After trying to finish playing Goldeneye for the N64, and giving up on it, I wasn't interested in the possible "more of the same" from Mission: Impossible.
At least Goldeye's Graphics are half way decent considering we are talking N64. Mission Impossible was hard to even look at.
They were both made in the same year. I guess some programmers are just better than others.
At least for me.
At anyrate, I am sure there are people out there that love Mission Impossible and hate Golden Eye.

games.
I am looking for commons.
Xbox
PS2
and
Gamecube games
Like I said. Please no sports games unless you are willing to part with them Dirt Cheap. They will be the last things on my list.
Also, I am probably beating my head against a wall with this request but, any cheap Commodore 64/128 Carts out there?
For two computers people have trouble giving away the cartridges prices are just plain out of whack.
Please no large lots. I will be buying over an extended period of time.
PM me with prices and include S&H to zip 76401 in your figures.

I passed up on a pair of NES Joystick controllers. Not sure if that was such a good idea. But, I have no games that use joysticks right now. The lady selling them is a regular. With any luck she might be out there in 2 weeks and I can pick them up anyway.
How can you not have an NES game that uses joysticks?
I just assumed that the joysticks were only for games like Top Gun and other games of that type.
I do have Gyruss and Xevious. Perhaps the joystick would work with those.
Unless they work with any game.

Since I was berated for putting my N64 comments in the modern gaming thread, I decided to put this one here.

At any rate, I was at the flee market this weekend and boy was there almost nothing out there. Terrible terrible.

Well, I was walking passed this one outside vendor who had mostly houseware stuff out of the corner of my eye I say an N64 memory cartridge and a game. The game was Mission Impossible.
I asked here how much for both. I can always use another memory card. She said 4 bucks. I figured what the heck. I would have all of 14 N64 games with that one.
Well, I brought it to the shop and decided to play it today.
All I can saw is ewwwwwwwww.
Oh well. At least it only set me back 2 bucks. It could have been worse.
-
Well,
I didn't get to check out my 2600 to see if the controller worked. The person at the other shop had taken it home.
Oh well.

One of those silly problems that keeps the game from being enjoyable.
On one of the early levels I am running into a problem.
It the room where you have to push a button then run to the other side of the room to snag a key. I can never run there fast enough. I have to turn around and the always seems to take forever. I get 3/4 of the way and the pilar raises up.
I must have tried it several dozen times. No luck.
Anyone have any suggestions??????

Sounds like you've got a Cobra Gun there. It's a decent gun in its own right, but the Stunner is better. I don't think much of the GunCon, but its a necessary evil.
Your Cobra Gun should fill in nicely where the GunCon 1 and 2 leave off. I'd get a Stunner or a Virtua Gun for those two player Saturn shooters, and use the Cobra Gun wherever it is needed (friends come over, Rebel Assault II, etc).
I used to own a Cobra Gun myself, and I was happier with that than I was my GunCon.
Actually it's a Jolt Gun made by Innovation.
It does clearly state it will work with Time Crisis. I am assuming they mean the Time Crisis for the Playstation. Whether it will work for PS2 games is still up in the air.

Your monitor is your enemy?
Ok, be nitpicky. My computer is actaully to the left of my desk on the floor.

Actually my 19 inch wants to be my enemy. It has made a whining noise for the last 4 years. I have had it about 7 years. I keep expecting it to give out any day now. It has tortured me with the possibility for 4 years.

Ok, I didn't know where to put this so I placed it here.
I just wanted to give everyone a heads up not to use Windows
What a bunch of bonehead those darn programmers are.
Just thought I would let everyone know.
Don't trust Windows

Fixed it for you.
Ha Ha.
I would have thought not trusting Microsoft was a given. Remember keep your friends close and your enemy closer. My enemy happens to be sitting on my computer desk. Can't get much closer than that.

I just wanted to give everyone a heads up not to use Windows Game Advisor to check out whether their system will run a game they are considering buying.
I was checking out some games on a system I will be selling. I am upgrading for the person because his old 500 MHZ way to old for the games he had bought.
I checked the system requirements for the games in question. They both required GeForce 2 or ATI Radeon 32 Meg Graphics cards.
Well the particular system I am selling them has onboard Intel Graphics. I pretty much knew what that meant.
On a whim I decided to use Windows Game Advisor to see if it would be able to properly analyze the system and give me a no go on both games.
Guess what? You got it. It said both games would run.
What a bunch of bonehead those darn programmers are.
I am better off just reading the System Requirements.
Just thought I would let everyone know.
Don't trust Windows Game Advisor.

I had a question about Light Gun games for the PS1/PS2.
I bought a light gun for my Sega Saturn so I could play Virtrua Cop.
It works decently.
Well this gun also has a second connection that will let you use it on a PS system.
Can anyone tell me of some good titles that use the Light Gun for PS1/PS2s?
I am hoping that there isn't the same issue like PS2 games not working with PS1 controllers with the Light Gun.
I have actually only run into on racing game that didn't like my PS1 controller that had thumsticks.
However, PS2 games really really don't like the nonthumbstick PS1 controllers. Nothing seems to work with that.

I noticed some of the games were from countries other than the US. Were there any issues playing games from other contries like consoles sometimes have?
Commodore 64s don't have intentional region coding like modern consoles do. However, because of the differences between the PAL and NTSC television standards, and the changes Commodore made to accomodate those standards, software intended for Commodore 64s released in PAL land (Europe, most of Asia, etc.) is often flaky when run on Commodore 64s released in NTSC land (North America, Japan, most of South America, etc.), and vice versa. Graphics can glitch, music can sound faster or slower, and so on. Usually it's not a big problem, and most games are still playable. However, anything that makes heavy use of the video hardware, such as graphics and sound demos, may not run at all.
This web page explains the differences. Google can dig up other info if you're still curious.
Thanks for the info. Being as I was only exposed to US N64 games, I doubt it will be much of an issue. But, on the safe side I will always ask before making a purchase.

