I did some more research and digging and found pertinent info in this thread: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/238049-new-discovery-get-master-sys-ctlrs-to-work-w-edladdin-seagull78-adapter/ Very useful thread, as it contains pictures, so I could make sure I was buying the right thing. So it looks like the way to go, in addition to the Seagull adapter, is to get the Sega Rapid Fire Unit, which I found on eBay for $20 (plus $5 shipping), new (well, new old stock) and sealed, which seemed pretty reasonable. Went ahead and ordered that, along with the Seagull adapter. Cost a bit more than $53 combined, but not too exorbitant. Seems worth it if I can use my beloved SMS 500XJ controller.

I am quite interested in knowing more about this. I have an Epyx 500XJ joystick for the Sega Master System which works perfectly with the Redemption 5200 Sega Genesis adapter, so I assumed that it would also work (as a Sega Genesis controller would) on the 7800 with the Seagull adapter. Can someone tell me more about this Sega Master System Autofire adapter? What is the easiest way to make an SMS controller compatible with the Seagull 7800 adapter? I was just ready to order a Seagull adapter but will hold off until I can get some more info.

I've been following you forever but I think this is my first time posting. Great to see you back here after your sabbatical. Keep up the great work! I wanted to chime in here and say this has always been one of my favorite games. When I was a kid, I was obsessed with this game and was always trading cartridges with another kid who had it. You mentioned that there was a steep learning curve, but I never felt there was--when I read the instructions just before I started playing, I understood the rules instantly just from looking at the examples in the booklet. I'd even play it on notebook paper when the cartridge wasn't in my possession. To this day I still think it's one of the coolest games ever. I remember reading VGC's review of it and just couldn't believe it. I would give it a solid 'A'! I even use it in class occasionally; I'll draw the grids on the board and my students have a great time trying to use strategies and beat each other (they learned just as quickly as I did). Just thought you'd like to know that this game does indeed have its fans, even if it's only me.

Does S-video cable make that much of a difference
k8track replied to A_Gorilla's topic in Atari Jaguar
I've been wanting an S-Video cable for a while now but it's very hard to find the official one. However, if this homebrew one does indeed work as well as the official one, then I'll go ahead and get it. The link above doesn't work anymore; it took me a little exploring to find the current working one: http://morethangames.a8maestro.com/prodgame/advert-g4.htm Also, there's someone from Poland on eBay right now selling some homebrew ones: http://cgi.ebay.com/Atari-Jaguar-S-VIDEO-A...1QQcmdZViewItem Anyone know anything about these? Any more comments about Rick's? One way or another, I'll end up getting one of them. -
I'm selling a Magnavox Odyssey, totally complete except the original box. However, it includes the hard-to-find white carrying case, which has not yellowed. The instructions for the console are missing, but the instructions from the rifle are there. All of the pieces and overlays are included, and the system works. Also included are two complete games, Baseball and Invasion. The Baseball box has some damage (not pictured—there’s a hole on the opposite edge side), so it’s not perfect. The rifle is also included. It originally came with cartridges #9 and #10, but unfortunately #10 is missing. The box for the rifle is only in subpar to fair condition. Everything is already packaged up very securely in large boxes (there are two boxes, one for the rifle and two boxed games, and one with the console and carrying case), ready to be shipped. They are somewhat oversized, and I would prefer to ship them only via UPS within the U.S. and to Canada. Shipping them overseas would be quite expensive. Asking $225 firm (plus actual cost of shipping). Here are some pictures:

If or when you ever did this, I would be extremely interested in using it!

Excellent name! I especially like how it bridges the gap between R (Reindeer Rescue) and T (Toyshop Trouble).
-
I'll second that. Toyshop Trouble is my most played 2600 homebrew, one year later. I think it's going to be 5 times as good this year! 5 times as good eh? Me thinks there be a clue in that statement. Multi cart, perhaps? Let me see if I can guess the name... in keeping with a "Christmas" or "winter" theme, with an alliteration motif and something to do with "five"... I'm going to guess... POLAR PENTATHLON! Close?

