Hi everybody, Thanks very much for all the pointers. I don't have APE/SIO2PC yet - no 5.25 drive in the PC (yet). I will be doing that in the next few days. Hi, I recently acquired a RANA 1000 floppy disk drive. I have it configured at Drive 1, and have confirmed that the drive works using the RANA diagnostics. However, when I attach the drive to the 800, power on the drive, power on the 800, and insert a MYDOS disk, all I get on the screen is "BOOT ERROR". (The floppy is known good). The only technical difference between a 1050 and the RANA 1000 that I've been able to find is that the 1050 spins at 300 RPM and the RANA spins at 288 RPM. I've found references elsewhere that some people have not been able to boot off the RANA, but it works fine as a second (non-boot) drive. The RANA manual says it can act as a boot drive, and that is supported by other articles on the net. So, is there any trick to getting a RANA 1000 to be a boot floppy? Thanks in advance, lensman
