  1. Arghhh!! The fast bouncing "X"-looking aliens on Level 18 killed three of my guys. 149,315
  2. Oh. I had fun anyway. However, I did notice an error in that list. The 2006 Holiday cart (Toyshop Trouble) is not a paddle game.
  3. Well, I went through my entire collection and tested all my carts. As I was doing this I made note of all the games that use the paddle controllers. I knew Atari/Sears made several paddle games, but didn't know how many others were out there. I count 39 below. I will update this when I go through my homebrews/repro collection. It would be cool if the AtariAge database had the controller type listed as a column on that page. Anyway here is what I found out. Atari/Sears Backgammon Blackjack (3-players simultaneous) Breakout/Breakaway IV (4-players) Canyon Bomber (4-players) Casino/Poker Plus (4-players simultaneous) Circus Atari/Circus Demons to Diamonds Night Driver Steeplechase (Sears-only) (4-players simultaneous) Street Racer/Speedway II (4-players simultaneous) Super Breakout Video Olympics/Pong Sports (4-players simultaneous) Warlords (4-players simultaneous) Activision Kaboom! Apollo Guardian Data Age Bugs Encounter at L-5 Warplock Imagic Solar Storm M-Network Astroblast (can use joystick, but paddle works better IMO) Parker Brothers G.I. Joe: Cobra Strick (3-players simultaneous, uses 1-joystick) Star Wars: Jedi Arena SEGA Tac-Scan Spectravideo Bumper Bash Starpath/Arcadia Fireball #3 (4-players) Party Mix #10 (4-players simultaneous) US Games Eggomania (4-players) Picnic Piece O' Cake
  4. Great score homer!! It will be tough for me to get that high. Looks like I moved into second for now though. 110,785
  5. Closer! 95,540 The hardest part for me right now is timing the HERO through the electric walls that continuously open and close and crush him. Alwyas lose a life on these screens.
  6. Please put me on the list. Hopefully, it will be sold at some point if I can't make the cut.
  7. I finally got some good game playing time in this morning. My score so far earned me the patch, but not much more right now. 78,995
  8. WOW!! What a find! Congrats on this one.
  9. Ha! That is funny. I guess you could port the Microvision games over EXACTLY by duplicating the 16x16 grid on the Atari (also use black squares on a grey background). That might be a good first step, but it would be nice to also have a follow-up version. This next version would retain the same gameplay, but could improve graphics and/or offer more game variations, etc. Also, I am not aware of any dumps of the Microvision games. I am pretty sure the already existing "ports" I mentioned earlier were not modeled after the Microvision games. I think a few of the Atari titles may even pre-date the Microvision versions. A dump of the original Microvision games might be a good way to start as well.
  10. Here is what seems to be a fairly simple idea for some Atari 2600 games. This is to port the Milton Bradley Microvision games over to Atari. I think most are already done (in some fashion or another), but a couple have no existing title that might be worthy to do. Maybe in a 2008 mini-game challenge? See below. Games that are more-or-less ported already. --------------------------------------------------- Block Buster = Breakout Phaser Strike = similar enough to Atlantis? Connect Four = Four Play Bowling = Bowling Baseball = Home Run (or any other baseball game) Vegas Slots = Slot Machine Super Block Buster = Super Breakout? Games with no current port (that I know of) -------------------------------------------------- Alien Raiders = none Sea Duel = none Cosmic Hunter = none Mind Buster = none Alien Raiders is not a bad little side shooter on the Microvision system. It could be done with a paddle controller (just like it is on the MV). The button shoots and the paddle extends or retracts the beam length so that it only destroys enemies that are the same distance away as the beam length. Sea Duel is a fairly fun little strategy game. The Joystick could be used to input directions of movement and firing. Select and difficulty switches to perform all the options. Cosmic Hunter is hard to control on the Microvision system, but would have better gameplay by using a joystick on the Atari. Mind Buster could be implemented via a Keyboard controller to toggle the locations on the grid. Anyway, just some thoughts. This is not something I am really pushing anyone to take on, but something to think about as a couple of these are already fun on the MV and could probably be made even more so on the 2600 with its vastly superior graphics.
  11. I'll send you a list. I just finished going through all my CIB games (not quite 500) to test them all. I only found one DOA cart. It was in my NIB Dice Puzzle (yes I opened it). Arghhh! Now I will have to find a loose one somewhere. The only NIB game I didn't open was my GLIB. How much value is lost for GLIB going from NIB to CIB? There are a number of homebrews that are really fun too. Also, one more note. I am assuming all the Olympic-type games are off the table due to the upcoming Atari Olympics anyway.
  12. The box is one of mine , but the cart was made by Shawn Sr. Its a fairly fun game too. We played it recently in the HSC.
  13. Wow, that is a great buy. Wish I had seen it as I only "need" three 7800 games: Tank Command, Titlematch Pro Wrestling, and Santa Simon.
  14. I saw this one and put a bid in for it. Couldn't hang around for the end though as I had stuff to do today. Anyone know what it is. I have the keyboard, but how is a cassette program loaded into it? Supercharger?
  15. Awesome, way to go 'teach! Still one more day to go for others to roll this one. Then its on to a new game.
  16. Thanks for sharing! What a nice collection of Atari boxes. I see you have some box variations too.
  17. Hooray! I just rolled it!! I started playing with two players to keep the action going. I actually rolled it with both players. Player 1: 10,057 Player 2: 10,016 You can tell this is rolled because the balloon pattern shown would be impossible to have with a score of only 57 or 16. Here is a screen shot of Player 2 just before rolling it.
  18. IMO This game is great classic! My fisrt submission for the week. 8,806 I can't think of many tips as the gameplay is so simple, but very fun nonetheless. Keep bouncing the man up and don't let him go splat! However, I do have one suggestion that is tip worthy. TIP: If you clear a row of red balloons then you get to reply the guy you are on after he goes splat (essentially a free life). After doing this then do not fully clear another red row while you still have your bonus reserve guy. Leave only a few reds left (preferably 1) and then crash on purpose. Your next guy will only have to pop the one (or very few) reds to get the bonus life again. With this method you can stay on the same life for quite a while. However, I understand all too well that this is one of those "zone" games. It is hard to make yourself crash if all is going well, but this perpetual life trick is worth a try.

    Atlantis II

Yup, same here. During the Atlantis HSC week I could get several million points in Atlantis. However, my top in Atlantis II was a mere 559. The game play starts MUCH harder/faster and then keeps increasing to insane speeds.
  20. Not my strongest game, but I did get... 71,500
  21. Hi Ze_ro, I just wanted to make sure I get this comment out there again. I think the "current standings" should have myself, hommerwannabe, and Deteacher in a threeway tie for first (at least when points are awarded). It's an assumption we've been playing with for the week. There are earlier threads with a little more discussion. Thanks! I'm excited to see what's coming up for the new week.
  22. Yeah, I think that is the hardest level too. I called it the green asteroid level. I think it is the sixth in the cycle of eight. I found that the key is patience. It doesn't even really matter if the commuters start to dissappear. Sure you'll not get the double bonus, but if you're alive then you can keep earning points anyway. I found if you are patient and careful then you really can just keep advancing without losing lives and racking up the points. After a while you get to know each wave intimately and can always get the bonus too.
