Cant believe not one person has stated the obvious yet......Check the dates on eBay..If that doesn't give you

a good idea of their worth nothing will....No book or dealer will tell you what market will bear.....Hope this helps.

Does anyone have any idea if Amiga actually ever produced their Joyboard and if they

did are there many of them still in circulation(collections). Just wondering what one would

be worth too. Reason being is I have one ot the first one's produced.

It depends on where you are. If you're in California where many game companies were located, then the odds are actually not too bad. However if you're in a place that was far away from any game companies (like myself here in Michigan) then the odds are very low. I've never found one in the wild.

I just got one from Ebay boxed in fairly nice shape but it did not have the game or instructions for under $50 shipped. What you have sounds cool. Did you ever have the games they made but never made it to the market?

No and I honestly don't remember if I ever knew how far along the others were. I

know that if they ever were available for a reviewer to see I would have seen them.

What happened was that they got so involved in the computer they were developing

that the games were just forgotten. The VP I got close to went on to work for a game

company out on Long Island. Can't remember the name of the company but I believe

they were developing Playstation games when the Playstation first came out.

Like I've said to someone recently. The European crew is buying everything up. And Marco, who I've done business with in the past is one of the eagle eyes over there. I sold a Malagai a couple of years ago and it seems to me, and my memory is not digital so I could be wrong, that the box I sold it with was a little different. Is there a box variant or could I just be wrong.

I see that eBay is literaly dry of the Joyboard. I was just wondering if there is any

interest out there in it. When it came out I found it quite interesting. With Mogul Maniac

I thought it worked well. At the time I tried it with a couple of other games and didn't

like it's response. Anyone else have any thoughts on it.

Part of the reason I'm asking is that I have one of the first one's every touched by anyone other than an Amiga employee and probably before some of them(and I don't

think there were too many of them). Not only do I still have it, but I even have the Fed Ex box it came in and all the paperwork including(I hope) the letter saying that it is one of the first ones they had and that I was getting it. I had become pretty close with (and without going back and checking on this it's a bit of a guess) their VP Don Reisinger(?) and that's how I happened to get one early on. I had even gotten a sneak peek at the

computer they were working on at the time which they sold to a larger company. I'm not sure if my memory serves me right on this but I think it's what finally became the ADAM computer. That doesn't ring right with me but that's all that I can think of right now. I have a feeling that could be wrong though.

Now I've let myself open for a couple of the critics who have been jumping on my back here but I do enjoy discussing some of the stuff that went on back in the early '80s surrounding the videogame industry. I hope they can just relax and let everyone hear some of the stories of what little I can say about the infancy of the videogame industry.

Although I have my doubts it is a very slight possibility. Pole Position had been a

very popular arcade stand up and was ported for the 2600. It did come out though

right around the time of that list. In that same issue was my TOP TWENTY list where

Pole Position was number 12 and had not been on the list the month before.

Just curious about what the legality of all this is, although I have not seen any activity from Wizard Video since 1987.

Has anyone ever heard of a case where evaluation items were demanded back, or of cease and desist letters filed against sellers on eBay or other venues, from companies (or the companies that now own those companies) from the older days of video gaming? I believe companies that have stuck around like Nintendo and Sony are more protective about their loaner/evaluation items.

I wasn't suggesting that you are doing anything, oh, illegal, just wondering what the legal status of evaluation materials like this might be given they are media from another time and given that Wizard Video, like many other companies from that time, is no longer a viable company unlike Sony, Nintendo, or even Atari. But thanks for your touchy, knee-jerk "it's mine, mine, mine" response, because it illuminates a grey area in the world of video game collecting.

