  1. That's right! I got a Kabobber from you too (and Thwocker)! That is the one I have put in my "CIB" set, but the other cart is nice as well. Each works great.
  2. I am hoping it is not too bad either. As for the Quadrun, I am trying to restore the box somewhat. I've placed cardboard inserts on the inside (perfectly fitted) to un-bend it a bit. Its working a little, but of course the box was bad off to begin with. If I remember, I'll post some "after" pics in a few months. Not too sure about the whole ironing thing. Maybe I'll test it out on a smooshed Space Invaders or Combat box before going at it on a Quadrun.
  3. Somehow I ended up with two Kabobber reproduction carts (I think both from Shawn Sr.). So, in the process of making boxes (for games that never had boxes) I decided to make two. I also printed two manuals as well. The manual illustrations, text and everything were by Dave Giarrusso and is the same as is found in the Atari Age guide. This was also the artwork used for the box. I tried to make the box like the old-style Activision boxes. Pics of the set are below (front and back). I have also included one of my very own designed cartridge holders. I have found this is simple and practical for games/boxes that have no way of holding the cart in place. This will make the cart stand front and center just like it should instead of flopping all around. I will be taking offers through Friday (11/9/07) then I could ship it out to the winner Saturday. So, PM me if you are interested!
  4. Well I got 'em both! I've dealt with this seller in the past and have had really good experiences. I didn't have either of these games so I'm looking forward to getting them.
  5. Hmmm...maybe, but do other Atari branded heavies have the extra Sears sticker on them? All of the Atari ones I've seen don't have the little sticker about servicing at Sears on them. However, all of the Sears units have this. Could be legit.
  6. My new best is... 75,600 I have another tip as weel (don't know if it has been mentioned or not yet). TIP: Don't try to knife the killer. It doesn't seem like it is worthwhile (score-wise) eventhough it may feel satisfying. I see three reasons: it seems harder to do than saving children, it is worth less points than saving children, and it advances the level quicker (two kills vs. 5 saves). Therefore, you will end up at harder levels with a lower score. I gave up knifing early on; bad habit anyway.
  7. BUMP The auctions I have up are ending today.
  8. I have some updates to make for my systems. I sold two on eBay during this last summer (2007), one Atari and one Sears. These were the later model number ones I had. The Atari unit sold was number #28204F and the Sears unit sold was number #54035V. I also got two new ones. One is a Sears and the other is an Atari. The Sears one is interesting because the main sticker with the serial number on it doesn't say it was made for Sears however it does have the other sticker about servicing at Sears on it. Did the early Sears heavies simply use the default Atari sticker? Its Serial number is 53705F Pictures are below. The Atari unit doesn't work. Its serial number is 13748H.
  9. You'll love it. That is where I got mine from as well. I got a black vader version. They have great customer service too.
  10. Got over 50k! The game is hard if you are stuck with the situation where there are no kids on the first level and you have to go through the blackout rooms to get to another one. Michael can pop out in the dark and cut your head clean off, before the lights come back on. Sometimes even if you're in the middle of the room. This is how I met my tragic demise. 58,725
  11. Okay, here is my first submission. 28,350
  12. This is the coolest thing I've seen in a while!! How did you make the Joysticks? I would like to have a pair like that too! Nevermind, I just saw you have some links I'll have to examine.
  13. I played it a little bit tonight, and broke 10k (eventually). I'll post a pic later. However, I have some really good tips that helped me! TIPS: #1: When you are on a screen with a child and the killer appears, the killer always seems to go for the kid first. So you can hover over the kid (with the babysitter as high up as possible). This will allow you time to grab the kid without fear of being killed. #2: Another thing to remember is that there is no timer. Even though it feels frantic trying to save the helpless innocent little children just play it cool and safe. Backtrack if you have to.
  14. I know I am amazed at the awesome homebrews that have been made. More recent one's that stand out for me and I can lose track of time when playing are.. Lady Bug Fall Down Toyshop Trouble Medival Mayhem Go Fish I own about all the homebrews that have come out over the last two years (when I began collecting), nearly all are pretty good and some are simply amazing works of art!
