With better collision detection, and maybe a slower ramp in difficulty on the higher levels, this game would be pretty good.

I concur on all the buggyness of this game and poor collision detection (using real hardware), but in all I'm kinda enjoying it. Level 5 is indeed a bitch! Its nice to have some games that only take a few minutes though. 14,070

2600 Giant List Label, Manual, Box Variations Complete (sort of)

Wow! Nice list. -
Yup! I have one from "back in the day" when my brother and I (and friends) all played lots of Atari together. We used to have Football, Basketball, etc. tournaments. We had weekly schedules, playoffs, championships, lots of fun! I can't wait for internet based emulators and maybe stuff like that can happen here in the community with two-player games. For now the HSC is lots of fun, and I always try to at least beat my score as a kid (and my older brother's!)

HSC Season 5 Week 25: Communist Mutants from Space

A new best for me. I died on purpose because I didn't know if this one rolls at 100k. I'll try to find out before the week is done. 99,150 -

You snuck another game in there. ..Al Yeah, the Defender Arcade came on the same day. It was a good day. It is an awesome port; WAY better than the original 2600 Defender version. I'm surprised Atari didn't release it like this. The magnets are cool. I got 7 (of 7?) of them. Will there be 2600 JR versions next? A Gemini? The games are really fun. The community continues to amaze and impress me. I'm looking forward to a strong 2008. I still have dreams of eventually doing something myself, but I don't think anything like these titles. I might start out trying to port some Microvision titles. They might be fairly simple and a good place to start. Also, some would be fun little games that have no current equivalent on the 2600. Alien Raiders stands out as one of these for me right now.

Crap! I had no idea this game rolled at 100k, until after I rolled it. Couldn't get my camera in time as I was in the middle of a round, but took a shot after the round ended. You can see a duck eating my bullets while I'm snapping the pic. 105,930 Okay, I played it again, just to show I can roll it. I took a picture just prior to the 100k mark. Of course taking the picture cost me the game.

I just bid, and lost, on an item that I hadn't seen before for the Atari 2600. There is a green box in this lot that says "Video Game Program". Anybody know what this is? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=160205290422

Oooo, if you stop moving then they can't shake you off the rope?!? I gotta go play this one again. This should help A LOT! That is how I lose all my lives. The rope is soooo long and takes awhile to climb that a monster always seems to walk along and shake me off. Thanks!

Yikes!! Those are some amazing scores guys. I assume you were recording? Looks like someone is going to break 100k with this one. I'm getting a little better too, but not good enough yet. 59,300

My first submission, after many games. Fortunately this game isn't a big time consumer. Each game is pretty quick. Hard to get the hang of though. The monsters move faster than you can climb and they can shake you off the rope. They also seem to move randomly so its not like you can time anything either. 41,860

80,890 This will be a tough one for me to beat. I used the exact same strategy as aftermac mentioned. Looks like we died on the same screen too!

Great videos! Thanks for sharing.

Wow, I tried to play this game before reading any of the tips. Seems insanly difficult. The first bad guy whooped my butt easily. If you get in their range then its all over. I think a huge improvement to this game would be for the bad guys to have a slight pause between attacks just so you can catch your breath and get clear (maybe even get a shot in yourself). Anyway the tips and video helped a bunch. Don't think I would've broke a few thousand otherwise. My first submission: 26,950 Still with the tips I run out of time on Mission #2. How many green-ish men appear after you're done with the big guys? I finish off the first two and have got three more knife throwing ones beaten too, but then time is out.

Oh, a couple last minute tips too. Try playing games 2, 3, and 4. These start you at higher levels. It is a great way to practice them. This way you are not "blind-sided" when you finally advance there beginning from Level 1. I found just learning/memorizing the levels and doing them quickly is one of the best ways to score high points. Another tip (sorta) that worked for me was to push myself on every level to see if I could do it faster than previous attempts. I tracked this by writing down my best accumulative score after each level. Every time I played I always tried to beat this. It was a good motivator and maximized my points on the earlier (and therefore easier) levels. This is what I ended up with for the initial levels. 1: 2935 2: 7485 3: 13420 4: 20340 5: 28000 6: 36015 7: 44185 8: 53975 9: 64665 10: 76225 11: 87155 12: 100435 13: 112455 14: 121155 This was all done by not losing a life or not finishing and getting to do the level again. I never made it past level 15 without either of these happening so I did not put them up.

A hair better here too! Alas, not enough though. 151,560 I made it to Level 19, but couldn't get to the "Pro" levels (20+ according to the manual). Looking forward to next week's game and then on to all the suggestions people recently gave Ze_ro.
