  1. I just ordered a set off eBay.. I'm really liking them! The only complaint I have so far is they suck for Asteroids.. When I push to the right to spin my ship, it fires the rockets every time and I get killed.. They seem spot on for every other game I tried them on, though!

  2. If you read into the latter pages of the "Easier Composite Video Mod" thread, most of the ghosting issues have been resolved through trial and error.

So the composite video mod is the best way so far to get the highest quality picture? Has anyone made a component mod? Modern TVs still ship with those...

  3. This one was recommended last time

I had a couple of issues with that one; the ghosting was fairly noticeable and Ballblazer just wouldn't work for some reason. Personally I'd order one of LHE's boards and mod my 7800 with that instead.

This is exactly what I'm talking about.. Someone always reports something goofy with each mod... The Longhorn is an S-Video mod, right? Last time I checked the Longhorn site, it said it was out of stock.. Where did you order it?

  4. I second this.. I've used the forum search function, and there doesn't seem to be any definitive answers about the best mod for the 7800.. Every way has something screwy with it.. Composite would be cool, but which way gets the BEST picture quality from the 7800 to modern television sets? I've been thinking about it for a while now, since my XM is on the way...

  5. Hi Guys:

Well, I truly have egg on my face.

I apologize to all involved. Especially Curt, GroovyBee, Sauron, and Al. I just felt like I was being piled on. First what I thought was the XM box, (boxes usually only have one 'face' side to advertise with, no?). With as much as this hobby means to me, I was hurt where I shouldn't have been. I made two statements about it and tried to drop it, but then sermajic started. When Underball was calling him out, it looked to me like Sauron was more concerned with what Underball's comments than seeing what was going on. Finally, I got the (incorrect) feeling that GroovyBee wanted me to leave. Now - something that I never told anyone until now is that: add to that getting three health bad news within one week: 1) My brother's "Trigeminal Neuralgia" started up again, after two procedure that were supposed to help remove the pain, 2) My wife having two (plaque) blockages in her legs and possibly needing stents (although since then she's been put on Plavix and told to walk more - they will do the procedure if it gets worse), and 3) My best Friend finding a lump on his neck and being told they need to take a biopsy to see if it's the big 'C' word or not. Please keep in mind that I am not making excuses, just giving you the state of mind I am in - why my thought process may be a little altered and I wasn't as patient as I normally am. Anyway add all of that together, and I felt like I was being piled on, and had some choice words for everyone involved which I now regret.

Anyway, after all is said, I again apologize, and promise to try harder not to let someone (i.e. sermajic) have that much power again.

    Thank you everyone.

    Bob

    No sweat! Glad you're back!

  6. I noticed it a day ago. It skips all the Atari related forums, and skips right to Classic Gaming General. It worls fine on my computer.. I never had a problem like this before...

Mine was working fine just a little while ago...what model / OS are you running it on? That may be an issue, but I am sure Al would know for certain.

iPhone 4 running iOS 4.3.3, which is the latest... I am jailbroken though, with useragentfaker installed, which tricks websites into thinking I'm on a desktop computer.. It always worked fine for me, and I don't have this problem on any other sites...

  7. For all you OSX users, I got this working in Crossover 8. It runs Windows programs without a Window install. I still have to figure out how to load the roms, though. I put Tempest 2000 in the roms folder, and typed the command, but no dice...

Did you include the file extension? And then hit F5?

Nope.. I'll give it a try...

I did this, and have gotten the Red Screen of Death, whether I load the rom, or just hit F5 without typing a file path...

  11. I have just moved, and was able to submit my new address successfully to Legacy Engineering via their website. I used the "Contact Us" link at the top of the page.

Within a few days, I received an email confirming the change, which also let me know my ship date is May 12.

    That is great! Can't wait!

Can you give me the email you used? I clicked that, but the email was returned. Here's what it says:

Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently:

    Technical details of permanent failure:

Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 550 550 5.1.1 <[email protected]> User unknown; rejecting (state 14).

  12. I checked in to see if there were any updates. There aren't. Just a lot of people telling one guy that he isn't entitled to an opinion if it isn't a glowingly positive sycophantic overture for the XM and everyone working on it.

I see!! You said your peace... We get it!! No need to keep repeating yourself! Good lord!!!

Read this post back to yourself. Slowly if need be.

Note the irony in what you're telling me to do. (or more correctly, not do.[/

You're so awesome! Smart, too!! What a jackass...

Movie critics don't have to be directors in order to criticize films. If you restrict the ability to be critical only to people who can replicate the product, you essentially say you refuse to be criticized.

Not to split hairs, but as far as the XM, nothing has been physically produced, as far as I can tell. So being critical of it or praising it, is still at this point, praising/criticizing an idea. If people want others to be less critical of it, then the device needs to actually exist in people's hands so they can see if it lives up to all the high claims made of it.

Decent movie critic analogy, but I see one problem with it.. Movie critics aren't going to repeatedly review the same movie over snd over.. They watch it, publish their review, and move on to the next movie.. It's fine to not like a product, and voice your opinions.. What was rubbing everyone the wrong way was page after page of seemingly wanting others to agree with their viewpoint.. I said it a couple of pages ago, and I guess I'll repeat it again from post 161:

I respect that this is a forum, and this is a place for discussion but some of you go way too far... Just page after page of seemingly trying to get people over to your way of looking at it!!! If that's not what the motivation is, I'm completely lost then!

I understand you dont like or approve of the the way the XM is being developed, the cost of it, the feature set, or any misc. gripe.. We all get that... Speak your peace, and keep it moving.

Geez! It's not been as much fun to come around here lately...

C'mon! This makes sense! Think about it!!
