I love the second. The third is silly, but has some cool scenes I loved that almost make up for it. The fourth is silly and doesn't have cool scenes I like.

The third (and fourth for that matter) were actually well written from a plot standpoint. They just weren't executed properly.

I remember being so pumped for Superman IV before it was released. The plot looked fantastic in theory. But in practice ... wow did it not work for me. Boring, hokey, special effects that were a big step backward, Superman a wuss. III was a bit redeemed for me because of the Clark-Superman brawl and things like freezing the lake. IV didn't have that even.
