Game Over I/II?
-
http://www.dbug-automation.co.uk/falcon.htm Link says it all really. Enjoy
-
Yeah, the pricing seems like a real show stopper to eu people. Luckily I got mine for only 25 eur at last year's paracon
-
Epic? (btw, was that a 3D game?)
-
Hmm, I think that early versions of TOS occupy something like ~100kb. Maybe you're confusing it with the amiga? Nope AFAIK the Beta TOS was around 192kb. I know TOS 1.0 is that much. Even at 100k that would leave 156k left of RAM... I highly doubt the buggy beta TOS was 100k! ...which loaded from disk (I forgot about that!). See? I thought that the amiga was involved in all this! (workbench loading form disk anyone? )

No and there's no point really... You only get about 128k of storage space. Maybe you can get more by using bank switching (I think? ). The only thing that a game would benefit from being a cart game would be to cut down on loading times. And TBH, now that I have a Faclon with a huge hard disk and since I patch games for hd and falcon (and more ), my loading times are close to zero OTOH if someone made a cart of let's say all the 4k/512b/128b demos out there it would be neat

Homebrew scene? You mean some guys sitting down and combining code, gfx and music to produce something? In that case the ST "homebrew scene" has been (mostly) the only source of getting new software/games/etc. for this platform for abuot 10 years now. It's far more different than the VCS or Jaguar scene because people do not charge ridiculous prices (or prices in gerenal) for the s/w they release, because you can use the floppy disk as a medium of transferring stuff to the ST. There are very few people that charge for some applications they write. Personally I don't expect to pay for a new ST game or whatever (don't care about packaging too), and profit has never been in my mind when I did anything for my Ataris.

Well, you could just have mentioned the name "Assembly line" and get it over with Drool, drool. Looks awesome! Could mr Beveridge finish it maybe?
-
First, you could take a look at this thread: http://www.dbug-automation.co.uk/forum/cgi...?num=1172440904 Secondly, I don't think that using carts is the way to go for the thing you're trying to do. What you need (imho) is: a) A debugger, b) A disassembler, c) An assembler. So, you might wanna do your hacking like this a) Load the game in a debugger and start tracing b) Disassemble the code c) Load the code in an assembler, alter it, asseble it and off you go

I could play Dynablasters mutliplayer much better using the keyboard on ST than using a joystick, so I dunno what you mean
-
Yeah, like, I wanted to play Turrican II but had no joysticks... oh, wait, I forget, your joystick ports don't work.... Did you try my suggestions posted in another thread about it?

Any games done better on the ST than the Amiga?
ggn replied to courtesi's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
Don't start talking about demos. Demos are mostly cheating . When it comes to real-world examples a game should be considered as best example. The Copper chip might be used for other purposes in a game other than setting the blitter up. No doubt the amiga is a nice piece of hardware (and being raised with an 800xl I find its architecture attractive), but like amiga coders that did shabby st conversions because the couldn't master the st hardware as far as arcade style games go, the same can be said about coders that did an amiga port of a 3d game regarding hardware tricks -
That's soooooooooooo PC anyway
-
Sure you can! just get a male-female rca cable (or build one yourself) and tune your tv to channel 36 (iirc, just have your tv search for the channel while the machine is on).
-
Of course! also look here for more compatible sticks
-
I think this should help

Wanted STE Green LED piece from top case
ggn replied to tjlazer's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
Why not getting one of these instead? -
I use Turbo assembler, Bugaboo and Steem Engine mostly
-
Well, it sounds like a nice utility, but tbh what I can't run on my hdds I just patch
-
I can truly sympathise with that, being in that situation for all my life up until 2 years ago... The thing is that there's a controller in there, and I dunno how cheap it can be bought. Perhaps if the order is big enough there'd be a discount. Anyhow, I'll put you down for 1 'maybe'
-
Hmmm Well, for high resolution games you mostly need a high resolution monitor or with a proper cable, any vga monitor. But with a colour monitor/tv you can't play those. Now, if you have problems with the colour games, just ask away, I have a mste here and will try to test them as you mention them
-
Can you name a few?
-
Thanks Chris besides that list, if you can sacrifice the "not hd instalable game" requirement you can boot off disks most of the st/e games