Well,
Semi good news. I found a person that had an Atari 2600 with a power supply and was able to check out if my system worked or not. Apparently it did. Didn't check it for game play just checked to see if a cartrdige would boot up. It did that much. So did hers.
I will probably be out there over the weekend and if she has hers completely up and running I might see if she will let me test mine for game play.

I would be interested in seeing what all carts are out on C64 too. I only know of Thin Ice, and Congo Bongo, both great games, but I always thought cart games were rather rare, but it appears that there are around 200 or so.
I'd love to know what Thin Ice is, cos I've never heard of it!
(I'm the geezer doing the C64 section for Digital Press you see)
That's pretty much THE place for a proper list, though you'll want to see the 100 odd foreign releases too...

If you want pictures of stuff and whatever, then you need to check out my site (so hit the link below!).
If someone hasn't already done so, thanks for you time and effort in making the Commodore Cartridge list. It's a good effort.

Some of these abbreivation are lost with me.
CGA PC ????
SMS????
Oh, and yeah. I meant Impossible Mission II for NES not Impossible Mission. My friend had both for the C64.
CGA - Color Graphics Adapter (4 colors and a few different pallet combos)
PC - Personal Computer (aka. IBM's)
SMS - Sega Master System
Tempest
Ah. Ok. For some reason I had a brain freeze when I saw CGA and PC together. PC I should have figured. The same for CGA too.
SMS. The abbreviation was lost on me. But, then again, i didn't know about the SMS until just a few days ago. Just knew about the Genesis, CD, Saturn, and Dreamcast.
-
Well,
It sure beats what I had before I know about DPs SNES list. Absolutely nothing. LOL
Thanks for the head ups.

Oh, I wasn't planning on restricting myself to cartridges only. Although, as I said, I do plan on selling it sometime.
I just remember the days of my friends 64. The cartridges are a much more reliable medium.
Back then it was almost manditory that you made back up disks of the games you bought to make sure when the failed you could still play.
5 1/4" floppies were the pits.
At any rate. Depending on how the NES version of Impossible Mission works and looks, I may still have to get the C64 version anyway. That was on of my favorite C64 games.

I wonder wonder if there price guide for SNES games online somewhere.
I found the 3 year old one for NES cartridges. I don't suppose there an updated version of that, is there?
-
As some of you all know, I picked up a commodore 128 system a few weeks back.
I was gonna try to sell it. But, I thought I might have a little fun with it for a while before I found it a good home.
Anyway. I was wondering if there was a list out there of Commodore 64/128 game cartridges.
Or heck. If anyone had any for sale I might consider those too.

No Direct X? hmmmmm. I have a IBM Laptop with a 500 mhz that supports direct X with it's onboard. Don't think it will support the latest direct X though.
At any rate a 500MHZ systems can still run some half way decent games.
You are just gonna have to hunt for them. Flea markets are usually a good place to find some older games.

Does $12 sound like a fair price to get an Atari 2600 Power supply Shipping included.
I got a system as part of a trade but it didn't come with a power supply.
I would hate to spend all that money then find out the system didn't work. Heck I don't even have a game to test it with.
But, I would hate for it to just sit here gathering dust.
I'll trade you one for a SNES power supply.
j/k ... saw your reply to my post.
Check your PM.

Sure,
Take my last and only SNES power supply and leave me with a Atari that has power but no TV hook ups or games. LOL
Got your PM. Had to put the Atari on the back burner for now.
I had to by a PS1 controller for my PS2. The one I had didn't work. It was an old and I mean old PS1 controller. No thumbsticks. I can use it to play DVDS and CDs. But, that is it. Pretty worthless.
I will keep you in mind though.

$7.49 + Shipping
I got a similar one for my NES (it has two wires, one for the NES and one for the SNES) and it works like a charm.
Thanks for the link. I can use that as a last resort, but I'm still holding out for an original.
therealred5,
You have any luck finding the SNES Power Supply yet? The 10 to 15 bucks on ebay is actually starting to sound more appealing to me. Sheesh. I can't believe these are so hard to find.
If you catch a good price, let me know.
Thanks

A procedure for disabling the lockout chip is on Ben Heckendorn's website. Ben's a console modder, and has a good sense of humor reflected through his website.
Head over to benheck.com and look around--you should be able to find the procedure easily. It takes about an hour to perform--90 minutes if you are re bending your 72 pin connector.
Rebending your pins. That was the word I was thinking of instead of lifting the pins. That sounds better.
Honestly guys. You all act like replacing the 72 Pin Connector is rocket science. It isn't that hard.
Not really fun. But, not all that hard.

An N64 Game I wish I had not bought.

For me it's seem, I need a balance between combat and tactics. This is the big reason I enjoyed Deus Ex so much. If I wanted to shoot everthing in site I could. Or I could sneak around and play the game in a no kill strategy mode. Well, almost no kill.
I get bored quickly with games like Doom and Quake because they are pretty much shooting fests. Although, I still find ways to bring some strategy into the game.
A couple of days ago I downloaded a demo for James Bond: Nightfire for PC. It reminded how much I prefer using a keyboard and mouse over a controller. I just have always felt more comfortable using a keyboard and mouse. I suppose I always will.
At any rate I found myself more engaged playing that game as opposed to Doom 3.
Mission Impossible just doesn't have enough action. Just like Doom 64 doesn't have enough strategy.
But, I still enjoy games like Winback and Goldeneye. So, my N64 isn't going anywhere.
Now if I could just find someone interested in my 2nd N64.
