You want lame consoles? How about:
Apple Pippin
CDTV
Studio II
Channel F
VIS
R-Zone
Tempest
you can't pick on the R-Zone, it's an LCD GAME "CONSOLE".. comparing it to other game consoles is rather unfair.
Gotta give the Channel F some credit, it did bring cartridge gaming to the industry.

As a toy collector, scalpers (or to be PC about it, "resellers"), are my natural enemy. I hate them with every fiber of my being. Like no other collector, i see the destructive impact they have on the environment in which they choose to operate-be it toys, video games, or yu-gi-oh cards.
To say that they hurt nobody but the person stupid enough to buy from them is ridiculous. How about the person that saved all year to buy a PS3 because he was ACTUALLY GOING TO PLAY IT, and was one step behind a scalper in line. Tell the gamers that stood in line for pre-orders and were beat out by scalpers that it's okay, the scalpers don't hurt anyone. Ebay, in partnership with these insipid individuals, has done more to ruin my many hobbies than anything else. Oh sure, it might be great if you live in the middle of nowhere and have no other outlet, but if you live in an actual city with most people, scalpers will plod their no-job-having asses to every store in your area at six in the morning and will have screwed you soundly by lunch.
To buy something you don't want or need just to "flip" it on Ebay is incredibly low. I don't care what the profit margins are, all i know is that i wish i was religious so i could imagine a special circle of hell reserved for the "powerseller". Get a real job, and stop ruining it for everyone else.
EXACTLY! Couldn't have said it better myself.

eBay sellers are going to get burned badly with chargebacks and ruined feedbacks. EB/Gamestop could lose the popularity until the next major console sale.
Screw those EBay re-sellers.
They make console launchs tougher for people who actually want to play the new consoles.
Ebay resellers are just another lowly form of Scalper. God forbid anybody actually pay the retail price on a PS3 at launch
Definately, screw the re-sellers
You know MSRP stands for Manufacturer's SUGGESTED Retail Price, right? It's not a law written in stone.
The fact that there's never more than a dime of deviation from that price tells you one thing: Sony/MS/Nintendo is price-fixing, ensuring these insane launch-day blitzes happen with every new piece of hardware.
I APPLAUD the eBay resellers. At least SOMEONE is getting paid what the systems are actually perceived as being worth.
It's just a pity that it's not the retailers saddled with games and accessories they can't move because no one owns the system.
God forbid that supply and demand actually be allowed to WORK.
Scalping is illegal and re-selling a launch system for 120%-150% more then the MSRB is scalping. By buying up most of the system just to sell them on ebay for more profit is wrong. Nobody actually owns the system who is selling it right now, their selling PIECES OF PAPER.. at $2000+ you have to be a total jackass to think thats ok.

Don't blame EB, it's all SONY, it's called Artificial Demand... they promise retailers a set amount then before launch cut the number of units in half. It's a cheap ass business tactic, I'd expect as much from Sony..

I have a boxed XPG version and several versions of the dorky headset version. I have about 7 or 8 games boxed in which all are in a safe place....in a box. The tabletop version( I do believe it is called the supervision) is blurry and hard to control. The picture that is on the headset package is priceless. About two years ago, I scored a headset version with a game Mask of Zorro(package and sealed). Anyone else have one of these?
I didn't realize they made a Mask of Zorro game, nice find. The Mega Screen was nothing more then an inverted slide projector, it was an interesting idea but really just novelty. The only game I had that came with a Mega Screen slide was Area 51. Have any scans of that Mask of Zorro/Headset pack?

I have the table top version, I had hoped this system was a lot better than I remembered it

A kid in my school had the eye patch version and I recall it being much better than it was.
How disappointed I became to see that no, it just is an lcd game machine.
I remember the ads, it was clearly advertised as an LCD game machine...
-
I got one of those back in the day when it was still marketed hah hah.. it wasn't a bad idea and some of the games had decent sound for LCD games. You really can't call the games poorly done... there is only so much you can do with LCD, and when you fired the thing up all the frames would glow for a second, they used EVERY inch of the LCD. I had Area 51 for it which was nicely done if not rediculously difficult. Also had Batman Forever, Virtual Fighter, and Mortal Kombat 3

I think you could only say it's not a true new console if it were an actual upgrade to the GameCube you could buy seperately. Because it is it's own "entity" it'd definately be classified as a new console.

Agreed. Wish we could have seen Thea Realm Fighters.
I remember a thread I came across on here that over 3 years old, some guy was trying to (maybe he succeeded, I doubt it..) buy the rights for Thea, don't have a clue whatever happened to that plan. The choppy animation from the videos of it kinda ruined the awe of it.. but that could have been fixed.

Don't know yet if I need the other two game.com systems. Maybe if they are coming up cheap one fine day on ebay.
As for Batman and Robin game, it was included with the game.com in UK, we got two free games, as seen on the box.
(Actually we got three free games in UK, as Batman and Robin was not available upon launch, but an enclosed letter from Tiger saying they're sorry for the non inclusion of B&R, so we get Wheel of Fortune. Also they enclosed an SASE and a reply coupon to fill out and receive B&R later, when it becomes available (free of charge)), which I did.
Hence WoF and B&R (and Lights Out anyway) are unboxed.
Well to have a truly complete collection you would, good job though.

