was already popping up red flags, so I checked his feedback. Purchased. Every one of the 30, feedback from sellers selling "eBooks." Red flags turned to screaming sirens and I left the auction, pitying whoever eventually did win whatever he probably didn't really have to sell.
  20. *Covers crotch. Backs slowly away.*
