  1. i never had trouble getting old stock from kaybee toys but yea fro mail order it was probably telegames for new old stock there was a couple of companies that bought and sold so it was used and they mostly did just nes, gen, snes i too am a commodore maniac i got like 50 games for the 5200 but like 1500 disks of games for the c64 oh geez i just checked and its approx 2500 disks
  2. i dont know why you think gorf is bad it controls just like superbreakout i find keystone capers hard after the first couple levels and pitfall 2s second half after you survived the gauntlet of bats and condors they go and change the bat patterns and throw giant speed ants at you
  3. i can relate to that the nintendo trained my thumbs for the sega genesis but going that route i was not prepared for the playstation shoulder buttons i am still not good at using them the snes users had a generation of training but somehow that evolution fell flat when nintendo tried to get us to grow a third hand for the n64
  4. good you have a nice analog stick for missile command, gorf, starwars, kaboom, superbreakout now just buy a gamepad for digdug and pengo and kangaroo
  5. we really owe alot to the N64s crazy controller layout for the creation of the ultraracer* and the makopad (superpad) if intereact is going to spend $30,000 on molds you better belive they are going to use them for other systems thanks for posting this here if it was on the 7800 forum i wouldnt have seen it ps is that grey, bluebutton a suncom fx2000 do you experience the autofire jitter on the 5200 *maybe much is to be blamed on the predominance of racing games for the n64 you know about the up down trigger on the bottom but using the trigger for up down is almost as nonintuative as using the wheel for driving the moon patrol
  6. that is a really good idea it solves 2 major problems #1 the lack of a good plug end #2 a project box it might have been even better if instead of chopping the joystick end he put a 15 pin gameport plug in place of the boot
  7. the most simple option in the 5200 faq is to make an adapter to use pc gameport joysticks and gamepads
  8. it would be easy to make a button flipper switch just need a double pole double throw switch a couple plugs you just pass through everything and on the switch you take the outer 4 contacts and criss cross them
  9. i wonder if there is a reset you could exploit on the cart people used to mod a cart for reset on the commodore 64 maybe some 1/8 earphone jack type extension arrangement like on the masterplay
  10. you could buy a 15 pin breakout board* and add a switch and a long cord and mount it somehow * https://www.ebay.com/itm/DB15-D-SUB-VGA-15pin-Female-Adapter-Jack-Terminal-Breakout-PCB-Board-LW/172350617619
  11. if i didn't already have one i would not seek one out if you want an adapter i got one i can ship out but dont tell nobody else cause i just have one
  12. i prefer left joystick when i have more than one button to hit i'm just more dexterous with my right hand for hitting leo on countermeasure or the elevators on miner 49er sure i love left button when there is just one i can hit with my thumb while it is holding the stick
  13. i notice on some suncom sticks with autofire it draws too much current in a pulsing manor does the direction kind of pulse? i know this isnt really proper but i am thinking of selling my 2 experimental joysticks i made a while ago $50 each delivered i know that sounds high but the joysticks were from an romstar arcade control panel i bought for like $30 so thats $15 eaqch just for the sticks then there is like the $5 each for the number pad a couple bucks for the pots and knobs and i dont know if you have shopped around for rainbow ribbon wire but its not cheap either and its going to cost me $15 to ship (side button one ,or bottom button one)
  14. does the adapter work properly with other controllers it may be faulty as they are haphazardly constructed out of poor materials
  15. i like galaxian cause each button is the corrisponding level select
  16. neato if your controller is going to have a smooth area for a keyboard maybe use a self adhesive membrane keyboard with ribbon connector
  17. sometimes i feel like making a batch generally its after i sell a couple of my personal use ones and i want to make another to replace it so if you can live with just one of them i can send one out but i wont be able to play space dungeon till i make another
  18. i would love to see an analog absolute positioning crossbow game i play it on the commodore 64 and waiting for the crosshairs to move is a bit annoying
  19. i think the adapter injects the a/v directly into the rf modulator the av mod takes the AV before the modulator
  20. looks great individual buttons make much more sense i was thinking you would have the buttons be part of the mold like the old moto razr but it would be tricky to line up the height exactly right it would have to be within a millimeter with individual buttons they can be higher or lower and its no big deal if you have auto/rapid fire capability it makes frogger work pretty good
  21. yea that is realy good work the top looks hard to make i guess you are going to make the numbers s,p,r flex buttons(3 cut outs and spacer) and have open areas for the fire button key caps i hope you line up everything ok i guess you are going to print it face down with concave numbers(for colorfill) i would make it a flat face with right angle walls unlike the back
