Can you do some memory saves and post them here? (it's accessible from the 'memory' options) Erm... you realise that what I PMed isn't a disk image, and you have to set up a GEMDOS drive, right? If not, head to the 'disk' submenu Would you be so kind as to post these cart images here so I can have a look?

Well, the only TT that is usable atm is the one staying at my parents home. Attached to a TT hirez monitor which is not the ideal monitor for gaming. And the Commodore 1084 just has a cable for ST use. Add that I'm no gamer, have not much time when I'm at home, am not much at home, have no Ataris apart from a stock Falcon at my girlfriends place, and you can see why I did not try them up to now. These are all valid points Anyone else with a TT could try some stuff?
-
Jens, there is a reason why I asked if anyone tried the games from the 7 days on the TT, especially mine. It's because I actually have some TT setup code in there, I just don't know if it's effective or not
-
Coding is fun, no doubt about it! But personally, doing a conversion of something I don't like wouldn't bring good results . My point was that to finish such a project it will require very dedicated and motivated people to work at it for months and for no reward other than they did it.

Well, let's see what's in my WIP folder as well (please note that CJ's and my list below is the games _not working_. We have quite some games prepared for release): Eliminator - Aaargh! My first disappointment with the IKBD. This refuses to work at 16mhz and/or cache Ghouls n ghosts - Some minor problems (not had time to investigate) Helter Skelter - Dreaded IKBD probs Hotshot - Probably IKBD Switchblade - IKBD Super Skweek - dies after you complete any level (aarrgh!) Xenon - IKBD Star trash - Crashes for no apparent reason Joust - Uses some system calls (needs more work) Bubble Bobble - IKBD (that almost made me bang my head in a wall - literally) Rainbow islands - crashes at some point before it even begins There might be a few more, but I can't remember right now

The real question in my head is: why? I think it is possible, but I dunno what speeds we can achieve and how good the result would be. Such a project is big and requires the attention of lots of people dedicated to completing it (just making a isometric engine in a week doesn't mean that the game is complete). Musicians and artists and level designers are required, plus coders worth their salt. So yeah, it's possible, but who will take on the task? (besides, personally I think that diablo sucks!)

Well, dunno for the other emulators, but hatari actually has a user mailing list and also a bug reporter. You can subscribe to the user mailing list here: http://sourceforge.net/mail/?group_id=28326 The bug tracker is here: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=2...amp;atid=393019 Before reporting any issue to any developer though please check and double check what you do. Try downloading again the images you want to use, if possible from different sources and try different TOS versions, memory configurations (lots of games/menus break with 4Mb RAM). Then ask forums like these to ask for guidance from other people. Then if noone can help then contact the authors for help. I'll try Chaos Engine on latest CVS version of hatari myself, and if you'll post here the images of the carts I'll try them as well. [EDIT]: just tried THe d-bug version with hatari cvs, tos 1.62uk and 1 meg of memory. It works perfectly. Try downloading another copy. George

Rick (and all), Like I said in the past, only two (2!) people are working at the moment on patching the games for Falcon. Namely me and CJ. Now, given that we both don't do it for the fame (fortune? hehe! anyone considering a donation? ), we are trying to patch stuff that we liked in the past and played to destruction. As you understand we both are avid players, and not doing it for the preservation or because they're rare versions or something. Simply we want to have these games on our HDDs instead of floppies and runnable with a simple double click (no weird utilities that demand floppies or stuff like that). Another fact: CJ usually doesn't do requests, so it's usually up to me. Like CJ, I have my personal favorites that want to patch up. In between I try to fulfill some requests, but you must understand that this takes time. Couple that with the fact that a game might work in under 10', and then it can take a full week of frustration with no result. The second case is, as you can imagine, pretty hard on us and when it happens we lose some of our motivation. So until we get back our momentum some time passes as well. Also, take into account that we simply don't have all day playing with our falcons (unless you guys want to sponsor us? ) So all, please be patient. We intend to patch up lots of games still. We have many WIP folders on our HDDs or frozen titles we haven't managed to patch correctly. We intend to do a page to display the status of the WIP titles too, so you'll have a fuller image of what's going under the hood of D-Bug. Also, anyone with good asm knowledge interested in helping us can always contact us and we'll do our best to help him (her?) and offer our little experience. Yours, George and the rest of the D-BUG stuff

