  3. Should I see about replacing that DRAM then? I'm about to modify my console for A/V and since it's supposedly a pain in the ass to get open I should fix things while it's open Where could i get a replacement for the DRAM?
  4. Weird, the games I tried did not show a startup screen, there was just a blank screen with a delay before the game would boot.
  5. Well if your talking about the Jag.. I would have to say Bubsy.. I don't think alot of people have seen past level one in that game lol Dr.Clu is the resident expert on the game.
  6. nope, the Genesis 2 A/V is proprietary or a kind of DIN rarely used.. it's that damn "shelf" of metal that runs along the bottom part of the DIN that makes using anything else difficult
  7. Just got a Colecovision I won on Ebay, it runs but it has vertical lines running through the couple games I tried, tried cleaning the games didn't fix the problem. I read somewhere that the power supply is finicky and could be causing this, anybody know anything about this? Thanks.
  8. Yeah, the cartridge version will come out after the CD release (probably a month or so later). The cartridge numbers might be limited by the number of donor carts available. taking any preorders?? Pre-orders on the CD or Cartridge version? Like CDoty said earlier, the cartridge version may be limited. We may release it as Limited Edition. It just depends on how many donor carts we can get. Right now I have about 25 carts available for the development. I will keep 2 Frog Feast carts for us. I'll talk to CDoty and see how we can make a special edition for the cartridge version. We MIGHT take pre-orders on the cartridge version as the progress continues, but as of right now, no. We will let you know how things are going throughout the whole process. Yeah I was referring to the cart... nice sig lol.. I loved the Commadore computer have a 128 that I mess with every now and then

  10. Yes, Carl at Songbird was messing around with the source code too, and he said the same thing basically; there were major glitches when he enabled the music, but if he traded off the sound effects for music it worked well, IIRC. It's all about it being another Jaguar rush-job, that's all...still, it's mighty impressive for a rush job that didn't take much advantage of the Jaguar Risc chips, using mostly the system-crippling 68000 and was written/ported with terrible tools in a varient of C. With all of that against it, it's saying something for Carmack and team's programming skills (and the Jaguar itself) that it turned out as good as it did! let us not forget how JagDOOM has a very unique lighting system compared to the other ports, I think thats another point to add to how incredible a rush job it was lol.. I did mention that, just look at my first reply, right after the first topic post! whoops, my bad I forgot
  11. Speaking of Raycasters... a new one would be an interesting idea for a homebrew project but a CD version would be the way to go. I'm not sure how the system handles CDA over MOD when it comes to the 3D raycasting math being used, but it would allow for more maps, more enemy sprites, and CD music tracks. Of all my favorite Raycasted FPS games, Disruptor was one of my favorites mainly because the sound designer was a genius because of the way it changed depending on the situation. A game like that on the Jag would have my full support lol.. if I ever get the handle of programming (looks bleek ) I'd have that on my to do list.

