  1. It's normal, part of the game. I've had it since 1983.
  2. There were a few things I was wondering about: 1) Are there any plans to program in the digging music for CV Dig Dug? 2) How is the new version of Mr. Do! coming along? 3) In Mario Bros., I seem to recall ice falling from above in the arcade version in later screens. Is that included in the home version? Sorry for the hasty style, but there are medical problems at home and I only have a short time out lately. Thanks.
  3. I'm sorry if this seems like a stupid question, but where can someone buy CV Dig Dug- not that "mega cart?" I've tried finding out on the Internet, but only get back e-Bay replies. Thanks in advance!
  4. Since there is Atarisoft's good version of Pac Man, and Opcode's absolutely unbelievable "Pac Man Collection," which has Pac Man, Ms. Pac Man, and Pac Man Plus, it seems as though Super Pac Man would be the choice for the "original four." The MSX version isn't that great (if I recall no intermissions, everything single-colored- sound was good, though). I absolutely would buy this game.
  5. Interesting problem here... I've been looking into buying these games, but am not sure what they are like. Checking on Youtube and other sources yield different results for the same CV game! Dig Dug, in some I've seen red letters for the option screen, yellow in the others. The music when you tunnel is present in one, but not others; the prizes look pretty good in some. Moon Patrol has white UFOs in one, blue in another. Drol looks better in one version (no, it's not the original Apple version!), and Bagman has different colored layers similar to the arcade but with the CV's 16-color limit. Can anyone here link or post videos or images of what the actual, individual (not multi) cartridge versions look (and maybe sound) like? Thanks!
  6. Not long ago I saw a thread about an improved version of Mr. Do! for the ColecoVision. I cannot find it, but is there any news about it now? That game would be a must-buy.
  7. I do hope there will be more games for the unexpanded ColecoVision?
  8. Man, the ColecoVision just keeps getting better and better. The ONLY thing it lacks is a good first-person shooter along the lines of Star Raiders.
  9. Not bad at all- looks like Cosmic Avenger made into Scramble. The multi-colored player's fighter is a plus.
  10. Any videos of Drol? Hopefully it's the version with the flying lizard with the jet pack.
  11. I'd certainly be willing to help test new CV games.
  12. As many of you know, I've been away for a while- What new homebrews for this system are currently available?
  13. Wait- they were both "Electronic Games." I checked through them. If you'd like I could send scanned images of them?
  14. The magazines wouldn't have happened to have been "Electronic Fun" and "Electronic Games," one with a nerd and a big Buddha and the other with a "Star Wars" cover?
  15. Looks good- if I can find it, I'll either buy it or trade Matt Patrol for it!
  16. Which of those character graphics does the "improved" version use? I know it's not Matt-version nor arcade version, but that's it.
  17. The main problems I had with the CV version were: 1) Mr. Do! was single-colored. At the very least he should have been two-colored, like the ship in Cosmic Avenger or in Mr. Do!'s Castle. 2) You would "stick" under an apple if not careful. 3) The enemies could have looked better even if single-colored, as in Ladybug. Like many 1983 games, it had a rushed-out feel to it, but everything else was quite good even if a few details were different (Chompers do not become apples or eat apples). If I knew how I would do these things myself, but Javascript game programming is not CV game programming. If a regular version of Mr. Do! with these improvements came out I'd get it. Those screenshots look fantastic!
  18. I have had "Matt Patrol" for years, and am wondering if Moon Patrol not only has different enemy graphics (brassieres to ships), but has any missing elements added, such as the "moon plants" in the craters during the Professional courses.
  19. Joust. In 1988, it was THE main reason I purchased the then relatively recently released Atari 7800 at Kay-Bee Toys in the Jefferson Valley mall. I was a huge fan of the arcade version, owned the 2600 version, and so bought the 7800 along with Joust- to me, Pole Position 2 was just a bonus. It was some years later, probably around 1998, when I stumbled across a 5200 at a town-wide garage sale. It took some effort repairing the broken controller plugs, but it was well worth it for Berzerk, Qix, Defender, and a few others. Some time later I found Joust for it, and while obviously not as good as the 7800 version, was still nice enough to play. I also played the NES version, which was great, but not quite up to the 7800 version- the latter just had more of the "essence" of the original somehow. Then in 2001 I found out about Joust for the ColecoVision. Although only a screenshot and description, it was still very impressive, and what struck me as curious was that it was supposed to have been released in 1983- and that it, like Galaxian, was superior to the 5200 version.Too bad it was never finished. Then it finally was completed. So- having had enough money- I bought a copy. It did not disappoint. Although the sound of two opponents meeting at equal height is missing and the pteradactyl looks a bit crude, it is overall better than the 5200 version, most notably the way the enemies move and the character graphics. Although the sound is a bit more complete on the 5200 and the tree stump on the bottom of the playfield is closer to the arcade on the 5200, the CV wins out, even if there are never more than five enemies onscreen at once. I also like the title screen. Absolutely superb. What makes this game unusual was that it was a "keystone" game. The reason I bought a 7800 was for Joust. Had this game come out in 1983 for the CV, especially along with Dig Dug and Pac Man, and had I known about games like Boulder Dash and Fortune Builder; and had Lord of the Dungeon been released...I never would have bought a 7800. It was Joust that really did it. Was there ever a game which, had it come out on the CV back then, would have prevented you from purchasing another system?
  20. Hmmm...also saw a video for Moon Patrol. I have an earlier version, Matt Patrol, also known as "Flying Brassieres." Does the finished version of Moon Patrol just change the title screen and enemy saucers, or does it also include the lava bursts and rolling rocks? Black Onyx looks interesting, too.
  21. I'll have to order it by mail... Question: One thing I noticed was the flickering- or the lack of it. How was this done?
  22. Back in 1988, I purchased an Atari 7800. The reason? Joust. On Youtube just now I saw the CV game, completed- with sound. If available for purchase, how can I buy it? It looks and seems to be terrific!
  23. Some games I really liked, looked forward to, but Coleco fouled up: Space Fury. Terrible colors and graphics, and as simple as the arcade game was elements were missing: the partial aliens did not follow you and did not speed up. Victory: Terrible character graphics and defective programming- the Quarks were never released. Mr. Do!: Needed more touching up (e.g. you don't get "stuck" with apples), and better character graphics. Maybe monsters can eat apples, as they did in the arcade? Zaxxon: Smoother scrolling if possible, and better action with missiles launched from silos and Mobots, if they remain. More challenge with outer space sequence. Omega Race. Awful, awful graphics. Death Drones and mines show a decent vector look could have been achieved. Looping: It's too easy to loop, and shoot out bricks- nothing can hit you even if you move at moderate speed. Slow down shots or add that "pyramid?" Burgertime: More challenge by gradually accelerating enemies, not your character- defect when you get between 200,000 and 300,000 points needs to be fixed. Time Pilot: Poor collision detection, missing screen, and somewhat better graphics. New-new games: SNAP JACK!!! Pleiades. Bagman. Gauntlet, perhaps? Even if enemy movement is space-to-space like the NES version, still GREAT!! Battlezone. Any vector game. Marvin's Maze. SPACE ODYSSEY!! Kangaroo.
  24. Think I'll watch "Tron" or "Joysticks" instead...