You were given this game by Wizard Video for the purposes of reviewing it for a publication, yes? (I'm not even going to get into the ownership of the publication here.) Most, but not all, of the time evaluation materials are not expected to be returned (reasons include: to foster goodwill among the reviewers, it isn't worth the money to get the sample back since they are destined for mass production anyhow, the item has been allocated through accounting as a business expense, and so on); however, with some companies they ask for the materials back - here I'm thinking of certain film companies and their films. It really depends on what sort of legal agreement, or lack thereof, accompanies the material(s) in question. (As an aside, I've reviewed books before, and sometimes the publisher wants the review copy back, but most of the time they don't - typically this is related to how far along in the publication process the text is. Also, it's been over a good ten years since I worked in radio, so I'll have to check with an industry friend about the current situation over there.) Of course, we live in different times and with additional media formats, so controlling who has access to what is a little different story.

So yes, in a situation with something taken from a company by an employee - such as a lab loaner cart - that cart is still the company's property, although thus far many of the surviving companies from the Atari 2600 period appear not to care about retrieving this sort of thing. Enforcing (intellectual) property issues, copyright, and trademark are things that are interesting to me, and like I said in my initial query, I'm really thinking more about companies with longevity like Sony and Nintendo (and Disney because of their aggressive corporate history, but this is a video game forum).

I was not given this game by Wizard, if you know how to read all we are talking about here is a poster. NOT A GAME. And no one here has said anything about taking something from a company. It's like you're putting out there that I stole a game cartridge. HUH!

Hi,

Has anyone ever seen the video done by Activision for Space Shuttle? It was done

by Steve(?) Kitchen and someone from their Publicity Firm. It was really good. I know

I have it around somewhere but I haven't seen it for sometime. They actually made it

after a great interview I did with him for my TV show. They should have cut me in for

something on that but I never got as much as a thank you letter from them for giving

them the idea. I'd be interested in if anyone has seen it or better yet has a copy of it.

I have no idea if they ever released it to the public or wether it was just something they

did that went to industry people only.

I thought I had the TCM proto, it is the Halloween proto that I have!! I guess I'll have to go for this one. This is going to be a fierce battle.

All I can say is GOOD LUCK. Wish I had lots of them so that I could make everyone

happy. You never know. eBay is a strange place. I've sold stuff that I thought I'd never sell there for 10 times what it was worth. And other times couldn't sell something I thought I had way underpriced. So one never knows one good old eBay. This being something with appeal to Horror Film fans as well as Atarians it could be somewhat of

a price war. I'd like to say I hope so and have everyone understand my position.

Wow that is a great list of vapourware. Most have been found in some shape or form. I wonder if the ones that had a month next to them such as Kickman meant that they were almost completed? Thanks for sharing with us

If they had a month next to them, that was the latest reported release date. I found that

sometimes the dates were way off. Companies listed a date to sort of dangle something

in front of both retailers and the general public's eyes. I guess eye candy would be a

good term to use. I think I have a CBS press kit around, I'll check if there's anything in

it that would give any clue. Was there ever a screen released on the game that you can

remember?

Hi,

Found an old copy of my newsletter Joystick Jolter, which originally began as a

newsletter meant for the Toy Store market. Toy stores had no idea of what was

coming out soon in the videogame market so I tried to close that hole. It wasn't

anything compared to today's technology but I did get quite a bit of recognition out

of it. Store's also had no idea what they were ordering and after they got the games

and people found out how bad they were, for the most part they were stuck with them.

E.T. in particular, in fact that may have really helped my newsletter to grow a bit faster.

Magazines of the day and still today have a couple of month turn around, so their info

and reviews were way late. My newsletter with a 1 or 2 day turn around gave me the

opportunity to get info to the stores in many cases before the games were released.

There by saving them some money. As I looked through the issue I actually laughed

at some of the reviews, calling some of the stick graphics of the day beautiful or great

or any words that if you look at them compared to today's graphics and gameplay are

really not much to look at or play. I hope you enjoy looking.

The poster has a prototype box which I will also be selling soon on eBay. The

poster will come with a copy of the Press Release for the game from Wizard Video

Games. This is a Very Rare piece that at best only a handful of people might have.

If anyone has one I'd like to hear about it.
