  1. thanx so much for putting these up

    i have a question though

i downloaded all 3 zip files--took some time but i did it

holmes 2 and 3 open fine and unzip

holmes1 gives me an error when i try to unzip it

    anyone else have this happen?

i actually downloaded it a second time and got the same thing

I just unzipped Holmes1 and it extracted fine. What unzip program are you using??

i downloaded them one at a time--not using the torrents

holmes1 took something like 5 hours--did it overnight---said the download was something like 61mb

    holmes2 took a while too

    holmes3 didn't take that long

i was able to extract all the files just using win xp

holmes 2 and 3 extracted fine

i see all the files in the new unzipped folder

holmes1 however gave me an error that the file was corrupted or invalid

so i trashed it and downloaded it again--same thing

then i downloaded it a third time and tried to open it with win zip and i got the same message

    what gives?

  2. As some of you have already noticed, I zipped up the three directories (cds) of the Holmes collection and they are sitting on my webserver:

    http://www.langesite.com/Atari/Holmes/

Get them while you can. My wife and I are relocating from Denver to Miami and the bandwidth isn't currently being used (by us). At some point in the near future the web server will be coming down while our stuff is moved.

I expect it will be back up a month or so after it goes down, but the zip files will be gone and it will be back to downloading one .atr at a time ...

    Regards,

    Bill

  3. i have a mega 1 st laying around for a while

it had 220v power supply---i replaced it with 120v

i hooked up a kb and mouse to it and it boots to desktop--german TOS

i already have enough things to keep me busy

don't really feel like finding an english TOS and taking it apart again

    anyone interested?

    make me an offer

case is in great shape--pretty clean--battery compartment is very clean

  4. i have an 800xl that doesn't power on--very clean--maybe an easy fix--if not it's definitely usable for the casing and keyboard

also have a near mint 600xl-powers on but i don't get video--screen is kinda olive green(instead of going blue) with no ready prompt--might also be an easy fix-keybaord and casing are excellent

i don't feel like being bothered to open them up to see if they have chips that just need to be reseated

make me an offer on one or the pair

    no cords included--just the consoles

  5. came across an expansion board of some sort on my shelf

    don't remember what it is

was in a boxed labeled Falcon030

    SIMM RAM

    memory expansion card

but i don't know if it belonged in that box

the card has 8 chips on it

    and says 1/4 MEG

    copyright atari corporation 1992

    CA401292

can someone please tell me what it is?

    thanx

    It's a Falcon030 RAM card, 1 or 4MB. Came stock with the Falcon030.

    how can i tell if it's a 1 or 4 meg?

It can be used for either, depending on the simm that is installed. I think there is also jumpers to tell the board what is installed (1mb/4mb)

    does anyone need it?

i don't have a falcon--wish i did but with the prices they go for i don't think i'll be buying one unless i hit the lottery or my wife suddenly loses her mind and allows me to buy one

  13. My favorite so far is Activision's "The Great All-American Cross-Country Road Race," which is basically a "Cannonball Run" version of the 2600 game Enduro.

ditto---i love the great all-american cross country road race

i would play it for hours

now you've got me thinking about it --i'm gonna have to go fire it up

  15. i have a european(german to be precise) model mega st 1

    it takes 220v

instead of getting a step up transformer or whatever it's called to use it in my home-in USA-would it be possible to swap the power supply for a US model one?

is it just a straight swap?

    anyone ever done it?

can i use the power supply from a 1040st or are they different?

any help would be greatly appreciated

    thanks for reading