Rick, hmm, strange. I'll have a go on my brand new mste in later and will test what happens. [EDIT]: I just ran in it on my mste, gave no issues at all. Try again and tell us what happens Off topic: My mste is a German model. Currently I use a TV to get a display. My old UK STE uses uhf channel 36 (or so) to display pic, but the mste seems to use some weird band and I get lots of interference from other channels. Is there any way to change the modulator to point to another frequency? George

Well, you can always ask google Anyway, Damocles is the 2nd installment in the Mercenary series (there was Mercenary, Damocles and Mercenary 3). From what I remember, cursor keys up and down pick up and drop items, 'b' boards a ship/automobile/etc, 'l' leaves it. While on a ship 0-9 selects speeds, as well as +/-. HTH George

Oops, double post

Well we are doing some maintenance work. Don't worry, we'll be back with you in a few days with even more stuff In the meantime, if you guys need anything from the site, ask us

Anyone have a well-rounded PaCifiST installation?
ggn replied to Evil Plant's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
Well tbh when I switched to my athlon 1800+ xp, and changed my sound card to a sb live, pacifist kept dying at startup or at random points. I think it might be due to overspeed. It's true that pacifist's emulation speed is far greater than steem's or saint's, but it's far far incomplete. You need a decent vbe 2.0 vga card (modern cards claim to be vbe 3 and they're not too compatible) to be able to play games with raster spilts at all. And there are lots of games that use raster splits. And they're not emulated good in pacifist. If you still insist then I wish you good luck! Oh, before I forget it, look around for another dos emulator called Echo. Much better than pacifist, but that's been shelved for years now. -
Oops, double post, ignore this...

Well, that's all heartwarming and stuff, but, well, you know, when you look at it realistically, the amiga was just considered a games machine. I'd say that 80-90% of people thought so. So not many apps as the ST market had. And when game companies saw that people are stupid enough to pay a bit more to get a more powerful computer (yeah right, my 16 year old ste is far more reliable than this laptop I'm currently typing), then they abandoned the st/ami games market altogether. In my eyes you fell into the "it's easy to upgrade a pc" trap. Even in nowdays it isn't. Ok, so maybe back then hw didn't have much difference between them and you could barely get away with that (of course, memories of DOS games having support for tens of VGA cards come to mind ). So in essence, Atari and Commodore's fault was that instead of making crap cards with shitty drivers that only ran a fraction of the sw, led to incompatibilities, etc. they instead chose to deliver full computer solutions, as tried and tested as possible. So what if it doesn't run right now? When the sw and drivers get upgraded it will! BTW: upgrade the amiga sound? What was the problem with that? It still sounds great. Oh, you want 16-bit sounds? Yeah, then of course you can plug in a crappy incompatible card in your PC, no denying that. Do I sound grumpy? I used my STE all the time during university (even doing reports with that or using euler instead of matlab to produce graphs). I only borrowed a PC to write my thesis because they wanted it in m$ word format. DOS? Sophisticated? Sorry, but to tell you the truth I nearly wet my pants from laughing here. Anyway, rambling off for me (don't think most people will share my views anyway)

What? You actually mean... you... don't... already... have... all... D-Bug.... menus...???? Well, we are in the middle of changing web hosts, a couple of days' patience please! If you like any specific menus I can post/email them

This reminds me, have you tried grabbing the d-bug version of ultima 6, installing it to floppies and then copying them to hdd? I think it should work out of the box. As a matter of fact I'll try it right now EDIT just tried the d-bug version on my falcon and it seems to work a-ok

Well, if you see the methods we use to have Greek in our machines, you wouldn't be surprised Well, at least I did my bit and typed down some games, where's your excuse? Post your lists people
-
Sad but true, I don't have a digital camera atm :/
-
Why wasn't there an internal hard drive as standard on ST/Amigas? Why no VGA output? Why no PCMCIA? Why no true SCSI devices? Why no laser printer support out of the box? Why not Greek support out of the box? Why do the joystick ports reside on a weird place on ST? Why using the same case for Falcon? You got me, I can't answer any of these, including yours! Most probably economic issues though

Can't Remember ST Game? Ask The Experts!

According to its creator, Manfrend Trenz, the conversion would have sucked -
Just one: RTFM Spin has a nice setup guide Where can I download this SPIN and the setup guide? I don't want to spend any money as there is no guarantee I can get my CD-ROM drive working, and I really do not need it that bad to spend hoards of cash! Happy New Year!!!! I think you haven't been using your google powers enough http://uml.darkspace.org.uk/mirrors/Atari/System/ And happy new year to you and all
