  1. Forget Quantumlink, what about Gameline modem for 2600???? Or a game modem for Intellivision??? Oddly, the service became QLink originally for C64 only then later for other 8 bit computers. When QLink went down, it became AOL. That is if I have the histoiry right...
  2. I do remember an online game via Prodigy (Classic, long before Prodigy.net) back in late 1980's. It was a single player only game though. One game was a labyrinth type game and I do remember having trouble with the minotaur that gave riddles.
  3. 64GS is still a regular 64 without keyboard. Not many games will work on the GS version because they depended on keyboard for something.
  4. I got the board out of the RF and I noticed the socket for the 3 chips are blue. I have NEVER seen blue socket before. Also the cable that connects to the switch board is 3 sets of 4 conductor cable, each wire feels like 16 or 18 gauge solid wire. Behind the cart slot, 1977 is on the board (not silkscreen) and on the other side of the board there are "REV B" and "CO10433" Nothing to tell me the country of origin.
  5. I got it opened, the paper attached to the main board's RF shield reads Jul 19 1978
  6. Yes it is defiantly a heavy console. Very thick bottom shell, front bottom part is curved not straight, and has RF plate inside that looks like it belonged to a tank. Attached is a large 5mpix image of the console, you can verify the serial number and that it is a heavy console.
  7. Yeah. I didn't notice until a while ago that my serial number was one digit longer than the rest. Mine does not have a channel select switch either. I can take it apart for the board rev later.
  8. Looks like the foil sticker that covers the front bumper had been ripped off. I am willing to bet it doesn't work but can be fixed by cleaning the power switch.
  9. The original PSO was free to play. PSO v2 with extra zones and more required paid subscription but players of PSO and PSO v2 could mingle in the same server. It was nice until cheaters found a way to use Gameshark to PK and NOL other players, ruining hours spent on leveling and gearing legitimate characters.
  10. How about reissue them with cart slot and use mini version of 2600 cart? With modern technology, it should be very easy to make standard 2600 cart the size of micro SD card or even smaller and still work.
  11. It's just Atari BASIC version and you can only do a few lines or so due to 2600's limited RAM.
  12. I got 3 around but 2 have been put away. I will post sn# when I find them. The one I have out has SN# of 0030500
  13. Why? Lionel and Easy Bake Oven never appeared on postal stamps. Atari 2600 did once.
  14. I have a copy of Strider that was sold in USA but it has multiple language on the back. It did have a sticker of UPC bar over the original one. AFAIK a few other such "world release" boxes with alternate UPC bar code sticker are likely USA release.

    E.T.

ET for GBA. Just as awful as the 2600 with those pits to avoid, those "bad" men to avoid, and getting to landing spot in the right place.
  16. I've left a number of 2600 behind in the wild. Usually because the price was too high. Plus at some ma and pa type thrift shop that buys up local garage sale leftovers to sell at markup rarely takes care of the electronics. The game systems often look like they were fished out of mud after a herd had stampeded over it. One such thrift shop has about 50 2600 games, most of them Combat, Air-Sea battle, and Pac Man for $5. A bit pricey even for cart shell recycling. Maybe I'll see if I can get a deal by buying the whole lot? Another Ma-and-pa type shop I haven't been to for a little while usually gave good price but they rarely got any Atari stuff. They do get lots of Coleco stuff and once I cleaned them of 30 CIB O^2 games and 3 systems.
  17. Solaris takes a long time to finish and takes patience. Dark Chambers... .hard if you don't cheat and look at game maps for correct exits on higher levels.
  18. Talk with the seller, ask about getting refund and let the seller work it out witn insurance. If the seller balks and post office refuses ebcause it's poor packing, file a complaint with eBay and Paypal Not really much you can do.
  19. Just under 4 days left, bid now at over $500.
  20. DOes that 110-in-1 have mostly original (pirated) games or are they more like 3 or 4 original games with 100+ variations of the same thing?
  21. Here's one tha6t has happened to me once. I was just about to finish the game with chalice in front of the yellow castle when a bat decided it was more interesting than a dead dragon, swiped it, and flew right over the castle gate. Nothing happened until I entered the castle and I got the fanfare.
  22. Bound High and Dragon Hopper for VB. It was shown in Nintendo Power magazine with scheduled release just a few months away when VB was killed. So I would think a complete or nearly complete proto exists somewhere. Grid Runner for Atari Lynx too. It was featured in one Lynx catalog
  23. Gut a Xonox cart. It's huge and doesn't look like standard 2600 cart.
  24. Asking for full 100% compatibility is asking a lot. It would be nice though. I was under the impression some 2600 carts didn;t work because the FB2 unit (with cart slot mod) didn't put out full 5v and some cart needed 5v to work properly.