CIB Quadrun and Boing!, loose Miner 2049er Vol. II

CIB Quadrun and Boing!, loose Miner 2049er Vol. II
k8track replied to k8track's topic in Auction Central
Thanks for the kind words and advice; I hadn't really seen any other Miner Vol II auctions--I did some searching, but didn't see anything. I was going by the DP price which says $75.00 loose, so it must have commanded that price at one time or another. $50.00 would have been nice. I'd like to get some feedback on shipping--I always require (at least) Priority Mail, which can get a bit pricey for international shipping. One main reason is that I've got my shipping process as streamlined and simplified as possible, and have a room set aside as my mailing room, with all the different sizes of USPS-provided Priority Mail boxes at my fingertips, as well as packing supplies such as tape, bubble wrap, and scales and mailing slips (insurance, delivery confirmation, return receipts). Since one isn't allowed to use a Priority Mail box for First Class shipping, it's a bit frustrating to have to hunt down another box from somewhere to use for it, if someone insists upon First Class, especially when I already have it all packed up and ready to ship beforehand (I pack them up so I can weigh the packages properly before I even start the auction). Is it unreasonable for me to just offer Priority Mail shipping for international customers? Is it really faster and more secure than First Class which would justify its higher price? -
CIB Quadrun and Boing!, loose Miner 2049er Vol. II

Man, someone got a good deal. I really thought it would've gone for a great deal more than that. Maybe I just should have put a $75 BIN on it or something. Any advice for next time? -
CIB Quadrun and Boing!, loose Miner 2049er Vol. II
k8track replied to k8track's topic in Auction Central
Just a reminder that the MTV2 (the Tigervision game, not the channel!) auction ends in less than 24 hours. Right now it's at $15.50. As the seller, I'm hoping it will go for just a bit more than that (I realize not many buyers will chime in with that). -

Thanks, Atariager! I'll get it out to you as soon as possible--if not today, then definitely tomorrow. I'll email you the delivery confirmation numbers when I do. -

Argh, I can't believe I didn't realize that myself! I was overthinking it and trying to make it mean something like Psychological Impediment Thwarting Action, or something like that. -

I added a little bit more to the description of my Quadrun auction which highlights the excellent care in which it was kept--hopefully this will reassure potential bidders. -
Thanks, everyone, for all the good vibes. I appreciate the encouragement and solidarity. I'm not taking it down this time for anything, even though it is starting to seem that the fates are conspiring against me. I think that smart and conscientious buyers will be more hesitant to buy the one that was just listed, despite its being sealed. It's a bit smashed. I think that would make people think twice about what the inside stuff looks like. Could be fine, but you never know. I'm not worried about it. It's no big deal this time as I had the presence of mind to put on a reserve. One way or another, I'll get something good out of it.

Holy smoke, that went fast! I was basing that BIN price on an earlier one I saw a couple months back, I recall it being between $200-$250, I think. -
I have some items up for auction: complete in box Quadrun and Boing!, and a loose copy of Miner 2049er Vol. II. http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZk8track

Quadrun........Is this the demise of it's rarity
k8track replied to ninermaniac's topic in Atari 2600
As I mentioned, I'm putting my CIB Quadrun back up for auction on or right around the first of November, if anyone is interested. And this time I'm saying damn the torpedoes and not taking it down for anything, no matter even if someone finds a huge pallet of shrinkwrapped new-old-stock copies in Rhodesia or Greater Prussia, or if the day after someone decides to put up a limited edition Quadrun with rare hexagon-shaped box autographed by Thurgood Marshall and with twelve extra in-game voice-synthesized Cold-War-era propaganda phrases. -
Quadrun........Is this the demise of it's rarity
k8track replied to ninermaniac's topic in Atari 2600
Back in August (as perhaps a few people here might recall), I had a CIB Quadrun up for auction. It was up for exactly one day when someone else decided to put their (slightly more "complete") CIB Quadrun up for auction (it had the Atari Club contest paper with it), severely compromising mine. I was advised to pull the auction and wait until November to try again. Now this new development has me worried. I really want to get the full-dollar value I was expecting and hoping for. I am still planning on putting it up on November 1, and I guess I will put a reserve on it (and possibly a BIN). Hopefully I will get what I want out of it.
