  1. Thanks again for the Great deal Carl, glad I could finally get a copy of Towers II
  2. DC current isn't very dangerous, AC is because of what it does to your muscles. I work in a theatre and it's all DC, you grab a live exposed electric and you'll go flying but it won't kill you. AC on the other hand doesn't throw you, it holds you (meaning your muscles spasm not allowing you to let go) while the amps course through your body doing the real damage. I'd rather be safe then sorry since I've never taken a GG apart before
  3. He wants 600 for both the N64 zeldas?? like thats every gonna sell, most of his auctions are like inflated 400% rediculous
  4. Wearing it sounds like a bad idea, the slightest jolt can damage the shutters, thats kinda why they made the system a tabletop so you didn't move it much.
  5. I know this is off topic but did Airworld ever get released? I thought I saw something about it awhile back.. unless I'm mistaken.
  6. THAT IS NOT A TOY THAT RUNS ON AA BATTERIES. THAT IS THE VOLTAGE DOUBLER CAP. IT IS EXACTLY THE WRONG THING TO TOUCH. IT WILL FRY YOUR ARM IF YOU TOUCH IT. DANGER DANGER BAD HURT ZAP. (sorry, but I couldn't resist! and yes, it's true!) I removed it with no problems thank god But yeah, I wasn't sure if it was capable of shocking me so I thought I'd find out Doesn't look like it'd be hard at all to replace the whole backlight assembly for some White LED's but this gear was busted so their was no point in experimenting.
  7. Where do you get that crap from? Religion was "invented" to explain things in nature that people couldn't explain before science showed how it really worked.. (ex: they didn't know what lightning and thunder was so they associate it with a higher being and worship that being, spirit or god as a way to "control" or explain why it's happening). It's been around since culture has existed, not since the Egyptians. Anyways... Religion is a personal thing.. it shouldn't be rubbed in peoples faces and tracts are doing just that. I know I wouldnt want someone telling me I'm wrong and I'm eternally damned unless I believe what they do.
  8. :!: Just because something uses batteries doesn't mean it's electrically safe :!: Actually, there IS a high-voltage generator in the Game Gear used to power the backlight (as shadow460 explained well in this post). I doubt the charge would be large enough to seriously harm you, but as a matter of precaution, only work on it with the power removed. Discharging the larger electrolytic capacitors with a screwdriver before touching the board is a good idea too. Ah, well I just got this unit and I'm assuming it hasn't been powered for a while. But thanks for telling me about that.
  9. Ok, thanks. I was never certain if the warnings of high voltage on these things was real or just a ruse to keep people from taking them apart.
  10. I just got a broken Game Gear which I'm going to take apart for parts, are their any parts I should be careful of? I've heard that some capaciters can hold a substantial charge (some lethal like in Televisions) If so how would I safely discharge it? Thanks in advance.
  11. MS Paint is a powerful tool. Since you work in a limited environment and have to do effects like dithering and shading by hand there's alot of different stylistic things each person will do to get the best results. I like working with cels for the same reason, having to do as much work manually as possible makes it look the best. Yep, thats why I use it for all my Pixel work, especially for a fighting game I was making sprites for (never got anywhere with it cause I can't program for the life of me lol) I only use PaintShopPro for stuff needing alot of detail.
  12. LMAO are you serious?? I didn't think they would ever take that as a trade in, but yeah.. thats a HUGE markup, why would anybody trade that in?? The Retail was 3.99.. you'd get like 0.50-1.00 if your lucky for it. When I was working at EB back in November I was joking around with my coworker about people trying to trade those in.. it's rediculous.
  13. Oh god lol.. I remember that article..... Whatever happened to the barbarian/warrior Belmonts?? Like in the good ol days.. now look at them. I don't know if the Japanese know that Bishonen doesn't really fly with the male audience.. they do it to please the japanese girls who love effeminate men... I know I'm sick of it. But thats my opinion.
  14. Ok, I'll bite. My favorite games to play on FB2 are Centipede, Missle Command, River Raid and Yar's Revenge. The most recent highest scores (I started jotting them down after I saw this topic thread): Centipede: 83,770 Missle Command: 31,290 (I normally don't pay much attention to the actual score in MC, rather the screen I get to. As long as I get to at least the first green screen, I'm happy.) River Raid: 29,320 (A good way to get a higher score is to blast the fuel barges you don't need, and keep your speed LOW) Yars Revenge: I haven't recorded any of my higher scores on Yar's Revenge yet. To be honest, I never really pay much attention to the score because it only appears between levels. I felt the need to include it here because it's one of my all time favorite games. As long as I get past the two screens where the shield around the Qotile is blue and there is NO neutral zone to hide from the guided missle in, I'm happy. Also I should mention Asteroids here. Although it's not one of my all time favorites I do like to play it because I can just kind of zone out and play. When I play it I try to "flip the cartridge." If any of you remember, that's where you play and play until the score counter resets itself to zero. We used to call that flipping the cartidge back in the day. It's easy to do with Asteroids as long as you keep playing it and don't let your hand cramp up LOL. I flipped the score the first time I got a 7800 to work playing Asteroids The guy that sold it to me had some how gotten a piece of metal jammed in the cartridge slot which bridged the connector, I removed it and it worked. I havn't really done that with any of the games on my Flashback though.
  15. Thats easily fixed, your capacitors in the post amp are dryed up, replace them and it'll play audio like new. Since it might be hard to find 10uv 16v a 10uv 35v should work. Awesome news! I too have been having some issues with this. Do you have a pic that shows which capacitors you're talking about? I have not worked on the audio components at all (don't know what's what). Any help is really appreciated on that one D-Lite of the PCengineFX forum has a very nice guide with pictures http://www.pcenginefx.com/forums/index.php...msg6834#msg6834 It's a pretty easy fix but requires alittle care with soldering, a soldering braid would be adviced for the tight space between the old caps and the board.
  16. Great.. more Bishonen-fied Castlevania.. would they stop making the male characters look so gay? Richter was probly the least feminine looking male character since they re did him in SOTN but thats not saying much...
  17. That'd be great, only if it were made affordable and not in extremely limited numbers.
  18. Maybe not today but back then it was all too common. I think almost any display can suffer from burn in.
  19. More then likely your Gear bit the big one
  20. It's obviously a fake screen because Sonic Blast is a Game Gear game
  21. It wasn't bad at the time it came out, I have one. The screen is just proned to screen burn and blurring, but yeah.. it ate batteries like crazy so I just used car adapters, I don't think I used batteries ONCE when I used it hah hah
  22. Doesn't make sense why Sega would be licensing this kind of product based on the genesis.. their clearly gonna make alot more money selling the games on the Wii VC for 8 bucks a game... The Master System/Game Gear did because the VC wasn't gonna have them.