  13. don't forget the sound.. it makes the music crackle and the sounds muffled (or maybe thats just for me since it's very homebrew unfriendly for me..)
  14. Graphically the Jag version is the best one, but sound wise I'd have to go with the 3DO version since it had the luxery of CD audio and more space for sfx, both of them are steller ports in comparison to the PC Wolf 3D because they basically redrew everything to a higher resolution and run at lightening speed. Color too...dont forget the color too! I think it makes a world of difference from the PC as far as looks go. I'd love to see the game redone with even higher res and color but still using the same engine...yep the ray caster. Keep that classic engine feel. I wouldn't mine them giving Wolf 3D the Doom 360 treatment, DOOM on XBLA looks incredible in high resolution even though it's quite dated by todays standards. Have not seen many 360 titles, including that one. http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/d/doomxbox...ade/default.htm <-- screenshots, it looks pretty good in HD Yeah that's what I mean but you can see those are the old graphics simply upconverted. I want real snapshots of actual actors for the sprites. Real wall snap shots for the wall bmps. That would be delish...in Wolf have some guy dress up in nazi soldier or SS clothing and take some really nice shots...take one far away, midrange, and in between so you can mip map and keep the jaggies tastefully down to bare minimum. AvP On Jag is must closer to what i mean by more photo quality looking if that were 1024 x 768 it would be yummy. That would be cool but the industry has all but ditched digitized graphics :/ With the Wolf source code available it wouldn't be that hard for somebody to make though. Though there is a new Wolf game in the works, which would probly mean normal mapping which IMHO gives wall textures alot more realism Normal Mapping made Oblivion look incredible.
  15. 2 Jaguars (1 dead from a botched BJL ) 2 standard controllers Games: Cannon Fodder Checkered Flag (got it loose for 3 bucks just like it should be sold! lol ) Cybermorph (I think it's the 1 meg, it was boxed) Defender 2000 DOOM Dragon Dragon's Lair (too bad I don't have a CD unit...) Evolution Dino Dudes Fight For Life Flashback Hoverstrike Iron Soldier Kasumi Ninja Power Drive Rally Protector SE Super Burnout Syndicate Towers II Ultra Vortek Val D'Ishrah Skiing and Snowboarding Wolfenstein 3D x2 Zool 2 Whats my next? Look at my sig, thats what I want currently
  16. Dude, color wise the 32X has nothing on the Jag lol . I think the closest to the full color the Jag could do the 32X got was with Kolabri (which is a beautiful looking game.. unfortunately it didn't play as well ) Kolabri looks the part, but it's due to the artist, not the technology. Blow the graphics up a little, and it's still using Genesis coloring tricks. Regardless of the dithering, it uses more colors then most of the 32X games out there... Yes but you wont see that on the jag unless it's on purpose(dont ask me why that would be though. ) You'd have to be a fool to wanna use 256 colors with 24-bit at your disposal so Jag wins

All the Backgrounds from Knuckles Chaotix were done by the genesis for example.

  21. It was thought of and talked about many times over the years, starting WAAY back when the Jaguar was first released. Just do a search here about it and you'll probably uncover some of the old threads...still, it would be a cool thing if someone ever did it, but your talking about a MAJOR hardware project. wouldn't neccessarily have to be all hardware based, software based emulation (while not always accurate) would be a better way of doing timewise and cost wise. But who really has the time to plan out such a thing?
  22. As I said before the main problem of the Virtual Boy was it was too far ahead for its time. Peopel weren't ready for it. It was a bit like the Jaguar XJS being too much of a concept at time of release and only thirty years on people are looking at it and thinking wow, what an idea All the Virtual Boy needed was maybe only a dozen more colors than just red and black. That's it! Maybe even only a few more colors would have done the trick... I think they should have done medical tests with it too... alot of people heard rumors of it damaging your eyes or givng you migraines which then turned them off of the system.
  23. maybe their lying. If I had an increadibly rare proto I'd make sure people knew I really had it for gloating purposes <.< hah hah. Still.. it's a wonder why nothing has surfaced about it other then word of mouth.. it's a shame really.
  24. In your very own little, bizarre world. Why are you insulting him? He's giving you his professional opinion. Disagree with him, but why insult him? Plese post a video on youtube showing a game before HALO that shows evidence of superior A.I. to BattleSphere. I don't doubt Steve believes what he's saying but the way he and Thunderbird go about things gets me irritated.. just now on JSII their basically saying that Wing Commander Arena is ripping off of Battlesphere.. I know Doug did some incredible things with Battlesphere but why must they think themselves "Gods"? It's good to be humbled sometimes but an inflated ego just makes you look like an ass, especially for a genre of games that will and has been ripping off of each other for years.. theres only so many ways you can do space battle and the representation of war in space.. I mean no disrespect but c'mon guys.. Very well said Emo. "Inflated ego" is just spot on. They have explained themselves to me, I can see I was a bit rash in my statements.
  25. Your statement has no backing, where do you get off saying that Western Programmers don't know how to program? Japanese games have stagnated much like western games.. theres more cliche's in Japanese games then here in West currently.
