Just scored a little Mr Do action

Second question. This was sold to me as an original and not jamma. Could anyone ID this connector? (attached) The game has copyright Taito on thes screen but I'm not sure how much weight you can place on that. The board is huge, bigger than a computer's mobo. [ edit ] MRD-1102 I guess indicates it's probably the real - second revision? (Additional edit) I purchased the Asteroids high score save kit from these guys http://www.arcadeshop.com/parts.htm#HSS sometime ago and they're legit. Would their advertised Mr Do to jamma as shown below allow me to add any jamma game? http://www.arcadeshop.com/pics/mr-do-jamma-adpt-amp.jpg I'm thinking sometime down the road I may wish to whack in a Donkey kong - could this be vertually plug n play? Any other pics or info you need just ask. Many thanks for any help. -
Mini-cab (not cabaret). It was advertised as having a dodgy monitor and no manual. I bought it with the intention of whacking in a Donkey Kong board and maybe a new monitor. The keys for the back were hanging in the coin door (woot!) and I actually found the documention inside. A quick trip around the rgb/brightness/focus etc pots and I also moved the v raster jumper from middle to D (three pins) which almost centered the screen perfectly. and I have a near-perfect working machine - no burn in either. Frankly I'd give this one a 7.5 out of 10 and with the new lick of black paint I've put on the (working) coin mechs it's an 8. Only issue left is minor - the coin mechs work but don't light up. Simple, things me, I'll whack in new bulbs great... it takes 44/47s which I have in abundance... except - check out the pic. Notice anything. Where's the wiring? Lol. So first question for the pros. Do you think it'd be okay to splice into the wiring after the molex connector and hook it up straight to the bulbs? Would I need to add any resitance. I guess I could just go ahead and try it for the hell of it. What's the worst thing that could happen eh? [edit] Nahh - all did was give a credit on startup. Tried new bulbs, even tried connecting the spades directly to the bulb. I guess, if I'd have thought about it, that wiring set up SHOULD give a credit as it's completing the circuit. Have to find alterative power.

Looks like the guy must've used as parts as he's also selling a near complete PP too.

Stock stuffer for the collector...

Ahh didn't know they'd been talked out before. They're available now. It's true they're not playable but they do move and the ship fires etc (probably in a game & watch style of preset LCD positions). There is a prototype pong watch which does work - (video cleans up shortly after starting). Read more here Given the size of LCD phone screens it's only a matter of time before a real version appears. But for 50 bucks I think the asteroids watch is fairly awesome. -
Get your friend/colleague/spouse an Asteroids Watch! They also have a Centipede watch too...

Chuckie Egg was close I think. It had 8 levels from memory, maybe more, and was available on all home comp platforms in the early 80s - even the dragon 32 (which is what I had at the time). It was the closest thing to DK without being DK at the time.

I didn't read about your family's terrible misfortune in the previous thread Iggy - humble condolences. I live in Oxford, PA about 35 miles from Baltimore (and Philly) if you ever need a truck to pick up stuff or simply fancy a quick beer give me shout.

What do you guys make of this (Golden tee)
arcadebasement replied to arcadebasement's topic in Arcade and Pinball
Here's some reviews for the Radica version. One course, no control, top down view during play? Oh dear. http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html?_enco...asin=B000EYF7YQ -
Radica have released a home version of golden tee but by all accounts is bloody awful. http://www.radicagames.com/playtv-golden-tee-golf.php And so Big Electronic Games are release a 'fulllsized' Club House edition. http://www.mybiggames.com/golden_tee.html I hope it's not like those terrible 12 in 1 midway boxes that you assemble at home... but for $699 for the 20" version of GT it's not a bad price. Be interested to hear from anyone who sees and plays it in the flesh.

What did classic arcade machines cost new?
arcadebasement replied to Bill Brasky's topic in Arcade and Pinball
In the UK in 1982 the Royal Mint actually introduced a completely new coin for arcades - the 20 pence piece. There was no coin between 10p and 50p and it was felt that people wouldn't pay 50p for arcade games (yet). So out came the 20 and all of a sudden lots of games were 20p. Later on, when people began accepting that paying 50p per game was normal, the mint stopped producing the pound note replacing that with a coin and as if by magic the more popular games (and pool tables and slot machine 'fruities') jumped from 50p to a quid. There's now a two pound coin too! It's hard to imagine any industry these days having such a dominating force on the format that money is made for an entire country. 20p coin Pound coin Two pound coin -

In the early 80s (in the UK) I was looking to buy a used Space invaders cab. From memory, I could've got one for £800, with the new price being around 3 grand. A search on google's groups from 1981 to 1983 reveals that the arcade game Dragon's Lair cost $4K so the figures from memory seem about right (electronics often go dollar for pound, so you can ignore the US/UK exchange rate in this case). So I would say the costs are more or less the same as today for the same games. Anything up to a grand for used and 3-4 grand for new. -
The Great Galaga Multi-Cade Project

I was going to ask about that in the other thread - I was thinking your Class of 81 had two joysticks (which obviously mine does not) and it caught my eye. Then I saw this thread. -
I was having a quick weekend with the mrs in Cape May NJ last weekend and it was close to that scene in Tron! Could've been the rain but it was packed with folks playing everything there - People were even... waiting... to go on cybercycles or whatever it was. Almost old school!

Thanks - yeah I think we were crossing over each other there. I'm fascinated to see other folks' "McDonalds ballpits", hence the thread - especially having seen that stunning place that Bill Brasky linked to a few days ago. It'd take some doing to top that place. -

Thanks! Here's another shot. I'm having an ale or two in a bit so happy to grab any other pics or info that anyone wants. Your place looks awesome. I love the wood and am envious as to how much room you have at the back there for those cabs! Love it. -

One of the pachislos with 7" fmv screen. The other one is the original IGT Terminator (got it before the Arnie successfully sued to have his likeness removed from them). -
