OK, I downloaded the Falcon/mSTe fix games and tried them out. All of them were placed inside a directory on an HD partition.
That's our plan - have a large folder with games ready to run

Hades - OK with/without 16Mhz or cache. No sound through Falcon (except for intro screen), sound through headphones is music only (?)
Funny, I thought sound worked on both my falcons... I'll try to have a look later...
Live or Let Die - can only start game (via fire button) with 16mhz&cache
Hmmm, I'll try to look at that too...
R-type - OK
Virus - OK
Backlash - OK
RVF Honda - OK
Starglider II - OK No sound through Falcon (except for intro screen and digi music), sound through headphones.
Vaxine - OK
Good work! Starglider II is especially cool at 16Mhz!
I have a request for some of the Microprose sims if you get around to it - F19/M1 Tank Platoon/B17 Flying Fortress

Glad you enjoy them! Eventually we'll get round to those you request!

You are welcome. I love what you are doing, but I've also found that a lot of games on your menu CD's that have been made into files will also work on a Mega/STE in 16mhz! Like Vroom!/F1GP and No Second Place (NSF) and Outrun and many many more. I just try everything to see if I can load it from my desktop in 16mhz mode. The games that make the best use of the increased speed are polygonal games that aquire much faster and smoother frame rates. Many will work in 16mhz now, but many won't. Even though you said you weren't taking suggestions yet, I just want to make a general suggestion that you get as many polygon games and sims running on 16mhz Mste's and Falcons as possible. Like F-16 and EPIC and 'Reach for the Skies' and MidWinter just to name a few.
Well making them run is only a part of the equation. Our aim is to make games run with all possible speed increases and to be hard drive installable. Otherwise it'd be much easier (yes, we do like to make it hard for ourselves

I'd have to say get both too, especially if you were willing to pay $850 for just one, you can both for less! But Falcon games are very cool, and more and more ST/STE games are being made Hd compatible and compatible with the Falcon as it's full speed as well as the Mega STE's 16mhz full speed. Just look here: http://www.tphf.karoo.net/dbug/falcon.htm
Thanks for the plug

Seriously, we are trying to patch and enhance games for the mste and the falcon, and the results have been very promising. Maybe at some point we'll have a requests section, but bare in mind that a)currently there's only 2 of us!, b)we have lots of stuff in the pipeline!

I like MagiC/ Jinnee over MiNT/ XaAES/ TeraDesk.
But one can also use MiNT with Jinnee which might make it better concerning look and feel.
Is there a TOS clone that offeres pre-emptive multitasking and memory protection? I nos AmigaOS offers the former but not the latter so you can still crash from time to time.
You can use three s/w for multitasking: MiNT, MagiC and Geneva. The first is free and open source, the other 2 are commercial (but not supported)

marc, read my post above

The solution I use is Betados + Spin! You can easily find and download both of these. Spin! has a extensive manual on how to install it.
Whatever solution you choose, if all goes well you should be able to see your cdrom by clicking 'install devices' from the desktop. Then the drive will appear automagically!

Hi there,
Have a look here http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?s...c=94661&hl= for some answers
But there's only 2 of us working on this project, so it will take some time as you imagine

I would _never_ trade my ataris for any amigas. Period!
Recently I bought a a1200 for about 12 UKP and it's gathering dust, while both my falcons get almost daily excercise

Hey.. it's Halloween... Well, we had the final 5 menus all tapped out ready to roll us up to 200. Then something special happened. Encounter! A game so good we changed our menu plans to bring it to you. As you've come to expect, its 16mhz accelerated as well as fixed for hard disk installs making it resemble the Atari 8-bit version even more! So hop on over to the download page, and grab possibly the best ST release in over 15 years. We even took the opportunity to boost it for Falcons and MSTEs.

Hi all,
ULS is not dead!
D-Bug has started a few months back a big project in which all Automation/D-Bug menus will be converted to being hard disk compatible! Also, as an added bonus we support the Mega STE and the Falcon's higher cpu speeds + caches! So running a game is as simple as copying 2-3 files into your hard drive and double clicking the program icon

Now, for games that need writing to disk we are using ULS, for the rest we just add hdd and falcon/mste compatibility.
You are all very welcome to visit http://dbug.atari.org and download all the fixed games we've released so far (note: lots more are in the testing stage - we don't want to release faulty versions
)(btw: the games are for the time being on the news section, we are on the process of building a dedicated section for the fixed games!)
You are also welcome to give us any comments (positive or negative) or offer us any help

Amigas have an OS? Interesting, I thought they didn't
