  1. For people who are trying to use TOS 1.0 with hard disks, here's an excerpt from another of Jookie's project (Cosmos Ex): Full text at http://joo.kie.sk/cosmosex/download/ce_basics.pdf Generally, this is the common wisdom when it comes to Atari ST and hard disks: upgrade TOS, add more RAM if possible. Perhaps nothing will happen and your system will be stable. But you might hit upon "catastrophic" issues like the 40 folder bug (https://temlib.org/AtariForumWiki/index.php/TOS_2.06_bugs,_fixes,_limitations,_workarounds_and_enhancements#The_40_folder_bug) which doesn't sound very pleasant!
  2. Try replacing "./build" with "build.bat", that file seems to be Linux oriented as it is
  3. Speaking about the Bitmaps, some other obvious ones: Xenon 2: Megablast used a sample from Bomb The Bass' song: And Magic pockets contained samples from Betty Boo's "Doin' the do": From what I recall, they had a partnership with Rhythm King records, so they could use their catalog of songs.
  4. I have hinted of this in another thread, but I thought I'd make a separate topic to raise awareness. So: this is a continuation of an earlier plugin for Total Commander ("Total Commander .ST/.MSA packer plugin v0.03"), but it has been extended to allow writes to images, as well as AHDI style partitions (again read/write). You can check out the project page for more information about what is supported: https://github.com/ggnkua/Jacknife/ Also, the past few days work has started on a command line version tool using the same codebase. This is very WIP but still has the base functionality implemented (although lots of checks are missing). If you want to perform lots of ST disk image handling, it is worthwhile to check this out!
  5. If you run into any sort of incompatibility (because there are at least 2 versions of the MOD format, and your player might not support one or the other), you can also try https://openmpt.org (Windows only) which should handle pretty much everything.
  6. Oh boy, this thread is opening a huge can o' worms! Basically https://sndh.atari.org is your friend for finding out covers and music inspired from other media. As an example I typed "Zoolook" (as I saw the youtube link at the top of this page) into the search box and got 5 results: https://sndh.atari.org/?p=searchdone. Also, Demozoo is a great resource for this, as they are tagging 'sampledemo' with all the releases that have directly sampled music: https://demozoo.org/productions/tagged/sampledemo/ Just for funzies, I'll toss in a couple of my productions: Baby, Instant Soup Doesn't Really Grab Me (https://demozoo.org/productions/131289/) features Dmitri Shostakovich's Waltz No. 2 (with some artistic manipulation by myself): Sweetness follows (https://demozoo.org/productions/148710/) features 'Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy' by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, arranged by Kevin MacLeod (https://incompetech.com/music/royalty-free/index.html?isrc=USUAN1100625). That's all for now, I wish everyone fun in discovering new and bizarre samplings!
  7. Very cool, hope to be able to play it soon! And of course: if you have any questions about the platform, do not hesitate to ask!
  8. Thanks for all the comments! A bug fixed version has just been released: http://d-bug.me/releases/ADAM_PARTY_101.ZIP - it addresses a gameplay bug in the later levels. Apologies for this, and hope you enjoy the game!
  9. If you can get the PC drive to format a FAT12 720k disk, the ST will very likely read it. So try doing that and then copy the files from your PC to the floppy.
  10. You can get a few ST CDROMs here: https://ftp.untergrund.net/users/ltk_tscc/cd_roms/
  11. Here's how I did something similar using FujiNet, but same principles should apply for Respectqt: - Drive ID 1: FujiNet, floppy image with the copier program - Drive ID 2: FujiNet, source image - Drive ID 3: XF551, actual DD disk mounted Once that is set up, boot the Atari into the copier program (I can't remember which one I used, it simply had to support 4 drives and DD), copy disk 2 into disk 3. I'm sure there are many other variations of this but this was the most hassle free that I could think of (for example: this could have been possible to do with 2 drives, butI'm terrible at remembering which magic buttons to press to switch disk images!)
  12. This is awesome, thank you very much @t0ri for this and all your hard work with the other adapters as well! Do we know of anyone who is willing to produce and sell this? (To be clear: I know that t0ri's site mentions that commercial use is prohibited, I'm just thinking more like someone making a small batch of this as a service to the community)
  13. Releasing a game and making sure it works on other machines than the ones you own involves so much work alone, aiming for 100% compatibility with everyone's setups can just drive people to madness. Another vote from me for @Zolaerla to a) do whatever feels fun personally, b) to get some stuff done and released. If they're good and people think that it's worth their time and something doesn't work, they can complain. And then any problems can be fixed. Just as long as we're all having fun - that's the main ingredient!
  14. Oh my goodness, I was concerned! And did something about it, thanks!
  15. Very nice! Also interesting to see that the rock falling algorithm is quite different than Boulderdash.
  16. There shouldn't be any major differences between the three devices, all of them act as an interface between the ST and the physical media. That said, Ultrasatan is probably the fastest of them in terms of throughput (at least that was the case last time I checked) and has battery backed RTC (but then again probably so do the others).
  17. Shadow World Claim Jumper Chop Suey Timeslip Trailblazer
  18. Definitely not the case on a Native Win10 setup: Just download the source archive, put mads.exe somewhere in your PATH (I used c:\windows because why not), build "release x86" and after 57 seconds I had a binary. EZ. Props to @phaeron of course, building Altirra used to be a tad more involved because of the external dependencies required, now it's much more streamlined for everyone. (especially since I was looking at the output window and saw what was being built - which is pretty much everything including the kitchen sink).
  19. If you can make a sector image of the disk (using something like HxD https://mh-nexus.de/en/hxd/), I have made a plugin for Total Commander that does its best to interact with AHDI style partitions: https://github.com/ggnkua/Jacknife I would suggest to make a sector image of the disk first anyway just to be on the safe side, and then try to work on the image.
  20. That's purely a matter of preference. Distributing binaries with the source gives people the chance to try things out without having to install and configure the 5000 tools the repository needs. So personally I do add binaries to my repositories and also make releases when/if needed.

  22. Good initiative! Perhaps you should post this into the main forum and not "programming" so you get some more traction. It's also weird that the disk boots into the "Hibernated" intro, perhaps you meant to remove this?
  23. Here's the release info for this by the way: https://demozoo.org/graphics/165150/
  24. The centuriontech store stocks what he calls a "goex" which is a gotek with a front panel that matches the Atari ST case, which might be nicer than all the franken gotek solutions that require you to hacksaw the case.