  15. Heck yeah!! Fall Down is awesome. I literally played it like 4 hours one night and then the next night my wife and I went head-to-head. She had lots of fun and isn't even a big Atari fan (almost born in the 80's). I'd also have to agree on Indy 500. I am still dreaming of someone porting it to the Atari 400/800 where maybe 4 driving controllers could be used for intense 4-player action (See my RealSports Racing thread).
  16. I've topped out at: 37,250 Excited for next weeks game. Will it be a Halloween themed game? Haunted House, Halloween, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Ghost Manor, etc. On that line, I hope someone has suggested Toyshop Trouble to happen around Christmas time. That game rocks!! Original idea, fun and challenging gameplay, nice graphics. I have really been impressed by some of the homebrew games people have made. Of course, Gopher on Groundhog's Day, Wabbit on Easter,
  17. I have a boxed Spy Hunter, a very nice complete gatefold set, and some rare-ish loose titles. Thank you very much for looking! http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZtoymailman
  18. I had never played this game before (any version of it). Pretty fun and challenging. The blue chomper enemies seem fast even on the first screen. I got in a good hour yesterday evening and... 24,700
  19. You do realize that a Quadrun boxed in good condition typically goes for $600-$700. In my opinion the buyer got a deal. It only went for $310 plus $6.00 shipping. As I was the buyer, that was exactly my thoughts. Mint cart and manuals for Quadrun typically go for ~$300. So I figured I got a free banged up box. If there are lots of them found down there then I can upgrade later and sell the extra stuff to recoup some losses. However, if there is no stash found then I am a really happy camper!
  20. Yes, I would agree that at the start of level 8 there is still a slight delay and is the only reason I could progress past the first few towns. However, at one point the delay is virtually (maybe all the way) gone. When I got my scores over $70k as soon as I touched a bank a cop came out and I was busted. No amount of reflexes would've saved me. *sigh* When I got my score of $78k I really did try to maximize my points in all the previous towns. Getting as many banks as possible before running out of fuel, blowing up cops at the 50 (sometimes 30) point level, and never missing a bonus. I would be extremely surprised if someone could get deep into the $80k range. Yeah, now that I read my tip again, it didn't come out right. What I meant is don't leave a town until at least 9 banks are robbed. The main thing is to keep getting the bonus as that is where the big points are, especially in the later levels. I also agree that sticking around until your car flashes is something to do as well. Might as well get as many points as possible if you have the fuel to do it! I also agree that this game was made very well. It is TONS of fun to play! The only change I would've made is to never decrease that delay so close to zero (maybe its even set to exactly zero) seconds. It seems that the delay should only go so far as to give your car a chance to get away. The difficulty could still be increased in subsequent towns by increasing the cop speed (harder to get away, but at least you had a slight head start). Maybe even continually increasing both cop and robber speed so the players reflexes are tested further when trying to navigate a super-fast car (with the cops slightly faster than that!). Right now it seems the delay portion of the difficulty overshadows the other difficulty aspects when you get to the "final" town.
  21. I would like to echo those thoughts too. You do a great job Ze_ro, and I look forward to the new game of each week. I played this one again a few more times trying to maximize my score every level and not missing a single bonus. $78,228 TIP: ** That is also my tip too. Never miss a bonus. Only leave a level once 9 banks are robbed. Not only does this get you a bonus car (if needed) but you are given the bonus points. On the higher levels this can be several thousand additional points. It is way more than sticking around to blast more cops or trying to get more banks. ** I can honestly say I think $100k is impossible. I would guess a perfect score before the cops become too fast and the delay is gone would be a little over $80k.
  22. Thanks 'teach, I will try it. Also, when I read the manual it seems to imply that there are only 8 levels to this game. It is in the section talking about the bonus points. I wonder what happens after level 8. Does it stay on level 8, revert back to level 1, end? I was on level 8 when I got my high scores. The end screen toggles between your score and FoxGamesX, where X is the level you died on.
  23. I got to a point where the delay is completely gone. I used up all my cars on the previous level just to get by it, then I had nothing left. This level truly seems impossible to get by. $71,428
