  1. Updated the list to include Heartbreak that I stumbled upon in the Homebrew section.
  2. Nice Bob, add me to the list when available.
  3. We played Fathom in the HSC one time and the moderator always liked to post the top three TG scores. Todd Rogers had some crazy score in excess of 1,000,000! Turns out the games actually ENDs when you beat all the levels. A perfect score is likely somewhere in the low 30k's if someone could fly through the maps at top speed and make zero mistakes. A score of over 1M is so high above any possible theoretical score that one must laugh. Also, for Cosmic Ark there is a trick to getting high scores. Hint: don't keep trying to rescue all the aliens. Also, keep the difficulty at a moderate level. Once you figure it out then all you need is patience and you can get whatever score you want. I actually consider this a gameplay "glitch". There are a few games with gameplay "glitches" such that if you play the game a certain way then any score is possible. Riddle of the Sphinx, Crossbow, Dark Chambers, Deadly Duck are a few others that come to mind.
  4. Ah ha, I did not know this. Thanks Thomas! I like how they blended the gameplay on this one. Mototcross was a PAL exclusive, correct? Has it been converted to NTSC?
  5. I finally found a TV with a vertical hold adjustment. I can now play PAL games with my US console (minus a few lines at the top and bottom). This gets me to the question of the OP. After playing Motocross by suntek it seems to be a hack of Enduro with elements of River Raid thrown in. I actually like the added dimension of needing to refuel along with passing other motorcycles. To me it blurs the line of what is called a hack. Maybe an enhanced hack?
  6. I had a bad experience with an international shipment (that turned out good in the end). I do not know if it had to do with DHS or some other part of the customs process. Mega kudos to the publishers of Retro Gamer magazine!! I had place a fairly big order of some of their back issues including the new "Atari 40th Anniversay Book" (I wish there weren't so many typos, but that's okay). The order came in two shipments; each package (bubble envelope) had 5 magazines in it. The first half arrived, but the bubble envelope was cut open, just enough to see the contents. However, no attempt was made to even seal up this cut. Fortunately, the cut was small enough such that the shipment made it to me fine. However, the second half of the order arrived in an "I'm sorry" bag from the USPS stating they received it without any contents. In this case there was not a small cut, but the entire length of the bubble envelope was cut open! Again, no attempt was made to seal this massive gash so of course the contents would spill out somewhere. See pictures below. The massive cut was not even necessary as it appears the corner was already cut open to inspect the contents. I can only guess as to why the entire back was opened and everything went missing. In the end the Retro Gamer people sent me a new order and it got here just fine with any cuts at all. Go figure.
  7. Thanks, I followed up with those links and he sent one off to me. Got it in my hands. Do I dare try it?
  8. I agree with this. I have found that 70-80% of all 6-switch (heavy or light) systems do not play River Raid II well or at all. All 4-switch systems have no issues. However, the 6-switchers can be fixed although I am not sure of the underlying issue. I sent my light sixer (from my childhood) to Lance at Video 61 many years ago thinking it was broke because it didn't play River Raid II. I remember I couldn't play it as a kid either though. Anyway, he did fix it so now it does play the game.
  9. I've had great experiences with LittleJoe, sean49938, and akaviolence. I recommend them all.
  10. This is great that so many people have joined this thread. It looks like we may have all the clone games eventually as well as the homebrews that keep coming thanks to Paul's mad S2 skills! Here's a pic of over 30 cart shells to donate towards multi-carts (27 working and 5 non-working).
  11. Was this ever released? I payed my $65 (last September) and have not got anything yet. I wanted it as a novelty item for my collection, but no word so far.
  12. Thanks for sharing all this! Prior to this thread I had recently scanned a bunch of my RCA Studio II manuals found here. I used the best manuals I had and scanned at 1200 dpi, then scaled down a bit, did some basic touch up and saved as jpg files. I am actually in the process of finishing up the School House I books (both versions), the owners manual and all the other US paperwork (order form, brochure, warranty, etc.)
  13. He just modded my 4-port Atari 5200 system to have s-video, power mod and a cool blue LED. Everything looks and works great. He also shipped fast and packaged the item extremely well. You can tell he cares about doing top quality work!
  14. Count me in for one! No savekey is needed. I already have one and an AtariVox.
  15. Slightly off-topic, but here is a good starter set on eBay (not mine) for an okay price for what you get. Also, I just won two more common games on eBay and cleaned out the RCA Studio II game inventory at Atari2600.com. Hopefully, there should be no worries about finding enough donor carts. I think I have about 20 or more now.
  16. I have the USA "Fun with Numbers" cart. Also, another AA member is the proud owner of "Star Wars".
  17. I have interest and, as mentioned earlier, I have many donor carts to help make a project happen.
  18. You're welcome, and I updated the first post with the new GRIIe.bin file from your thread.
  19. You're welcome! Also, I just updated it with Gate Racer II that I happened to see in another thread. If anyone knows of a game that should be added then let me know and I will put it on this list. It looks like Frantic and Epic Adventure each plan to support it but not yet. Also let me know if something should be removed if it does not have AtariVox/SaveKey support.
  20. This seems like something to be worried about as more games are made that take advantage of the AtariVox/SaveKey. I would hate to write over my scores/settings as the a major point of these devices is to save the scores and/or settings. It seems like it would defeat the purpose. Is there a way (prior to writing to the scratchpad) to check if data (from another game) is already written? Something to think about.
