  1. So Mac users are screwed? They don't have a drive C:
  2. DB9 won't fit Jaguar controller though. VGA style which is DE-15 is what I need. Since it has 3 rows, ribbon crimped version probably won't work. useless trivial: DB-9 is technically incorrect term that was never corrected for decades. D refers to D shell. Second letter A-E is the physical size. DB-25 is correct for large connector with 25 pins but 9 pins should have been DE-9 as the shell was E sized. The number refers to total pins, and may have P or S to indicate plug (male) or socket (female). DE-15 is high density 15 pins in a small E sized shell.
  3. Still trying to clean up the mess to take video of Jag pad working but I got new boards in today. Error from the first version were fixed. I forgot to remove the vegistial resistor to pin 1. I originally included them so if I crashed the chip trying to test it on Intellivision, I could just short pin 1 to ground to reset it. Since it seems running, no need to manually reset it and can be permanently tied to +5v. A jumper wire is all it needs in place of resistor R1 Populated and ready but without Jaguar controller port wired in yet. Back side with a decoupling cap for the chip. 2 controller cables ready to be soldered on the board. I found it'd be easier to cut hole in Intellivision, install it with the tabs on the outside, run the wire in then solder it. If it is soldered on before it goes in the hole, it might not fit through and you'd have to make a bigger, uglier hole. Unless you're very good at cutting plastic and making it look very neat for inside mounting. The fixes include extra +5v and ground via for hooking up to Inty power supply, and for connecting second board to the first one. The second board can use the extra pad to run wire to a power LED. If I can find a supply of VGA style port that is pre-wired (saving me about 30 minutes of cutting, trimming, soldering, and checking per port) then it'd be wonderful. I could revise the board if needed for easier connection if the VGA cable has 0.1" plug at the end. Attached zip files contains code for Arduino and Eagle schematic/board if you want to make your own adapter. What to call this? Jaguar_final.zip
  4. Which version? The larger one with Turbo CD support came with all Turbo CD sold so it's not rare but a decent case with both latches intact can go around $50. I haven't seen a smaller TG-16 only version.
  5. I doubt you can find a supplier of GI chips, they were discontinued years before Al Gore "invented" internet. Your source would have to be used Intellivision.
  6. about 10% of whatever shipping buyer pays. So if the buyer choose a $50 overnight option instead of $3 cheap rate, you'd get hit with about $5 on FVF rather than 30 cents.
  7. It is the same 75 ohms standard for TV so you could simply replace the propriety cable with one that has standard RCA tip.
  8. I've thought about using analog stick, and it can be done in arduino using atan2 function but I haven't graduated past using simple add and subtract on arduino yet so someone else would have to figure it out. Copied from somewhere that was looking to convert X and Y analog to 16 directions: uint8_t getDirectionFromAnalog(uint8_t x, uint8_t y); { int8_t _x = x - 128; int8_t _y = y - 128; int8_t direction = (int8_t)(atan2(_y, _x) / M_PI * ; if(direction <= 0) direction += 16; if(_x*_x + _y*_y > 64*64) return (uint8_t)direction; else return 0; // joystick too close to centre } It'd probably need to be cleaned up and fixed up. If the code could be fixed to work, I could add that to my Jaguar adapter and hack my Jaguar controller with analog stick in place of D pad. Jaguar controller cable is not using 3 pins so there's room to add X and Y analog lines. Not if only I could find a disc style controller like NES Max or Intellivision rather than pole or mushroom style stick that I seems to only find.
  9. If you're in Michigan you could send me STIC and I could test em. I have an Inty 2 that is naked (no power supply, no working controller, no power supply board, just the mainboard and console shell) that works fine with the missing parts. If your STIC is bad I can swap it with the good STIC. FWIW Intellivision 2 is easier to salvage parts, they didn't have the RF shield welded together like all other Intellivision systems.
  10. Unusual looking board, all of the Atari brand cart I took apart was always green. But that is a mask ROM so the ROM chip is probably not proto. Maybe a review sample? The board shows date indicating 22nd week of '83
  11. If only there was a decent supply of digital controller with 16 directions like Intellivision. Since no other game console used it, it'd have to be a custom controller.
  12. Got a new little sister!

  13. One neat trick with the ECS basic is that you can import sprites from any game cart. Most computer didn't offer easy way to tap into game cart for sprites.
  14. 1985-ish I have some C64 games saved on floppy disks, I'm not sure if it's still intact or not. I also have the gold Legend of Zelda that still have the battery saved data.
  15. A black & white CRT of that size probably packs a couple hundred volts. I've been shocked by stronger discharge from capacitor used to charge for camera flash bulb. Plus I did get zapped by a live 440v.
  16. An older US silver dollar can almost completely cover the screen. I think 1.5" is the smallest standard CRT style ever made for use in portable TVs. I've seen smaller (about 1/2") that were used in video camera's view finder but it's not used as portable TV.
  17. But will XBox One play original XBox games like PSOne did with original PSX games? I hope Microsoft remembers to disconnect all of their telephone in support department when XBox One is released.
  18. I can't edit my last post with extra info but I found a page that might be interesting if you wanted to know about that little TV I got: http://www.guenthoer.de/e-tube.htm down a few paragraphs to Nordmende TR-101. I looked at all the pictures they had, the shell differs but the control and antenna place are all exactly the same. Looks like many of the models are rebranded from Nordmende model? forgot to add the screen size is about 1.5" diagonal. Roughly half a standard playing card.

    Lynx Memories

Best part: you don't need to sneak a flashlight and hold em like you would with a book or Gameboy.
  20. Emerson VR22. The rechargeable battery pack seems long out of stock, it's nowhere to be found except for one on eBay. Thankfully the battery compartment also takes regular AA batteries.

    Lynx Memories

When I first saw a magazine cover featuring a tiny-looking color handheld I wanted one. The actual Lynx is much bigger though but I was drooling every time I went to Toys R Us to look at the display (usually Blue Lightning demo) and California games.
  22. Found a silver slim PS2 with PSU and controller for $19.99 and a very small TV for $3.99. The TV has the smallest conventional CRT I've ever seen and the internal battery compartment is quite clean. Has the original carry case with removable front cover and strap with separate smaller container. Also comes (in separate container) video hood for easier viewing and supports external antenna. I'd need to find a 300-75 ohms adapter to screw in the back to properly test it since it only supported 300 ohms input and there's no older NTSC broadcast anymore.
  23. Space Invaders for the original Gameboy contains enhanced Super Gameboy support. There are a few SGB enhanced games. Gameboy games that comes in black cart has both B&W and Color palette, almost a 2-in-1 game.
