  1. Berzerk Space Dungeon James Bond 007 Honestly though, a break sounds good to me too.
  2. One more, a little bit closer to respectable: 2018
  3. Just tried this out and I can't believe the scores you guys have listed! Here's my score so far, in case I don't get a chance to improve: 866
  4. I'll be there, and one of those Failsafes has my name on it.
  5. Either I'm not seeing something right in front of me, or no poll was ever announced for the new game this week. Anybody know what's up ? Maybe a CGE Hiatus? I'd vote for extending Joust another week or two if that's an option.
  6. Just received this email a few minutes ago. Just spreading the word for anyone interested: Subject: Video Games Live on PBS! New info and full segment! Hi!, Below is a press announcement that PBS released earlier today. We hope that you can help us spread the word! PBS also posted one of the full segments from the upcoming special. It's our new duet version of the Civilization IV music. Thank-you for your kind support. ========================================================================= VIDEO GAMES LIVE™ July-August 2010 (check local listings) — Special Features Music from Mario™, Zelda™, Sonic™, Halo®, Warcraft®, Chrono Cross®, Castlevania®, Guitar Hero®, God of War™ and Final Fantasy® as Performed by the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra — In VIDEO GAMES LIVE, a new PBS special, the world's most beloved video game franchises come together to celebrate gaming culture and the incredible music surrounding it. An immersive event featuring the best game music performed by top-notch musicians and choirs combined with synchronized lighting, video, live action and audience interactivity, this performance was taped at the Lakefront Arena in New Orleans with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra. The lineup consists of never-before-televised live musical performances from the Mario, Zelda, Sonic, Halo, Warcraft, Final Fantasy, Castlevania, God of War, Civilization, Chrono Cross, StarCraft and Guitar Hero franchises, including a musical journey through classic gaming. VIDEO GAMES LIVE is part of special programming airing in July-August 2010 (check local listings) on PBS stations. "We are introducing a whole new generation to the music of a symphony orchestra," said veteran video game composer and VIDEO GAMES LIVE CEO/executive producer and host Tommy Tallarico. "Never before in history have kids been dragging their parents to watch a symphony." The VIDEO GAMES LIVE CD and DVD/Blu-Ray release will coincide with the nationally televised special and will be available in North America exclusively through PBS until November 1, 2010. The CD features 16 musical performances, and the DVD/Blu-Ray includes more than three hours of bonus material, including additional and extended music segments, composer and game developer interviews, exclusive game trailers, "making the game" documentaries, behind-the-scenes footage and composer commentary. "I'm hoping that this project will have a positive impact on the perception of video games by the non-gaming world," said Tallarico. "We created VIDEO GAMES LIVE over eight years ago to prove to the world how culturally significant and artistic video games have become. The goal was to create a show for everyone whether they play games or not. The fact that all of the game publishers have come on board with this project to help our mission says a lot about the future of gaming and how much they believe in VIDEO GAMES LIVE." Filmed in New Orleans this past April in high definition with 5.1 audio surround sound, the concert features the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by VGL's co-founder, Jack Wall; a 34-person chorus; a number of soloists including pianist Martin Leung, flautist Laura Intravia and singers Vangie Gunn, Kendrew Heriveaux, Ron Ragin and Cindy Shapiro; plus a rock band featuring Tallarico on guitar; and a full complement of state-of-the-art lighting, lasers and special effects. There are also interview bites with actress and video game fan Jamie Lee Curtis and video game composers including Tallarico, Jack Wall, Russell Brower, Christopher Tin and Gerard Marino. The video game music performed includes: • Super Mario Bros.™ • The Legend of Zelda™ • Sonic the Hedgehog™ • World of Warcraft® • StarCraft® II • Halo® • Final Fantasy® • Chrono Cross® • Castlevania® • God of War™ • Civilization IV® • Classic Arcade Medley • Guitar Hero®: Aerosmith PBS special programming invites viewers to experience the worlds of science, history, nature and public affairs; hear diverse viewpoints; and take front-row seats to world-class drama and performances. 7. Back a thousand years ago I was pretty good at Joust in the arcades. Not great, but not at all bad. I then got it for the 5200 and was pretty good in my den as well. But until 2 minutes ago I never knew you could kill the Pterodactyl with a shot to the tail! Thanks NE1, I'm going to have to try that !!
  8. I'd really like to buy one *AT* CGE. Will you have copies available for sale there? Also, given the entry in the store it looks like no box was produced for this. (Am I wrong, hopefully?)
  9. Damn. I seem to have topped out. I'd love to see some of you play, or learn your strategies for this game. I'm not even approaching 100,000. Atariksi or Atariron, if either of you can get your game recorded and added to Youtube I'd love to see it.
  10. OHMYGOD. 371k+ ??? You must be that little Atari freak teaching me a lesson this weekend. Simply incredible. Have you been defeating me my whole life, only to really rub it in now? I think that's the most discouraging thing I've ever heard. How tragic. (Paraphrased from The Pricess Bride. )
  11. That's obviously not the original AC Adapter. I'm having a hard time making out the specs, but I think it reads that the output is 11.5v, No Load, must be used with 9v, 300ma power consumption device. I think the voltage is OK, but I'm somewhat electronics-ignorant and don't know if 'no load' is correct for the 5200. There's also no way to really tell if the polarity is right or if the plug will fit correctly in the switchbox. If you did buy that switchbox, I'd verify everything is OK before using that AC Adapter with the switchbox and the 5200. As for the switchbox price, Best Electronics lists a new (well, never used, but obviously not made this decade) switchbox for $29.95. 4Jays lists a used switchbox for $19.95.
  12. Off-topic a bit, but Atariron - how do you take your picture of the TV? Mu pics never come out as well as your shot there. I'm in a room with flourescent lights on, I disable the flash on the camera, and I shoot the TV straight-on.
  13. As George J might sing, I'm Movin' On Up. 85,560
  14. Now I'm getting a little bit respectable. 69,030
  15. I'm using the same version as Zylon. So far, my best score is 34,230. I'll post a pic when/if I improve.
  16. <Homer> Uuuuuummmmmmmmmmmm, Cinnabuns........... </Homer> Oh, Sin-a-bombs, you say?
  17. As much as I love and defend the 5200 controllers I suspect they might be contributing to my difficulty this round. I cannot get past Stage 5, no matter how many times I try. So, pulling in near the bottom I think - I've got 28,765. That may be my best score before deadline.
  18. When I showed my copy of SInistar to my wife, she looked at it, noticed the label, and said something like "Wow, that looks real" or mayeb "that really lloks professional" or something like that. I think the label looked outstanding, and clearly good enough to be 'real'.
  19. Just received my copy today. Haven't had a chance to play yet, but will certainly find time over the weekend. Am looking forward to it.
  20. Is the AA pause exactly the same as the one by vtrucco, using just the RDY lines of the 6507 and TIA? Thanks, 5-11under See here: http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/163553-atari-2600-pause-kit-now-available/page__view__findpost__p__2028469
  21. Hope your PM inbox is sizable! (Yes, YetAnotherPMSent.)
  22. I've never tried it out, but I always assumed that was just an additional RF output, for use if/when the original hard-wired RF cable became damaged.
