Hi...this is David, "Atari'nMoreSTORE". ....have you tried the cable on a TV? ..and, have you tried any other s-vid input on you cpu card? Drop me an e-mail...maybe we can figure this out..."I know, Commodore's have vertical lines, and I tried everything to get rid of em! But, my 130xe, and 65xe's ...all look SMOOTH, and CLEAR on my LCD. (32", and 47") "We are NOW AtarinvintageComputers" I have 100's of boxes of Atari Items....and have been working with Atari's for 28 years! ...anyone has needs, or questions..mail me, [email protected] David I haven't had time to do any other tests yet unfortunately. Trying it on a TV or LCD was my next step (have to take it to work to do this). Thanks for replying here David, and welcome to Atariage, as it looks like you're a new member. Hi...I got the fix...a DIODE between the Croma line in the cable! A IN5400 (radio shack) clears up the vetical lines! Let me know...I will exchange the cable for ya! but, for others... solder a IN5400 Diode in the plug...between the Croma line for the S-Video cable. WOW! Clears all the lines up! I tried everything! Then... I just happened to have a IN5400 Diode, and it WORKED! NOW..I use them in ALL my cables! I can't believe the picture I am getting on my 47" LCD! I knew the lines were normal! But, I could NOT live with myself...thinking...there might be something can do!!! Anyway, try this..or, mail me! I will exchange the cable NO PROBLEM! The DIODE acts as a "one-way valve"...and, "I think", it eliminates the interfierence coming back into the cable!!!???? Seriously! "The picture is so INCREDIBLE!!!!". I enjoy my Atari so much more! So clear! WOW!!! Hope everyone benefits from this! , David M. Atarinmorestore/atarinvintagecomputers Sure, the diode has a silver stripe. The stripe side needs to from (PIN 5) coming out of the Atari<<INPORTANT! (if you have one of my cables..."there is no way to get in the plug, the whole inside is hot-glued"). If your making one from scratch: You need a 5pin din plug, RCA cables, and an s-video cable. (go here, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S-Video for s-vid pin-out). *from the back of the atari: pin #1 -luma, #2 -ground, #3 -audio, #4 -composite(not used for s-video), and # 5 -Chroma. The most difficult part is getting the diode inside the plug!!! It is a REAL bitch! You need to cut the diode down with just enough to solder to it. And, they don't solder very well either. So anyway...the diode goes between the croma line (pin #5), "stripe side to the plug". You will need to solder a small piece of wire to the diode, because..."If you solder the diode straight to the pin on the plug...it will break loose very easily." ***If you already have an S-Vid cable for an Atari, and you don't care about looks. Just cut/strip some of the cover off the s-video part of your cable (about an inch, near the plug), and find the chroma lead (usually RED, but you need to test to make sure), and simply cut the wire...and solder the diode between that line, then tape it good. This eliminates those vertical lines! Makes it look amazing! Man, I tried everything...then I just happened to have a Diode, and I tried it. And, it did the job! Here's my email if anyone needs pictures or an already made cable. [email protected] Take CARE! MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!

This will Fix the VERTICAL Lines on a LCD/Plasma/HD TV/Monitor. <<After many, many Hrs./Days/Years trying! To make your own cable: You need a 5pin Din plug/S-video Cable, and..."a Diode!" Part No: IN5400. Available at Radio Shack, or anywhere. *The tricky part is getting the Diode in the PLUG! ..and solidly! *I cut the Diode down, leaving a very small space to solder ON EACH SIDE. Solder a very small piece of wire to "side with the stripe". If you solder the Diode straight to the PIN, it easily comes off! Make sure the side with the "STRIPE"...is connected to the 5pin din plug. The Diode goes between the "Chroma" lead only! *Strip enough wire so you can fit the diode in-between. It really is a Bitch getting the thing solder'd solid, and making sure nothing touches! "I USE A HOT GLUE GUN, TO MAKE SURE NOTHING TOUCHES (SHORTS), AND I HOT GLUE THE ENTIRE INSIDE OF THE PLUG!" "The diode acts as a "ONE-WAY Valve". I asume it filters the out-put. I tried many, many different parts...and, WOW! This actually did it! ***DO-NOT use a smaller, or lower rating Diode! <<Will not WORK! A IN5800 I think even gave me a better picture, but In5400 sure smooths those DAMN Vertical lines up! You can't notice on a small/regular TV! Will post pictures soon! *****PLEASE let me know how it goes!!! Or, I can send you an "already-made cable!" Up to you, but I would like to how it goes for ya! (: <Email me if ya need one. [email protected] / atarinvintagecomputers

Hi, I know this message is OLD. But, can you explain to me how to do this? How can I make a cable to use RGB on any tv? I made a composite cable, works great! But, I have a st that has no RF..and if you can explain how to do this..that would so cool! Thank you, please e-mail me [email protected] , David
