  1. It's Sonic; who need to move left anyway? Forward, I say! I wonder if it's a design problem, or just an issue with your unit? My first thought is that it's Majesco's Genesis-on-a-Chip that they originally developed for the Genesis 3. After a bit of research, though, it sounds like you might be right. Technosource has another unit that again only plays GameGear/SMS games. And from the reviews I've seen, it sounds like the graphics are sub-par for even the Master System. Which means that they're probably the GameGear versions. When you think about it, that kind of sucks. Would it have killed Technosource to do a little extra work to update thier design to a full Master System? I mean, the GameGear is 80% of the way there, why not finish it? Maybe I should look for one of these instead: http://gameasylum.us/seplnplptvga.html Of course, I'm not sure if that's actually a legal PnP, which might make it a little hard to find. BTW, for those who are curious, this is what the unit looks like: I just ordered one of those Sonic 20-in 1 PnP's through Targets website for $20 it has a far better game choice then the Handheld version. Theirs a Sonic Chaos/'Spinball version?? I would have preferred that over Blast... That guy needed to do alittle research before writing that review lol.. he thinks it's a Genesis game.. Sonic Blast was first released on the Game Gear then was ported to the Master System. As for a Master System game it wasn't designed with the SMS in mind so it doesn't look on par with other SMS games because it's a GG game. The game was titled Sonic Blast in the US because of Sonic 3D Blast, it had nothing to do with the genesis game and was somewhat the worst Sonic game ever made for the GameGear.. the pre-rendered sprites was a bad idea from the start.
  2. That sounds like a very cool product! (Took 'em long enough.) Let us know how it plays! The D-Pad isn't alligned or the contact for left is cheap because moving left is a chore.. I compared it to a rom of Sonic Blast (though I could only get the Master System port) and they seem identical (albeit a few missing colors to be expected on an SMS port of a GG game) so it may be a GG-on-a-Chip (not too far fetched as Techno Source makes all of Coleco's stuff including the handheld). I'll get some pics of it and it's innards at some point.
  3. Was perusing Wikipedia when I saw SuperUltimate (EA) in the list of 7th Generation Game Systems so I googled it and found this Article on Super Ultimate It's gotta be a blatent joke lol.. SuperUltimate?? Thats like a bad Chinese bootleg name. I think the "Are you dumb enough to believe this" is a good enough clue It seems infection as I've seen it on 3 other forums all linking back to this article.
  4. I've tried Ebay... most of them are overpricing or the seller has pretty bad feedback ratings (so far) I just ended up ordering the PnP version since I have another hack project in mind. But I havn't had any problem finding them, it's just the price that's turning me away. You could try finding the Canadian version by PlayPal though I doubt the pricing is any better particularly.
  5. Was at K-Mart today and found a Sonic Blast plug-n-play for 14.99 so I got it. My main concern though is the fact it's a product by Techno Source.. who knows if it's really running on Game Gear hardware... they could have made a half assed version for a NOAC POS.. hoping my money wasn't wasted. Anybody else see these? I didn't see it posted anywhere else on the Dedicated Systems forum.
  6. Yeah I was looking at the connector that Jameco had just yesterday, right now I don't have a SMS cart to compare it's specs to only a Game Gear game.. Hopefully I could find a broken Game Gear for that connector (wouldnt wanna cannibalize a working one :/ )
  7. I've dealt with the Phoenixtradingcompany.. I got my Xbox from them which they said was new in the box. It had saved games on it and the pack in game was dirty and when I questioned them they said they had to open it and test it to make sure it works (I hate when ebay sellers do this.. it defeats the purpose of Sealed in Box or Brand New Never Opened). The disc drive was a thompson so it failed pretty much several months later (I replaced it for free with a Samsung froma friends broken Xbox ) While I wont say their neccessarily bad sellers, they just arn't very honest.. My Xbox is still alive and kicking so I'm not complaining.
  8. I have a little SMS hack project in mind and I need to find a 50-pin cartridge connector along with a connector for a Game Gear... anybody have any idea where I could find these? I don't see many places selling replacement parts for old Sega systems. Hmm..
  9. GameStop makes close to 200% profit on used games, I worked for them and I know.. it's rather irritating that they can get away with that. Especially whrn they would take in some of the shittiest looking games and sell them for the same price as one in great shape.. I had a women come into the EB I worked at.. had a Genesis 1 and a Genesis 3 and games.. too bad she had nothing I wanted lol since they don't take those games anymore I could of gotten a great deal.
  10. I think it'd be funny to track this guy down to a game forum where he hasn't been found out yet and pull a P-P-P-P-Power Book like prank on him.
  11. I can't beleive they still have it at $50.. damn coleco and making Target it's exclusive retailer in the US.. If their anything like Walmart they won't price match interstore which is a pain in the ass. $50 is asking way too much and I don't see how their making too many sales with that pricing.
  12. is that a typo? "So I see a game in the display case, Chip & Dales Rescue rangers 2 for $29 loose." then you say it was $129 "$129 for Rescue Rangers 2....LOOSE!!!! You have to be kidding me, this game is NOT that rare!!" Rescue Rangers 2 wasn't even as good as the first one let alone worth more then 20
  13. Thats easily fixed, your capacitors in the post amp are dryed up, replace them and it'll play audio like new. Since it might be hard to find 10uv 16v a 10uv 35v should work.
  14. Gotta love how only the Jag community gets in arms when Jag backups are mentioned yet alot of people on this forum have no gripes with making and selling reproductions and hacks of existing 2600-7800 games which still have rights to their programmers.. Reproducing carts is the same as burning a game on CD-Rom. How is it a PC game is any different then a console game in legality.. their both programmed and intellectual property.. if a PC game can be back-uped legally why are console games an exception that makes no sense whatsoever.
  15. How is that done? I thought the rom chip was globbed. I hope you post that pinout soon EDIT: Whoops.. their are no globs
  16. Actually I was just speaking rhetorically you'd need an legitamate address to track this guy down if your gonna press charges and I think it'd be funny to read about this guy getting reemed by the law It just seems this guy thinks game collectors are idiots seeing as he's obviously been doing it alot. Who knows what other kind of collectors he's been preying on.
  17. Yes that's a good point, I should have clarified a 'reasonable price' I did after all pickup the Jag Ads CD for $20, and that was worth it. Especially for that horrific 'Cave' infomercial stuff. Gahhh!! I don't think theirs any reason to buy this other then for aesthetic purposes seeing as the demo was released to the public not to rain on anybodies parade but thats how I view it.
  18. I agree with you on that but on the other hand I'd pay for a tech demo CD only if it were sold at a reasonable price for a tech demo..
  19. This is actually a point in favor of everyone he's scammed. By taking payment through the mail (even if it's only $1, or an item of value which he offered to buy or take in trade) and delivering nothing, he's guilty of mail fraud, a federal offense. How many people has he ripped off? Dozens? By making a "federal case out of it", the victims can make this turd pay a huge fine or spend 10 years or more in prison. Anyone remember the movie The Firm? I can't find the script online, so I'm not sure of the exact line but it was something like up to 10 years in prison and $10,000 fine for each count of mail fraud. Question is.. is the mailing address he gives out real? Would make him rather stupid to give out all of his actual information.
  20. Do you know whats wrong with any of the units? Particularly the Master System?
  21. Typical shipping gouging.. theres not much that can be done about it.. unless the seller isn't a total ass. You could take it up with Ebay since he did claim he would adjust the shipping yet didn't when you won.
  22. Commadore is (or was) working on a real portable device, it would have had PDA functions, GPS and complete C64/128 compatability. Havn't heard much about it since though.
