  1. Well the Saturn was also a bitch to program
  2. don't you mean UMK3? I remember the coverage for that, was gonna be on the 3DO but then they started talks about putting it on the M2 (which most likely got it cancelled when Mitsushita bought the technology and wasted it )

    ZOOP!

theres a free flash version of the game if you wanna give it a try, I do not remember the link though.
  4. Now lets get serious, do we need a slew of more VS topics? I think not Give it a rest guys
  5. You mean the black stuff ? It's graphite. You can buy it in liquid form (to apply with a brush), but it's rather expensive. Thats what I thought it was but I wasn't sure. Exactly how expensive?
  6. its all fun debate....seriously, both claim 64bit and both are the last of the cartridge era....we all know the n64 has the advantage. but we've also compared 16bit systems to the jag. :-) Well if you want to hear the same technical jargon over and over and over and over again be my guest lol.. I think Gorf has to stop sometime, I'm sure he's tired of retyping it all.
  7. Are you insane???? I think we have enough argument encrusted forums
  8. Everybody seems to overlook the fact that no port of a Neogeo game has ever been as good as it was on the NeoGeo (with loss of animation, frame rate drop and other things) until recently, I don't care if the specs don't match, what the developers did with it was amazing. Let us not forget hardware is only as good as the software made for it. This arguement is pointless.
  9. Does anyone know what the conductive part is composed of?
  10. Yeah, thats definately an Xbox controller, the price isn't bad though but it's missing the breakaway. I remember the game that came with being over $100 retail
  11. How come nobody has mentioned the original Medal of Honor for the PSX? The AI in that game was really good for it's time, the enemies reacted to you in different ways depending on the situation, throw a grenade and the enemie reacts in a number of ways, runs for cover, picks it up and throws it back or jumps on to save his comrades. That isn't just some unintelligent pattern.
  12. Gorf - since you're a programmer, let me give you a test where you can quantify the results in numbers. Combine the total amount of animation frames per object/character in Metal Slug 3 - now find a non FMV, hand drawn, non-rotoscoped Jag game that comes close with full body character sprites. Still not convinced? The artists were good enough that there are fan clubs to their characters, with members who don't even like fighting games, and they still are appearing in new games a decade later. Find me an Atari character who can say the same? The quality of animation on most of them is why the system was still viable on the market for 12+ years... don't even get me started with SVC: Chaos and Samurai Shodown V/Zero
  13. the CD-32 didn't have the RAM for it, thats why. Hence why Amiga Quake does not work on the CD-32.
  14. Don't know if this qualifies for this section of the forum but does anybody know if any companies manufacture and sell those rubber pads that are used for game pads? You know the part that when pressed closes the circuit? Thanks in advance.
  15. Short answer: Infinity. Long answer: Under what conditions? I doubt Infinity, if it were vectors maybe but not with polygon and sprites on screen. But to mention conditions.. say with a dynamic polygonal landscape and on screen sprites or polygonal models in motion. From what I've seen it varies by the engine (Total Eclipse 3DO has a draw distance much like Cybermorph but then you have Need For Speed with a much farther draw distance) so I'm curious from a hardware standpoint how far it can go with a decent workload.
  16. Thats harsh man, I bought a big lot of diodes from a guy on Ebay who deals with electronics.. he sent them in a bubblelope not in a static-free bag. But I hate people who either don't know how to package or pack things so shitty to save money (and pocket the difference) or spite their buyers.
  17. What I'm curious about concerning these 2 systems is what is the largest possible draw distance capable on both systems? Seeing Need for Speed on the 3DO I was blown away by how minescule the pop-up was, I saw it here an there occasionally but it was barely noticeable. The Jag had a shorter draw distance in most of it's 3D games but say we scrapped the 68k and used the GPU how far could the draw distance on a 3D Jag game go?
  18. The EEPROM either died or it's hit 100,000 writes (have you tried wiping the memory? Hold *+#+Option on start up, see if that refreshes the memory) HEY! THANKS!! I tried that *+#+option method and that got it saving again!!! Thank you sooo much! I almost had a heart attack there. Well thanks so much for that info and help. Why do jag games reset the memory after 100,000 writes? That cant be good for someone who gets games in the future and such. Especially games that take many saves and all that. I'm actually surprised somebody saved on that game 100,000 times It's quite a large amount of saves for anybody

  20. What do you expect? Their parent company seemed to love the Smurfs license back in the day Infogrames had no business putting the Atari name on their garbage to begin with
  21. What they did is called "humbling yourself" and it's a healthy thing, plus it shows they have a sense of humor.
  22. I cleaned it pretty throughly, still didn't work, so I returned it. Not much else I can do now hah. Was just surprised to buy a bad Jag game, even the RSOD means the game COULD still work, but a black screen? Didn't wanna take the chance and get stuck with an interesting coaster. Well. since you returned it, it doesn't matter much now, and I'm not even sure if this is possible with the PCB of a Jaguar cartridge, but I had a 2600 cartridge once that didn't work, even after a thorough cleaning, and so I decided to take it apart to see if there were any cold solder joints, etc. It turned out that someone had previously taken it apart, someone who shouldn't have becuase they obviously didn't have a clue; the PCB had been re-inserted UPSIDE DOWN. I re-installed it right side up and the cartridge worked fine. I don't suppose that Rayman cart's label didn't look perfect or the screws were exposed were they? You have to either peel up the label or punch holes in the label to do that, the cart was loose though so it could have been dropped or taken some kind of trauma, but didn't look tampered with. Oh well.
  23. Huh.. I didn't realize the pause loop was the problem, thanks, it's displaying the next screen finally Still having issues though, my code is a huge mess x.X