Kasumi Ninja is not a bad fighting game. It was one of the first games I had for my Jag. I was the only person I knew with a Jag and a lot of friends liked to play it.
Kasumi would have been a great game if they had sped it up, replaced the crappy midi music (The Scottish Stages bagpipes were a travesty) and fixed some of the collision problems, otherwise it's a good game if not mostly flawed. Ultra Vortek shows how it should have been done. The dorky chinese announcer we could do without lol...

Your missing the two Pocket Pro Models W/ Backlight and later release sans Backlight

Mortal Kombat Trilogy for PS One doesn't work on the PS2 for some reason (I know it was one of the first announced incompatible PS One games right around the release of the PS2) which is a shame, since it features a lot of cool stuff not found in UMK3.
It does work on the PS2. I play it all the time. The only problem is that the game locks up if you let the continue timer run down to zero.
You must have a later PS2 model. The first few runs before they worked out alot of PS1 emulation incompatibilities couldn't run several PS1 games including MK Trilogy.

Is this another crappy NES-on-a-Chip from HK or does it have actual GG hardware in it?
-
I've done business with them on multiple occasions, no problems whatsoever.

-
This thread is about the X-Box or PS2 version. I figure both will just be the PS2 version.
Anyone pick it up yet? How is the create a fighter mode compared to Soul Calibur 3's similar mode?
Is the kart racer the only mini-game? I was really hoping for a return of Chess Kombat and Puzzle Kombat.
From what I read it's ALOT more customizable then the SC3 create a character, you can change every aspect of the character including the bust size of the female characters lol

So how many of you are basing your opinions on it from actually playing it or from this one review?

Can you all lead me in trying to figure out which Horror Based games are the best???
I'm a fan of the horror genre. I've played Resident Evil 1 and 2 multiple times. I haven't played the others yet... altough I hear that part 4 is very very good.
Last night I dove into the Silent Hill series... Finally. I've always goofed around without really playing them like I should. Then last night I sat down with my cheapo copy of Silent Hill (I got it right before the public masses went crazy and the price got jacked up on Ebay)...
I turned off all of the lights...
I turned on the surround sound....
and I played that game until 3:00 am when I finally beat it. (I started in the afternoon). I got the crappy ending... and I'll figure out the other endings sometime... but man I really enjoyed myself. I'm thinking about getting Resident Evil 4 for tonight.
What other horror games are really good? I've heard about Clock tower... FEAR... etc etc. Recently Rule of Rose came out. I heard the mechanics suck but the story line is great. I'm okay for that... as Silent Hills mechanics sucked as well... but I loved the storyline. Give me a list of your favorites. I've got Alone in the Dark (haven't played it yet) and I beat Parasite Eve already (the first one). What is a 'Must Have"?
Cold Fear is good if short

Unfortunately, however, the controller looks (and feels) like it was designed by dyslexic pygmy marmots spun out on LSD.
Yeah those controllers did look like crap, are the controller ports DIN? they look like DIN from the screen shots I've seen.
Now, by fighting, we don't mean actual combat. No, we mean beating your head against the wall because you have to wait upwards of twenty seconds BETWEEN EACH FIGHT (not each game, each ROUND) while the blasted thing loads. What kind of drive is it sporting? Makes me think of the NeoGeo CD and it's terribly slow loading
Imagine a CD-I. Remember those awful things?

No offense to Jag owners; but I've found that the more dedicated the fan base, the higher the prices in the market. In other words the more hardcore you are for something, the more willing you are to pay crazy prices for it.Jag owners are insane - two words - Battle Sphere. And the strange cult it's developed.

Yeah, you'd have to be insane to spend that much on ONE game. Thats why I never got it and probly never will.
-
I remember picking one up for 10, brand new in the box from GoAtari a couple years ago. I still hear the standards will sell for 15 brand new, that controller won't sell unless the bidder is an idiot.

Honestly, if nobody goes for the $10/pack they will drop the price. That assumes that they can drop the price. These cards seem to contain an RFID chip, and who knows how much that chip costs. So it's unclear to me how much lower they could really drop the price even if they wanted to....it will be a big problem for Mattel if they can't, IMHO.
It seems to me if Mattel were smart they would drop the card thing and start developing games that don't use cards. Question is, are they that smart?
Well their using Passive RFID, it could be as low as 5 cents per chip seeing as the technology is almost the same as the security devices used at WalMart and ToysRus, just alittle more sophisticated and probly hold alot more data
-
Honestly, if nobody goes for the $10/pack they will drop the price. I wonder if they actually did a market test on this :/ I can see some great potential, but I just don't see 3rd parties signing up for this lol Hell.. Capcom could make a killing if they brought a Mega Man Battlenetwork game to it, or Yu Gi Oh even (blech!).. that makes more sense if they wanna get anywhere with it. Some original titles would be nice too if it doesn't flop.

hmm.. you all make complaints about what this guy wrote yet your doing the same thing, I don't know why you all have to be so hard on the Game.com.. I loved the Game.com, now it's no gameboy and the games could have been programmed alot better BUT RE2 for the Game.com was amazing, what did Gameboy get? RE Gaiden.
And.. don't be so quick to bash the Hyperscan, the system has only just entered the market. Wait till they pull the plug before you call it a total failure.
