Sounds like weak RF signal vs picky TV. Hook up a VCR (any VCR, even one that doesn't play or record) and use that to pass RF signal through. It should help boost the strength a bit. 2600 to Antenna/Cable input of the VCR (using direct connection adapter). Use either RF out or AV out to TV.

Yes ugly and doesn't fit in standard 2600 case because of the double stacked EPROM. I'll probably take it out and replace it with 8 mega EPROM once they come in. I've found a few more F8 games that works on NTSC TV so I'd need more than 96 blocks and 8 mega allows up to 128.

It may be possible with a 4k SRAM or EEPROM and serial support chips (or easier to use parallel support) to write 2k/4k games. Larger games requires bankswitching and it'd complicate things if you want a quick and simple. Plus you'd need to devise battery backed SRAM if you go with SRAM since 2600 doesn't like running a blank cart while powered up and there's no way to reboot 2600 without shutting it off. And EEPROM doesn't need batteries and with the right setup, you could quickly erase it before writing new data. You will defiantly need a second connector since the 2600 cart connector doesn't have anything for write enable or erase.

It lives!!!! I had to do some tweaking to get them work, seems 2 different EPROM had issue with how /OE worked. 96 games in one package. Next time I'll order 8 mega EPROM first. Much easier than trying to mix 2 EPROMs

Anyone got a schematic for EPROM board for Intellivision cart? It has been done, there's one attached below but the one I got aren't detailed enough for me to reverse engineer. I would love to try and build a cart board for Inty sometime in the near future.

Maybe the 2600 I'm using is kinda bad? I'll have to try the 4.7k again when I get my heavy 6 hooked up.

Question - FB2 Portable?
Uzumaki replied to Curt Vendel's topic in AtGames Flashback and Portable Consoles
I would love to have a portable FB2 system. Forget trying to hack a PSOne LCD onto the FB2 console, it won't be pretty. I would have liked it better if the FB2 worked with Pitfall2 and a few other games but I guess the design limitation prevents all 2600 games from working. -
Images are lost atm. And after looking over the various fried Jags thread, I have to wonder why didn't Atari include 4 diodes to prevent reverse polarity? 4 diodes in bridge rectifier can take any kind of input and put out the correct DC polarity. That's like $0.25 worth of parts to prevent a (back then I think) $150 system from going up in the smoke. Rather easy fix but would require a bit of mod to circuit board.

PS I think AA store is paying more than that for donor cart shells. ET is OK, it's the pit that gets annoying. Especially in that room with 8 pits, you can fall in easily.

Aside from 8-in-1 Xonox cart I have (not finished, still need needle files) I've been cooking another multicart. This one has nearly all known F8 games plus a few homebrewn. The diagram posted below is what I use for pull ups. I have tried higher value but those didn't work. 4.7k caused erratic operation when any of the switch was in the off position and often crashed early in the game. 2.2k has a chance of working but not always. 1k has not caused any problem for me. The behavior may vary with various 2600 consoles but I'm using the 4 switch woody with 500ma power supply. But this multicart I am building has a total of 6 pull up resistors. When all the switches are in the on position, the total resistance between 5v and ground is 167 ohms (1k / 6 resistors in parallel) Is there a limit to number of pull up resistor a 2600 can handle before the power supply starts to smoke???

NES and Famicom are the same thing. NES has 4 extra pins for the security chips (easily disabled) and I think 6 or 8 more lines connected to the expansion port on the bottom of the NES that was never used. So any and all normal Famicom carts should run OK. pirated carts may use oddball bankswitching scheme and not quite play properly. ie pirated version of SMB2 has problem with top part of the screen (score, timer, etc), it scrolls with the background rather than staying fixed.

