  1. Also thanks to d-wilson for his "tips" . I only think how could a prototype came here back in 1984 in the hands of a "local" reviewer !?! There's no title screen in the review's photos [ again http://www.retrogaminghistory.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1712 ] , so I'm not sure the game showed is T.& F. or L.A.1984 G. . I only have to believe reviewer's words ... and it's not excluded I'll try to contact him , after all these years ( there are MANY videogames journalists that are still on the way ) !
  2. Yeah . I have R'nR , UK , and it gives me the same B/W images ( VCS PAL 6switch , Italy )
  3. Ok , thanks . L.A.'84 games question RESOLVED and ARCHIVED !
  4. Heh , OK , I got it ! BUT ... if it was a WIP , then HOW could you have a screenshot ( and a kinda' flyer ) ? [ Ok ... you're a "Raider of the lost CARTRIDGE" ] Any more infos about it ? ... so I could post them in a local forum ... [ http://www.retrogaminghistory.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1712 ] Thnx
  5. Hi I want to talk about a "strange" case of rarity ... A few years ago I decided to re-purchase some of my "lost" cartridges ... so I re-exhumed my collection of early-80's italian VideoGame reviews to seek out more info , with the HUGE help of ( OF COURSE ) AtariAge-cartridges guide . I discovered that on the guide there is NOT any reference to THIS game ( see attached jpg ) ... Well , this is "our" italian review of a game called "Los Angeles 1984 games" , European "port" for the VCS of the popular Konami's Track & Field . ?!?!?!?!?!?!?????????????? There's NOTHING about it in EVERY site I already watched , 'cause they all talk about the "regular" Track & Field cartridge ( and , of course , its dedicated controller ) . Maybe YOU , members af AE , could know something ...
  6. Hi "restoring" cartridges ? Well , here is a link to an italian forum ( hehe , I'm italian ... so just watch the images and maybe "catch" some essential translation ) in wich I explained how I resumed ( or re-exhumed ? ) some of my old cartridges whose didn't seem to run anymore on my VCS , after about 20 - 25 years ... http://www.retrogaminghistory.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1290
  7. I'm impressed watching all these HUGE collections .................... Well , just want to post , as I have already done in another section , some pics of my VCS' new "house" er... monitor bezel is 'kinda deformed ! I'm gonna fix it RIGHT NOW ... My (few ) carts Hey ! ... look at Missile Command and Bump'n Jump labels... I did NOT find them in the rarity guide ( ??? ) Maybe someone knows anything about it ??? >[ btw: I checked the guide and didn't find rarity rate for those games, too : Beamrider (Activision - PAL - White) Donkey Kong (CBS - PAL - UK color) Kung-Fu Master (HES - PAL - ?) Roc'n Rope (CBS - PAL(UK) - UK white) Smurf (CBS - PAL - UK color) Zaxxon (CBS - PAL - UK white) ]< "Survived" boxes & instruction booklets Me and wife will soon move from our house to another which has a little tavern in the garage... so I think I'm soon goin' to EXPAND my VCS collection ... and maybe get or build (like I did for my DL , Mame and "mini Pac-Man VCS cab !!!) 1 or 2 more arcade machines, too
  8. The Pac was and still is THE ICON for videogames. And it was for VCS, too. I recently builded a new "home" for my VCS... http://picasaweb.google.it/macdlsa/AtariVCSMiniCab# ... and a little mini"showcab" for the dedicated mobile phone (eeeMame) http://picasaweb.google.it/macdlsa/MacDLSA...813847696849042 This is to show how much I like Pac-Man in ALL his ways. btw: unfortunately I lost my Table-Top http://www.handheldmuseum.com/Coleco/PacMan.htm
  9. Hey Random...("gypsy", translated from our language) Here in Italy we could not buy the games you mentioned until the first months of the 1985 . So it's not properly "early '80s" for us... Ok,you're right about E.T. , but it' s completely different. Pac-Man is a pure "start&play" action game , while E.T. is a BAD, complicate and awful adventure-like game in which the player have to do much more than eat dots and avoid ghosts . I still think people had to watch "Secret of Nimh" instead of watching "E.T." at the cinemas in 1982 ... and so Atari would NOT sold so many copies of that horrible tie-in ( btw: I bought it , completed it and still have it in my VCS collection ) . Sorry for have just mentioned B.M. ... You're a veteran in this forum (year 2001 , 13k posts...) while I'm "new" , so I know almost NOTHING about it . I'm just a 39yo italian VCS fan.
  10. There were no Pac-alternatives in the early 80's , except of some crappy clones for Philips Videopac and other systems... Atari sold LOTS of Pac-Man cartridges all over the globe , so I think all VCS owner , me included , enjoyed that deformed yellow ball (who don't wanna turn its face up &/or down ) , clippy sounds , dots that became segments , powerpills and fruits turned into squares... But if we talk of "pure" coin-op porting , then I sure have to agree with the "popular" judgements ( heh ... let's ask to Mr. Billy Mitchell if he agrees , too ) . Its sequels Ms. and Jr. for the VCS were (are) SO MUCH better , in all ways !
  11. Hi I'm Marco from Italy I was around here since 2 years (...since they gave me an Internet connection...) , but I never posted anything ... SORRY Well ... just a "little" story I am Atarian since 1982 , when my parents gave me the fabulous VCS ( a "Stella"-"Woody" 6 switches , 1st version ) . Italy was ( and still is ) some years "later" from U.S.A. or U.K. , so I remember I was one of the first VCS guy around here ! I always kept it in good shape & condition , but unfortunately I lost almost all packages ... Well , just 2 years ago I decided to give a "new home" for my VCS , and this is the result : http://lh5.ggpht.com/_Aus_3scYLgs/SVvpvm5n...riVCScab_01.jpg http://lh5.ggpht.com/_Aus_3scYLgs/SVvpwJc9...riVCScab_02.jpg http://lh5.ggpht.com/_Aus_3scYLgs/SVvpwrKX...riVCScab_03.jpg http://lh5.ggpht.com/_Aus_3scYLgs/SVvpxkkr...riVCScab_04.jpg ...and these are all the "survived" boxes & instruction booklets : http://lh6.ggpht.com/_Aus_3scYLgs/SVvpyM7G...ridge_boxes.jpg And , to remain in the right of this topic , this is my other machines in my little garage - arcade room : http://lh3.ggpht.com/_Aus_3scYLgs/SR8Coyc8...20/15112008.jpg Bye for now
