What's your favorite version of BASIC?
JamesD replied to bluejay's topic in Classic Computing Discussion
non-extended BASIC doesn't have EDIT, perhaps you upgraded it? -
Most vintage has to be white. Green came later, and would be second, though my first monitor was amber.

I reposted it and you still didn't read it. It didn't even say "Ubisoft forward" 🙄 Oh well.

What's your favorite version of BASIC?

Extended Color BASIC on the Tandy CoCo. GW BASIC on the PC is almost identical. -
You mean the link that says "https://www.pcgamer.com/watch-dogs-2-will-be-free-to-own-during-ubisofts-upcoming-digital-showcase/" ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

What other software genres were you into besides games?
JamesD replied to Keatah's topic in Classic Computing Discussion
My computer was a CoCo, and I only owned 6 games other than type ins. Programming was my main interest, but I had Graphicom (a graphics editor), a word processor (VIP Writer), and the Macro 80c Editor Assembler package from MICRO WORKS. VIP writer got me through college until I got an Amiga. I got a free copy of Word Perfect for that at Comdex, bought SAS C, and had a glut of software for that machine. -
How Can I "Unset" a String Variable in Atari BASIC
JamesD replied to pixelmischief's topic in Atari 5200 / 8-bit Programming
IDK about Atari BASIC, but on Microsoft BASIC, you could reserve a specified amount of memory, and you could use PEEK and POKE to access data in that memory. This was used on the TRS-80 for a dungeon crawler so it could go between the town (tavern?), and exploration modules... Temple of Apshai maybe? -

They pushed back Ark Survival Evolved freebie due to human malware pushing back some event related to that game.

I'm trying to come up with something useful that requires local variables, but it will probably be just a useless example.
-
Do you want an example?

You increment the index before the subroutine calls itself, and decrement before return
-
Even though BASIC doesn't have local variables, you can simulate them in arrays. <hint, hint>