Ursula wants your voice for that game

Making a list of all programmable platforms-- help!
Uzumaki replied to Student Driver's topic in Classic Console Discussion
There would be a lot of consoles depending on what's allowed and what's not. As for TurboCD/Turbo Duo. Turbo Duo is one system that has both card slot and CD-ROM drive so it would be a "one" system. Sega CDx too with CD-ROM and cart support in one tiny package. IMO if the add on system uses completely different processor (ie 32X) then it's separate parasite system. Sega CD still depends on Genesis' main CPU for most of the game function so it's not really separate. Supercharger wouldn't be separate since it's still basically a cartridge with a mean of loading game image in an innovative way. Same with Cuttle cart and other copy carts. PS if educational system counts, be sure to look up "Children's Discovery System". An obscure mini-computer system from Mattel (about the same era as Intellivision) with educational games kind of like V-Tech is now day. -
Hard to beat the classic. But the downloaded version of Adventure 2 is kind of old and they are not allowed to release demo or beta ROM anymore so... :/ I do hope it becomes the new classic when it does come out ...got to find my 5200 console and a working cvpontroller I know I got somewhere...

What do you do with your broken stuff?
Uzumaki replied to holygrailvideogames.com's topic in Atari 2600
eBay a broken lot. -
Probably more expensive to send it there & back via air mail than an used and working 2600 would cost on eBay.

Item 1: Atari Retro game for Palm and PPC, works with Tungsten T, C, and E series, Zire 71, and Handspring Treo 600, Nokia 3650 and N-Gage, Windows Mobile Based Pocket PC 2002 or higher. Requires SD/MMC slot. Game comes on an 8MB MMC card. I believe the card could be used in Cuttle Cart as well. Game is complete in case with manual and a small 6 card case inside. Small case won't snap close for some reason. It is basically 2600 emulator with 7 games and there are better emulator for my PPC so I'm getting rid of this. $10 MAKE OFFER +shipping. SOLDItem 2: used Nintendo DS system with manual and power supply brick plus Retro Atari (complete, has price sticker on front case) and Lunar Dragon Song (complete). Only 1 stylus included. The DS were lightly used and simply got put away and not touched for a few months. Some scruff on top of the DS system though. I think the original warranty has expired a short while ago. $100 $75 shipped in USA. One Indigo colored Gamecube plus official Gamecube controller, 1 AV cable (not pictured), and Mortal Kombat Deadly ALliance (complete). NO Memory card, NO power supply. I got this as a spare but it's cluttering my room so it has to go. $30 plus shipping Will take Paypal or money order. Pictures attached below for reference.

Or a color bar cart. It displays a close representation of NTSC bars and could be used as a guide for 2600 color adjustments.

Bah I got 256 and 265 mixed up... too many '256 eprom crossed my wires. it is 74265, the six before the five. Also JDR have 74170 (16 bit dual port RAM) (look for part #74LS170) and the CMOS 4068 (quad AND/NAND gate with complimentary output) JDR has a $50 minimum order or $10 handling surcharge so watch that quanity!!

Zoombox supposedly is available at some brick n motar stores but no idea yet. Check online stores or even eBay. Zoombox has very weak light output compared to other LCD projectors due to 12v only system. It's probably OK for kids having a sleepovers but it's no good in anywhere except in dark rooms and obviously need large flat white or light colored area to view so car's out of question.

The Atari Flashback 3 Petition
Uzumaki replied to gamer1682's topic in AtGames Flashback and Portable Consoles
Yo here too. -
Care to pick up some 74256 for me? How much are they charging?

I'd like to try Japanese game, specifically the Virtual Space Invaders but AFAIK it's never been dumped yet.

Original ROM has been out but it requires E0 bankswitch (add to Stella profile or use -e0 in command line) However making a cart out of the ROM would be difficult because the chips needed are obsolete and hard to find The version I wanted is the one that's hacked to standard F6 bankswitch which AtariAge sells so it would be a lot easier to play em on the real console.

There have been a recent 2600 clones not counting Flashback 2. One that looked like a Famicom system but in blue.
