  1. What AX is trying to say, is either bite the bullet and take the 2.9% hit on your sale or increase the asking amount to reflect said surcharge.

BTW: a couple of other forums I belong to (that deal in multi-thousand dollar sales), ask for the same surcharge quite often. They round up to 3% usually and you just tack that on to the final price. No big whoop. And really, it's none of PayPal's business what a buyer<>seller agree upon. Their primary function is in trading currency. In certain, higher end circles, it's kind of become internet trading etiquette to acknowledge that the seller shouldn't always have to eat payment related fees. We're talking about used stuff here by private individuals. If your only means of payment is by credit card, it is my belief that the buyer should be the one that gets penalized - NOT the seller. The interest rates inherent on said banks cards universally and fundamentally reflect that same belief. It's different when you're paying for something in a retail environment. Quite often as per S&P's, the almost 3% bank card fee is built into the price. In the past, especially at the gas pump, you used to see two different prices for things: one for cash and the other for credit. But there I go reminiscing again. Now it's 2010 and every thing's F'd up!

At the end of the day: best comply, eat, bend over, bite the bullet or whatever - if you want to make that all important sale.

I can't stand paypal. BUT, do you expect them to do the service for free? and who should be hit with the charge for using paypal? The person receiving the cash of course, its no different an expectation than Mastercard or Visa impose. Sure, momn and pop shops still whine about the charges, hell, some of them set CC minimums. But they can not, in any way shape or form ask for more money because you paid with a credit card, and neither can a paypal seller.

You can silently charge by adding 5% to the lowest price you are willing to accept or STFU and eat the fee. posting in a public place that you are going to violate the policy makes it easy for paypal to close your account when a potential buyer makes them aware of your violation.

Know the rules. If you don't like them, don't play.

  3. No but there is a history of people signing onto Internet forums trying to sell stuff whilst ripping people off. And a low post count is suspect to some of us! Just like zero or low feedback on eBay. Some don't want to risk hundreds of $. Would you??? Someone who has been on here for years wants to uphold their rep. They are not going to rip off someone. Nothing against you man but you jumped onto my thread trying to sell a very rare item (even more rare than me!) and we should trust you with no question? No thanks. Establish a positive rep then you can get away with it.

So basically you think your system weeds out the hit and run scammers. you know, Thieves are a crafty bunch and the long con would cost you sooo much more. And you have basically set yourself up for a long con with your idiotic post count theory.

its like when you question a long standing member and are told how awesome they are and to just look at their post count....

  4.

You might want to get the post count up and or list on eBay. Nobody is gonna wanna risk a few hundred $ via PM. ;)

I love that. Like the number of messages on a message board on the internet makes you trustworthy somehow. Please, tell me what the magic number of posts make you a trustworthy person.

Or is there a scale? like:

0-9 posts person is not trustworthy

10-21 posts person is trustworthy up to $30

22-50 posts person is trustworthy up to $70

    and so on.....

I am guessing you see the flaw in the logic of post count = reliable...

  5. Judging by how many PMs I received asking about C64s and 1541s, I thought I'd post a topic.

Our club sells c64s and 1541s tested and working for $25 each. This is not some out of alignment ebay risky drive, but fully tested.

We will sell a c64 and a 1541 for $40 plus shipping to anyone here. Contact our clubs hardware inventory guru, hellion_1 at dfisher AT tds DOT net

  6. Just when I think I have this place figured out... wow.. just.. wow...

I hear ya man.... In all seriousness, I'd expect something like this from the Gamefaqs forum. Modding an already perverted game to say "Milf Tech", and then adding panties. Thats something I wouldn't expect from any self respecting adult, let alone a mod on atariage (one of the best forums I've seen).

Says the guy with a Godzilla pic as his avatar.....

Yes, once you become an adult, fun and humor are supposed to vanish, thats why there are so few people on Atariage right?

If this kind of thing offends you why would you click on a topic with MILFy in the title? Seriously? Its like you were looking for something (harmless) to complain about.

  7. Its stupid that there are such a limited amount of cc2. For me the harmony has killed the cc2, I have all the 7800 games, so I really don't need 7800 compat that much.

The harmony is also priced significantly lower than the CC2 was even at launch. The "rarity" is artificial.....
