  1. I think less...

    Some animation share common sprites.

Another very rough calculation by head :

    Step,jump,run,fall,climb,drink... Each animation with about 10 frames = 60

The sword fight I think uses the same number of the guardian, about 35

And other small animations or sprites alone, really don't know here, let say about 15 sprites...

110 in a very very rough number.

Nathan, join with me and Le Geek! :ponder: Let's create a sprite team for this project! What you think?

  2. Me too ;)

And the amazing is, althoug this game seems complex, it's fit perfectly the vcs hardware :

    - 2 Sprites per row, using both missile for sword or increase the sprite resolution.

    - Ball for falling bricks (my suggestion, don't know if possible)

    - Fixed screen, assimetrical playfield for level design.

    - Like the original, this game uses 1 action button only.

    Everthing flicker free! ;)

Ok sometimes there's a guardian and one trap at same row, and the flicker is necessary, but it's a rare case.

The biggest problem on the vcs was the ram. However with melody cart it's no more a problem.

The universe is conspiring for this game be real :ponder:

  3. Both goals are pretty ;)

Yes, I hate that kind of horns too ;)

Here's the soccer team I like, Atlético Paranaense, from my city. The staduim construction will be finished in next months.

It's the final of "state cup" (plays only teams from my state) Atlético wins this match by 2x1, but sadly, an early result give the cup for the opponent team. Stupid rule!

  4. Hm... yes...

Well, it's just one idea in the air. Alot of people will complain about the 1 lemming only on screen, but I don't care.

Going more deep on vcs lemming, I need create traps also, but can be something simple, such one missile like a falling brick.

Pressing the controller fire button, off character range, the screen pause, so you

have all the time to select new tools. The tool box just highlight using a flicker object, there is no reason to "click" on it as you always need hang one tool.

Or wait... press the button to highlight the toolbox, then pushing left or right you change the tool at any cursor position, while lemming keep walking. The cursor can be changed if you're in lemming range, this means the tool can be used.

Time is necessary and the remaining time if level complete, can be the score points.

I can create hundreds of levels in a 32 kb rom, of course, the levels aren't the same from original, and in a fixed screen.

The playfield must be stored on ram to be easily burried.

I'll try to do a decent mockup and post here. Something more plausible.

Too bad we haven't more sprites on vcs, another cool game lemmings style is krusty super fun house, I enjoyed so much the snes version (I think is the same version for all game systems).

  5. Thank you guys ;)

I have another idea, to keep the game lemming style, but change the main character to an goblin/ leprechaun, and instead to find the exit door, find the golden pot ;)

So this mask the use of 1 character only and turn the game more "original".

  6. I'm big fan of Æon Flux also :)

Dali began the works of this movie in 1946, less than 10 years after Dysney Snow White... If I'm not wrong.

Ok they use computer to finish it, anyway there is a huge talent on this short movie.

As for 2D - it's not dead yet. Disney's The Princess and the Frog is 2D. Admittedly, it's yet-another-Disney-Princess film, but it's a start. They have to fix the animation machine first, before they can start taking risks again.

At least they have an 2d project, it's good to know :)

  7. It's nice to know I'm not unique that don't like Lion King.

The last Dysney movie that really impressed me was Beauty and the beast.

And I'm sad to see that 2D animations is out of fashion.

Actually, 3D animation is faster and way easy to do compared to 2D and not need a true artist to give life for the characters.

    That's why I hate 3D animations.

Nathan, did you hear about Destino?

It's a short animation drawed by Salvador Dali, THAT is a animation, too bad he quit the drawings of this movie, so there are only few minutes of animation, but is the most beautifull animation I ever seen. I hope they release it for DVD.
