I don't get it. I use the phrase "fame whore" all the time, nobody bats an eye, but the *one time* it referred to a woman, I'm called a misogynist. Someone calls a bus driver a "killer" because the bus ran over a cyclist, and I said I wouldn't go THAT far as it's been widely reported the cyclist ran a red light, and I'm chastised for being insensitive yet others after me who repeated this fact don't get shit.
